Stagecoach Manchester: 20876 (P876 MNE) a Northern Counties Paladin bodied Volvo B10M, painted in Magic Bus livery and seen at the end of a shift just after arriving back in Princess Road Garage. At the time these vehicles were allocated to Service 192 journeys between Manchester and Levenshulme, but some managed to see use on the Wilmslow Road Magic Bus routes.

The matrix display information sign announcing the boarding of a special charter train departure from platform 1 at Paddington Station in London (UK) on May 28th 2016.
The charter train was very special indeed. Departing a few minutes later was preserved London North East Railway (LNER) Class A3 4-6-2 Pacific steam locomotive 60103 'Flying Scotsman' with the Sailsbury bound 'The Cathedrals Express' Steam Dreams railtour.
Note the ubiquitous roman numeral station platform clock and the splendid Victorian architecture designed and built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in 1854 although Paddington station itself dates from 1838.

WMT 4054 was one of several of its type to receive dot matrix or other digital destination displays whilst at Walsall.. 5 years later it was repainted but without the black paint, then later in 2007 into stripey livery with silver.
In this photo, taken 31st May 2001, it is in its original livery with black window surrounds.

crease pattern of origami dotmatrix. 2×12 is acquired with paper of 26:12 ratio. to get more "dot", a longer paper is needed (e.g 52:12 for 4×12 dotmatrix)

0810hrs on Saturday 2nd May 1987, Cannock bus station.
2791 had this dot matrix display from new, later the layout was altered to remove the separate small service number element and have it as large numbers within the main display, possibly at a higher resolution.

An example of Abellio Greater Anglia service train departures on a Saturday in March 2016 out of Chelmsford Station on the Great Eastern Main Line in Essex (UK).
Note the London bound trains are terminating one station up the line at Ingatestone, with replacement buses onto Newbury Park London Underground Station due to long term weekend engineering works associated with the 'Crossrail' project.

Arduino UNO provides 6 bit data and the necessary handshaking logic for a vintage Burroughs SSD0132-0040 Self-Scan gas plasma display c.1976. The row of LED blinky lights, aside from being mesmerizing, shows the state of the interface logic with delays built into the sketch to help diagnostics (on my first attempt I had the 6 data bits in reverse order). This pic shows clearly the dot matrix pattern making up each character.
