Friday's lurid Examiner front page put a focus on art in the mayoral campaign
It doesn't mention it happened in 1977 & he has said he's sorry many times (though it is in the story) It also makes it seem as if he is pocketing nearly a million dollars when a lot of the money will go towards fabricating almost 60 sculptures & a working clock

I liked Catherine Wagner Landmark piece (which was chosen) and thought it would go well with Mildred Howard's Wayfaring art (Otterness was chosen)

Beekman Tower behind the Manhattan tower of the Brooklyn Bridge, as seen from the East River (September 2010)8 Spruce Street will be one of the tallest buildings in New York City. Developed by Forest City Ratner, designed by Frank Gehry, construction to be completed by Kreisler Borg Florman. It will contain a public elementary school, which the Department of Education will own.[2] It is slated to open in 2010.[3] Its structural frame will be all reinforced concrete.
[edit] Public elementary school
The school will be sheathed in tan brick, covering the first five floors of the building.[2] It will cover Pre-K through eighth grade. A 4th floor roof deck will hold 5,000 square feet (460 m2) of outdoor play space.[3] The school will take up approximately 100,000 square feet (9,300 m2), and will seat 630 students.[4]
[edit] Luxury rentals
Above the elementary school will be a 903-unit luxury residential tower clad in stainless steel. It will not contain any units for purchase.[3] The apartments will range from 500 to 1,600 square feet (150 m2), and will consist of studios, one- two- and three-bedrooms. All will be priced at market-rate, with no low or moderate income-restricted apartments.[5]
[edit] Other space
The building will also include space for New York Downtown Hospital.[3] The hospital will take up 25,000 square feet (2,300 m2), and will have public parking below ground. There will be public plazas on both the east and west sides of the building, one 11,000 square feet (1,000 m2) and the other somewhat smaller.[4][6] Street-level retail, totaling approximately 1,300-2,500 square feet, is included as part of the project.[4]

old police headquarters that was turned into condos for millionaires. in 2005, a decade old lawsuit was settled between the city and condo board who reneged on their promise to turn over part of the building for a senior citizen center (in exchange for forgiveness on a major property tax debt) the condo boards fearing greasy cooking smells, and chinese people bringing down the value of their property.
