Sketch of winning fella at the Royal Exhibition Queensland, the EKKA

This is another 40 year old drawing which has skulked in my folder getting tattier and tattier.I still think I would like to do a painting of it so it has not been binned.Looking at it again I feel it was worth saving so for my drawing today I has taken it to photoshop, used the poster edges artistc filter to sharpen it and added some colour.

As the note says, I COVET this little retro owl bank. No matter its coffee-stained little face... I spirited him away from the ice/coffee room on the 8th floor (at school) to do this drawing. I must find one of my own! Le sigh.

By the way - brushed metal is FUN to paint.

I'm not a jelly donut-eater myself... this came courtesy of Eric & his co-worker/friend David.

The dramatic rescue of a turtle in the road.

I was on my way home from work on Saturday when I narrowly missed a turtle attempting to cross the road. Convincing myself he would undoubtedly parish if left to fend for himself I parked on the side of the road and went back to pick him up. He showed his love and thanks by spazzing out and hissing wildly at me as I left him safely on the other side of the road.

And kudos to the girls who drove by giving me the thumbs up!

When used one page at a time... I like the watercolor journal, it's starting to grow on me.

As I worked four hours on this today I decided to post it in my drawing a day set although I have had three sessions on it. There will probably be some refinement, I can already see a detail I need to change but it is largely done.I did a smaller pastel sketch earlier which in turn was taken from a pencil sketch of the trees done of the carob trees in Cyprus.I often use pastels to plan a painting. As usual the scanner does not get the colours quite right.I will try to get a photo in sunlight when we get some!
