Like a rat up a drainpipe… But even rats have to eat - and this one has found a bunch of tasty blackberries. The Brown Rat, also known as the common rat, street rat, sewer rat, Hanover rat, Norway rat, Norwegian rat, Parisian rat, water rat, or wharf rat, is one of the best known and most common rats.
Pied Wagtail - Motacilla Alba
This species is instantly recognisable, with its black and white plumage and its long tail that always seems to be on the move. Pied Wagtails use a wide range of habitats and are even found nesting in the middle of our largest city centres. Outside the breeding season, Pied Wagtails gather to roost in reed beds, greenhouses or in bushes and trees in supermarket car-parks and petrol-stations. Presumably, they feel more secure when sleeping with the lights on.
Nest boxes are best sited where water and grass lawns are near-by. They use a wide variety of nest sites, from drainpipes to farm machinery.

UK breeding:
470,000 pairs

Maya inspecte son balcon et particulièrement cette cuvette placée sous un tuyau d''écoulement donc pas très propre avec l'eau qui a passé dans la terre.
Elle met tout le temps ses pattes dedans ;-)

Maya inspects her balcony and particularly this bowl placed under a drainpipe therefore not very clean with the water that has passed into the ground.
She always puts her paws in it ;-)
Thank you for your comments and invitations.
(26/366) If you look closely (best viewed Large) there appears to be 3 types of fern growing out from behind this old drain pipe outside my GP surgery. I can see the obvious green one at the top, some darker plant with rounder leaves underneath & what looks like a Hart's Tongue fern leaf at the bottom?
Yet another of the seemingly ubiquitous colorful drainpipes found along the streets of Paris. Shot with the Olympus E-M1, Mark II.
Side wall details of a quite remarkable corner building designed by famous Dutch architect Willem Marinus Dudok.
The 1917 building, located at Leiden, was commissioned by newspaper publisher Leidsch Dagblad and is now in use as a district civil court.

Literally....this is what happens on a rainy day when the drainpipe breaks off. I know its a weird subject but yeah...can't resit that red and a few drops of water! Rainy day goodness!! :-)

Tonight I'll dream while in my bed
When silly thoughts go through my head
About the bugs and alphabet
And when I wake tomorrow I'll bet
That you and I will walk together again
I can tell that we are going to be friends

This drainpipe is in the lower level of the Morrisons Supermarket here in Newark. It feeds down to the main drain from the upper level which is exposed to the elements! As it is in the car park it does have an additional guard to it to protect from damage by people who can’t park without hitting it! Both the guard and the pipe appear very susceptible to rust!

HAPPY FENCE FRIDAY : 0))
Happy Fence Friday to one and all
I am guarded by this hilarious court jester
he is wearing rather a Serious hat
because he's as bald as Uncle Fester
What do you mean you've no idea who that is
Surely you've seen the Addams Family
Well, I know he wasn't made up of old drainpipes
and U-bends with flexibility
but his eyebrows are peeling
his eyes are appealing
because he is left in the sun
he stands at the wayside guarding me well
but if a robber stops by he can't run
so quite what good he is proving to be
I really can't tell you for what
but he's company during the day and night
and he squirts me with water when I am hot
one night the alarm was tripped and went off
it was a burglary in progress
he tried to stop the getaway car
but it drove right through the gap between his legs!
People stop by just to take his photo
but today is all about me
so I wish Poppy had focussed more on ME the FENCE
and not on my friend just 'cos he's funny!!
