Upside down, downside up
Reflected beauty in natures cup
That all eyes, see and look
At the mirrored page, of life's wild book
Where the water shines like glass
Reflecting the trees, plants and grass
Placing beauty in natures cup
That's upside down, downside up
A brisk morning walk led me into a tree that was absolutely covered in spiders! I didn't realise that until I'd jigged about for a few minutes trying to take a photo of this particular spider silhouetted against the sun. I'm not scared of them, but what appeared to be quite a few dozen above my head was a little disconcerting. Taken with my trusty Minolta Rokkor.

PRESS L YO!
I entered a photography competition!! The prize is a mk ii so I REALLY want to win. That would be nice, right about now. Anyway, the theme was umbrella, so I went with this. I'll let everyone know when the voting opens :D
So... the downside of this weekend was having to clip Gritty. He’s an absolute terror about it, but I intend to keep him in heavy work throughout Fall and Winter. Despite robbing him of some hair, we got 3rd place in the first round of the Trick or Trot jumping series! I’m extremely happy with this placement, but we’ll have to keep practicing and see what the future holds. Everyone did great out there and we had a lot of fun! ♥
The Fall color was on the downside.
St. James Farm Forest Preserve
In 1920, Chauncey and Marion McCormick purchased St. James Farm as a private retreat to accommodate their interests in horses and dairy farming. The McCormicks' son, Brooks, later transformed St. James Farm into a renowned equestrian facility. Brooks McCormick sold St. James Farm as a life estate to the Forest Preserve District in 2000. The Forest Preserve District officially took possession of the 607-acre property in 2007. Today, visitors can explore the forest preserve via scenic trails, tree-lined allees and guided quail-wagon tours or enjoy one of its inviting fishing or picnic spots. A series of permanent informational signs presents the history of the property, including its stables, barns, indoor and outdoor riding arenas, and artwork.
The only downside of the 500pf is the longer min focus at 3metre though i would not trade an inch for any loss of quality of focusing speed. This a little cropped still fills the frame quite well at 3m though smaller medium size butterflies i may still use my 200-500 and a good reason to keep it. Plus the flexibly of a zoom can be handy :-)
Reflected by the calm waters of the River Arun in Littlehampton, this is 'Penguin', patiently waiting in the early morning sun for the tide to return. Doubtless, wild adventures await once she can float clear of the the sand and set out once again on the short run down to the mouth of the river and out into the open sea.
Pack your lunchbox and get ready, it won't be long now...

Upside down vs. downside up:
If something is upside down, then that which was at the top is now at the bottom. Downside up is exactly the same, but rotated by 180 degrees. I'm sure that makes it clear.

Usual caveats etc.
Black and white shot of the tram viaduct aka fishnet stocking (in dutch Netkous) at the Beatrixkwartier. The Hague, the Netherlands
Downside of using a prime is being to close and not being able to zoom back to get all the bird in though the quality and improved bokeh i am getting with the 500pf is amazing
I have not yet figured out if those flowers sprouting from the water or hanging down from the sky...
Non ho ancora capito se quei fiori spuntavano dall'acqua oppure penzolavano giù dal cielo...

Explore #45.
Seemed to work nicely with a square crop, gets rid of all of the stuff at the sides that frankly isn't as attractive!

A sad shot this time :-(
This turtle was under a rock shelf hiding away. I had my 100mm macro lens on so could get a reasonably close shot with the strobe on but subsequent viewing at 1:1 showed that there is fishing line around its neck causing the bleeding there. Some divers will try to help turtles remove problems like this but I think that this would be too difficult.
@Logan_heiman and I went to an abandoned factory after a rained out session with Crandall. Neither of us properly rode this glass riddled DEAH-I-Y spot, so it was a wild scene. DIY is tight. A flat and a fix later I shot @logan_heiman downside footjam whipping this thing with my Canon 6D with an old Nikkor 50mm 1.4 @f/2.8 1/400th iso 1600.
They say that lions are not supposed to climb trees but then I guess no one informed the lions. In places like Tanzania's Serengeti, the practice seems to becoming more popular. Young lions, because of their smaller size, are more adept at the practice than larger, full grown lions. That being said, I have never seen a full grown male in a tree although full grown females up a tree are not unheard of. There are many questions surrounding this activity, not the least of which is, "why would a lion climb a tree?" Experts have suggested that the cats like the cooler temperatures and it may also help them escape from insect predators that tend to stay lower to the ground. One thing is certain, climbing up a tree is easier than climbing down. Unlike leopards that are adept and agile amongst the arbor, lions are clumsy and sometimes very, very tentative. Watching the process of a lion climbing down can be nothing short of hysterical. That's the downside to being on the upside! #iLoveNature #iLoveWildlife #WildlifePhotography in #Tanzania #Nature in #Africa #Serengeti #Lions #DrDADBooks #Canon #WildlifeConservation

The downside of film and scanning is the possibility of scratching on the film. This image suffers from that a bit, especially in the mountainside area of the image. So don't zoom in, just enjoy from a ignorantly blissful distance. | Shot on film, Canon A2E, 2002; scanned in 2018 on Nikon CoolScan 4000.
