200416: I am so glad that the never ending story with the through traffic in our office will hopefully finally come to an end. 12 people are sitting in our neighbouring offices, so someone walks through our office about every 3 minutes. It‘s hard to concentrate when there is constant movement in the office, flanked by banging and beeping from our new security door. I have raised the problem again, and the colleagues from the neighbouring offices use their own entrance now. I am overjoyed!

200416: Ich bin so froh, dass die Never ending story mit dem Durchgangsverkehr in unserem Büro hoffentlich endlich ein Ende hat. Mit der neuen Sicherheitstür kommt zusätzlich zu dem ohnehin schon nervigen Durchgangsverkehr noch das Piepen und laute Knallen der Tür hinzu. In den Nachbarbüros sitzen 12 Personen, viele davon nehmen die Abkürzung durch unser Büro. Das bedeutet: Ca. alle 3 Minuten läuft jemand durch, und es knallen 2 Türen - eine davon piept zusätzlich. Mit der ständigen Bewegung, dem Geknalle und Gepiepe kann man sich einfach schlecht konzentrieren. Deshalb habe ich das Problem erneut angesprochen, und die Kollegen der Nachbarbüros benutzen nun ihren eigenen Eingang. Ich bin überglücklich!

210101: We didn't do anything special on New Year's Eve - the most fun we had was with the table fireworks and filming each other in slow motion as we lit them and let them pop. 200629: I had the Monday off and was amazed at how quickly a day flies by. A little bit of cleaning, pumping up the bike, shopping and picking up the support bandage prescribed by the orthopedic surgeon.

200630: I was lucky and got my first physiotherapy appointment very quickly. The physiotherapist was also unable to see immediately where the pain was coming from. I am excited which way it will continue.

200323: Have I ever mentioned that I prefer to use wine roemer as a glass for paint water? I prefer the souvenir glasses with lots of gold, but they are hard to get. It's time I can visit Bavaria again, they sometimes sell them at the flea market. Or as new goods in the souvenir shop. I recently bought this glass at a flea market for 50 cents. That's also quite ok.

I am often asked since when I keep an illustrated diary – since 2001. So this is number 20, which is half full (Or half empty?). Half a year has already passed again! I use the Moleskine Pocket Diary, which is 9x12 cm (3.54 x 4.7 inch) in size and has one page for each day. The paper is actually unsuitable for watercolor paints, but surprisingly, watercolor paints work pretty well despite the poor paper quality.

Ich werde oft gefragt, seit wann ich ein illustriertes Tagebuch führe – das mache ich seit 2001. Dieses ist also die Nummer 20, die zur Hälfte gefüllt ist. Ein halbes Jahr ist schon wieder vergangen!

Ich verwende das Moleskine Pocket Diary, das ist 9x12 cm (3,54 x 4,7 inch) groß und hat für jeden Tag eine Seite. Das Papier ist eigentlich denkbar ungeeignet für Aquarellfarben, aber erstaunlicherweise funktionieren Aquarellfarben trotz der schlechten Papierqualität ziemlich gut.

Trying to capture the emotion behind those small daily moments that seem to stand still.

2020/3/13: Kitas, schools and public institutions have been closed in most German states. A good decision, but one that poses a huge problem for many parents. In Schleswig-Holstein there are 5 weeks in which no childcare is available. If these 5 weeks are taken by the parents with vacation days, the annual leave is gone. I hope for cooperative and accommodating employers or even better for governmental aid packages in the form of special leave/short time allowance or similar and support for self-employed parents. Otherwise, there will be self-organised childcare groups where the virus can happily spread further. And that is exactly what is not supposed to happen.

13.3.2020: In den meisten Bundesländern Deutschlands sind Kitas, Schulen und öffentliche Einrichtungen geschlossen worden. Eine vernünftige Maßnahme, die jedoch viele Eltern vor ein Riesenproblem stellt. In SH sind es 5 Wochen, in denen keine Kinderbetreuung zur Verfügung steht. Wenn diese 5 Wochen von den Eltern mit Urlaub bestritten werden, ist der Jahresurlaub weg. Ich hoffe auf kooperative und entgegenkommende Arbeitgeber oder noch besser auf staatliche Hilfspakete in Form von Sonderurlaub/Kurzarbeitergeld o.ä. und Unterstützung für selbstständige Eltern. Andernfalls wird es selbstorganisierte Kinderbetreuungsgruppen geben, in denen sich das Virus munter weiterverbreiten kann. Und gerade das soll ja nicht passieren.

200408: You can't make this stuff up. It really happened the same way. I planted flowers on a street corner next to a tree. A woman from across the street shouted across the street: "HELLO, YOU THERE! ARE THOSE POISONOUS PLANTS YOU ARE PLANTING THERE??? BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE THE DOGS SNIFF, AND WHEN THEY EAT IT, THEY DIE!" I told her I was only planting flowers, and they're not poisonous. But she kept getting upset. "IF YOU WANT TO PLANT FLOWERS, WHY NOT GET A GARDEN?" All I could say was, "You're the first person ever to be annoyed by flowers. I really feel sorry for you."

