This is somewhat inspired by my own dear RL kitties, Emma & Rosie...We have this friendly and beautiful gray male kitty that
likes to visit everyone in the neighborhood, and on several occasions, he's stopped at our house and poked his head at the window just to say hi. Well, my sweet, sedate Rosie makes such a racket when he does this that she sounds like she's being murdered or worse - she goes totally ballistic!
Emma, the more aggressive of the two, just bats her paws repeatedly at the window and hisses and spits with ears all flattened out on her head. I have to say, it's pretty funny to see them in action like this, and while I'm laughing (inside myself) at their intense displays of territorialism, I'm trying to calm them down while also attempting to gently chat with Mister Sweet Visiting Cat, and reassuring them that he just wants to be friends. We'll see how things progress as time goes on, assuming he still wants
to visit my unwelcoming little screaming banshees again...

The Iron Throne is the seat of power of House Targaryen. It showcases red marble and stone, pillars and statues of gargoyles. The Small Council Chambers are flanked by Valyrian Sphynxes made of obsidian and red onyxes.
It is illuminated both by torches and sunlight, as from these open ceilings, dragonriders may descent into court.
Really excited to have it populated by players and their stories.

The newly built hall of Druidham serves many purposes, among them a play room for the Quilones children while their parents have important discussions about the continued growth of the settlement. Henjin and Galaria have three half-Elf, half-human children. Gahlen, the eldest, proudly displays his pointy ears and is in training with his dragon to be one of his mother's dragonriders. His sister, Emmalie, sticks close by her father's side and is a student of the Druidi Order. Her younger sister, Lucaria, is also a young dragonrider, and shows the brightly colored hair typical of females in her mother's family. Somehow Emmalie missed out on that, and has more human features like her father.

Hidden deep in the Mystic Isles of Avalonia lies the home of Henjin Quilones and an order of Druids. Sharing the island is Henjin's wife, the elf Galaria, and her band of dragonriders, as well as the dragons themselves and a small army of support staff. The dragons live in the caves on the southern face of the island, and the humans live in buildings erected on the surface as well as in a labyrinthine complex of tunnels and caves that honeycomb the island.

Lately I've been hanging with people at two separate but connected regions, Shroomhaven and Torvaldsland, and I love them both. This photo was taken in the Chapan section of Torvaldsland, and this place is pretty awesome. The communities here have designed, built, and scripted some pretty cool and entertaining things. I liked this tea house in the Chapan section, so I decided to take a photo here.

It takes a lot of food to feed an island fortress full of people, so the kitchen of Druidham is always busy. The sun shines through the windows, so the chandeliers are not lit, but the orange glow of the main kitchen fire permeates the whole space anyways. Various stews and sauces, along with meat on spits, cooks over the flames. Bread is baked in the bread oven, and pies and salads and various meats are prepared at the tables. No kitchen would be complete without a water source, so Druidham's kitchen includes a well, as well.
This kitchen is only for people food, but a young dragonrider is looking to get a snack for himself and his ride...

One from Ireland, since I've been neglecting those. I loved the sheep along this trail back down from Carrauntoohil... such variation in color, most of them with black and white spotted faces.
And, completely unrelated to Flickr, I'm terribly excited about the trailer for The Hunger Games. I read the books earlier this year, and will be diving back into them soon for a re-read. I just need to wait for a quiet, rainy Sunday... because once I start a book like that, I pretty much can't put it down. Katniss Everdeen is the heroine that so many adventurous girls dream of being, and the world that Suzanne Collins creates is both terrifying and amazing.
Speaking of adventurous, it saddens me to learn that the wonderful Anne McCaffrey has passed away. I was completely enamored by her "Dragonriders of Pern" books when I was younger. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her books.

I made this for a 'Dragonriders of Pern' swap on Craftster. It's based on the miniature dragons, or firelizards, that appear in those books as intelligent pets (which, as a child, I wanted to have!). She is gold, with faceted blue eyes showing that she feels happy.

Druidham, an island deep in the Mystic Isles of Avalonia, is home to a diverse range of races and tribes, despite its small size. These peoples have come together for the common goal of creating a haven for Druids, dragonriders, dragons, and all who seek the common good of Historica.

The Dragonriders:
Led by Galaria, the exiled former Elf princess of Hesperia and wife of Henjin Quilones (center), the dragonriders have made Druidham their home base. There are many caves for their dragons to dwell in, and the plenitude of uninhabited small islands around and the fog-obscured channels create a perfect place to train young fliers in peace. Many of the dragon riders are fellow Elvish exiles from Hesperia with Galaria, but others are Elves from Mwamba and the Sunken City of the Kolgari, as well as one orc-elf and two half-Elf children of Galaria and Henjin. Being Elvish is a requirement for being a dragonrider, since one must live as long as the dragons do (which is to say, be undying).
