"Rocha dos Bordões” is an interesting geological formation characterized by massive basalt columns, located near the village of Mosteiro, in Flores island. It is an imposing geological accident, one of its kind in the Azores, resulting from the solidification of the basaltic rock in high vertical grooves, which are reminiscent of a huge set of walking sticks (“bordões” in Portuguese) made of stone.

A pair of Ferromex SD70ACEs take northbound Q506-12 up the Toledo Subdivision past the CPLs at South Ottawa. After having to change a traction motor at Cairo, recrew, and then endure driving rains, its a wonder that this guy got on the move in daylight.
A photo from deep in the archives taken with my first digital camera and from my very first visit to Portugal shortly after Rosa and I met. Twenty-two years later she is my wife, we have five grandchildren shared between us in our blended family and Portugal is my second home. :)
The old digital files don't hold up very well (the camera was 3 megapixels) and any modern mobile phone will potentially take better pictures but it served to reinvigorate my interest in photography after a hiatus from making images that lasted 3 decades.

The Serra dos Órgãos National Park - God's Finger Peak: The best known of the rock formations in the park.
At nightfall, Lisbon's Praça dos Restauradores is transformed into a stage of contrasts between the artificial light that frames the historic buildings and the sky painted in warm, soft tones. In the center, the Obelisk stands as a symbol of resistance and freedom, celebrating Portugal's independence in 1640. The discreet movement of people and cars adds a modern cadence to this timeless setting, uniting history and the present in a moment of serene harmony.