200408: Sowas kann man sich nicht ausdenken. Es ist wirklich genauso passiert. Ich habe an einer Straßenecke direkt neben einem Baum Blumen gepflanzt. Eine Frau von gegenüber rief über die Straße: "HALLO, SIE DA! SIND DAS GIFTPFLANZEN, DIE SIE DA PFLANZEN??? WEIL DA DIE HUNDE SCHNUPPERN, UND WENN DIE DAS FRESSEN, DANN STERBEN DIE!" Ich sagte ihr, dass ich nur Blumen pflanzen würde, und die seien nicht giftig. Aber sie regte sich weiter auf. "WENN SIE BLUMEN PFLANZEN WOLLEN, HOLEN SIE SICH DOCH ENEN GARTEN!" Ich konnte nur noch sagen: "Sie sind die erste, die sich über Blumen ärgert. Sie tun mir wirklich leid."

200421: I have cleaned and rearranged my favourite paint box. The box is about 12x10 cm and was once available as a special edition from @schmincke_official. Officially it is designed for 18 half or 9 whole pans. I have done 26 half pans. 😜

Even if we have got into the habit of not looking up every time someone walks through our office (it is a walk-through room, like a corridor), you can still see that there is constant movement. Sometimes it annoys more, sometimes less. That day it annoyed us more.

200131: I ordered Rosemary brushes before the brexit came. Many. 😂 I wanted to try them for a long time, but found it difficult to make a selection on the website. I then ordered a catalogue, (thanks for the tip, @_steinwaelzer_!), it worked great. I was happy that the brushes arrived, because the shipping address was... creative. My name is now Jobson-Marwodel (which I like quite well!), and the company name had not been written onto the package. I don't know how this came about, but it all arrived! The brushes are great! The R15 unfortunately had a VERY loose cap, which I could not fix satisfactorily even by squeezing the cap . But the complaint went very smoothly and obligingly. Thanks for the top service, @rosemarybrushes!

200131: Ich habe lieber nochmal schnell Rosemary Pinsel bestellt, bevor der Brexit kam. Viele. 😂 Ich wollte die schon lange ausprobieren, fand es aber schwierig, auf der Webseite eine Auswahl zu treffen. Ich habe dann einen Katalog bestellt, (danke für den Tipp, @_steinwaelzer_!), damit ging es super. Ich war happy, dass die Pinsel ankamen, denn die Versandadresse war... kreativ. Ich heiße jetzt Jobson-Marwodel (was mir ziemlich gut gefällt!), und der Firmenname war nicht angegeben worden. Keine Ahnung, wie das zustande kam, aber es kam alles heil an. Die Pinsel sind super! Der R15 hatte leider eine SEHR lose Kappe, die ich auch durch durch Zusammenquetschen nicht zufriedenstellend richten konnte. Die Reklamation verlief aber sehr problemlos und zuvorkommend. Danke für den Top-Service, @rosemarybrushes!

200529: On Friday, May 29, 2020 we made a bicycle tour in Hamburg along the Elbe river. It is beautiful there, and we were surprised that there was not much more going on. At the Elbe beach at the lighthouse Wittenbergen we had a little break. We stopped in the beer garden of the Ahrberg restaurant in Blankenese both on the way there and back and drank non-alcoholic wheat beer with a 1A view of the Elbe.

200529: Am Freitag, dem 29. Mai 2020 unternahmen wir eine Radtour in Hamburg an der Elbe entlang. Es ist wunderschön da, und wir haben uns gewundert, dass nicht viel mehr los war. Am Elbstrand am Leuchtturm Wittenbergen machten wir eine kleine Pause. In den Biergarten des Ahrberg-Restaurants in Blankenese kehrten wir sowohl auf dem Hin- als auch auf dem Rückweg ein und tranken alkoholfreies Hefeweizen mit 1A-Blick auf die Elbe.

200526: We bought flowers for the grave of Robert's grandparents at the hardware store. It looked so funny how Robert transported the flowers on the luggage rack.

200527: Because we found it so beautiful in East Holstein and we still had holidays, we drove to Neustadt in Holstein and from there with the bikes to Grömitz. We haven't been in this area for a long time - I like the hilly landscape there!

200526: Wir haben im Baumarkt Blumen für das Grab von Roberts Großeltern gekauft. Ich fand das Bild so lustig, wie Robert die Blumen auf dem Gepäckträger transportiert hat.

200527: Weil wir es in Ostholstein so schön fanden und wir immer noch Urlaub hatten, fuhren wir nach Neustadt in Holstein und von dort aus mit den Rädern nach Grömitz. In der Gegend waren wir lange nicht mehr – ich mag die hügelige Landschaft dort!
