★WHAT IS THE DREAM ROCKET PROJECT?
The Dream Rocket Team is collecting nearly 8,000 artworks from participants around the globe. The artwork will be assembled together to create a massive cover in which will wrap a 37 story Saturn V Moon Rocket at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. We will also be displaying submitted artwork in dozens of national venues prior to the wrapping of the Saturn V. Additionally, we are posting images of submitted artwork & their stories on our Website, Flickr, and Facebook. The Dream Rocket project uses the Saturn V Moon Rocket as a symbolism of universal values of the human spirit. Optimism, hope,
caring for our natural resources, scientific exploration, and harnessing technological advancements for a better quality of life while safeguarding our communities, are all common desires across national and international boundaries. Participants are able to express and learn about these values through this creative collaboration. With the completion of each artwork, participants are asked to write an essay explaining their artwork, and the dream theme in which they chose.
★How can I Participate & Have my Artwork Displayed?
The Dream Rocket project would like to challenge you to ‘Dare to Dream’. To dream about your future and the future of our world through dream themes such as health, community, conservation, science, technology, space, peace, and so on. We would like you to use your selected Dream Theme to express, explore, and create your vision on your section of the wrap. We hope that you are able to express and learn through this creative collaboration. With the completion of each artwork, you are asked to write a brief essay explaining your artwork, and the dream theme in which you chose.
“The Saturn V is the ideal icon to represent a big dream. This rocket was designed and built as a collaboration of nearly half-a-million people and allowed our human species to venture beyond our world and stand on ANOTHER - SURELY one of the biggest dreams of all time. ENABLING THE DREAMS of young people to touch this mighty rocket sends a powerful message in conjunction with creating an educational curriculum to engage students to embrace the power of learning through many important subjects”
-Neil deGrasse Tyson, Director of the Hayden Planetarium, New York

The Prosper Schiaffino or Donator wreck, Mediterranean Sea, France. 🐠 🌊 🇫🇷 🌏 👉 linktr.ee/vincent_pommeyrol

🇬🇧 The Donator, or Prosper Schiaffino, is a freighter sunk by a mine in 1945 and located between the islands of Port-Cros and Porquerolles. It is one of the most beautiful wrecks in the Mediterranean.
Donator was built in 1931 in Norway. It measured 78 m of length for 12 m of wide, for a speed de14 in 15 knots for a power of 1800 cv. Its resold in 1933 to the General Maritime Company of Armaments which renames it Small Earth and allocates it to the transport of bananas between the Metropolis and the Antilles. In 1939 it becomes the property of an Algerian Company of Navigation, the Company Schiaffino. This one was in the habit of baptizing the ships with the first names of members of the family, and Donator becomes then the Prosper Schiaffino. This company, which had twenty buildings in 1939, lost 19 during the Second World War: 13 by torpedoes, mines, and 6 by bombing while they were at anchor.
He was converted into a pinardier. Used for the transport of troops and equipment during the war, it found the transport of wine at the liberation. On November 10, 1945, the Prosper Schiaffino sailed for Spain with 29 sailors on board, to protect itself from the mistral, it skirted the coast. In sight of Porquerolles, it passes to the south of the island, too close, and encounters a field of residual mines. An explosion occurs forward at 1:15 p.m. The bow almost detaches from the ship. In 4 minutes, it sinks from the front, the rear almost vertically. Two victims will be counted. He rests on a sandy bottom at 48 meters, the bridge goes up to 44 meters.

So now life story time, been sick these past few days, stayed and home and slept a lot but today when I woke up I saw something very peculiar... It decided to snow... Mid April. Funny enough I have no complaints with the snow so I was quite happy partly because I still like winter but mostly because I thought the snow would help make a good background for this photo. So while I'm still slightly dead I decided to go out with my new bike, my camera and lights and take this 40ish shot panoramic photo because if not I'd have to wait until next year!
Well like I said I got a new bike and I'm super excited about it. Its my first "real" road bike and one of the first bikes I've had that somewhat properly fits me. It is a 2011 Specialized Allez Sport and I love it so far, its a big step up for my 1970s 30lb steel road bike, and this is only an entry level road bike. I really love biking and thats the one main things I like about the warmer weather. Just like most things I also bought it second hand. I also got proper clipless pedals for it and a pair of biking shoes (all used as well). And with all of that with a couple of other random things I needed to buy for this bike, now bike set up now officially costs more then my car... But then again my car is worth nothing. Point is I've already had it for two weeks and because of the terrible weather I've only put on 60km on it but hopefully that'll change soon.

Excerpt from Wikipedia: Tsz Shan Monastery (慈山寺) is a large Buddhist temple located in Tung Tsz, Tai Po District, Hong Kong. As a Chinese Buddhist monastery established for the inheritance of the teaching of the Buddha, Tsz Shan Monastery is a sanctuary for the purpose of spiritual purification, and endeavours to open the door to compassion and wisdom for the public through various activities. Much of the monastery building funds were donated by local business magnate Li Ka-shing.
Within the Tsz Shan Monastery, an outdoor bronze Guanyin statue, 76 meters in height, is the second highest in the world. Tsz Shan Monastery completed its construction and opened to public visitors in April 2015, led by the Venerable Kok Kwong HHCKLA.
Excerpt from the Guide Map of Tszshan Monastery: The Grand Buddha Hall has its front facade divided by columns into seven bays with an eighteen-metre high roof ridge. Inside the Hall three Buddha statues are placed, namely Sakyamuni Buddha 釋迦牟尼佛, Bhaisajyaguru Buddha 東方藥師佛 (the Medicine Buddha), and Amitabha Buddha 西方阿彌陀佛. On either side of Sakyamuni Buddha stands his attendant disciples, Cenerable Mahakasyapa 迦葉尊者 and Venerable Ananda 阿難尊者. The statues are carved from camphorwood 樟木 either painted with gold powder or affixed with gold leaves. The statues inside the Hall were carved following the sculptural traditions of the Tang 唐 and Liao 遼 Dynasties. On the two sides of the Hall, there are eighteen bronze statues of arhats 十八羅漢. At the back of the Hall, visitors can find an illustration of the Maitreya Descending Sutra 彌勒經變, reproduced with modern technology from the north wall of cave 25 of the Yulin Grottoes 榆林窟, east of the Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes 敦煌壁畫, as well as illustrations of the bodhisattvas Manjusri 文殊經變 and Samantabhadra 普賢經變 from cave 3 of the Yulin Grottoes.

Many of you knew that my family don’t do gift exchange during Christmas. We all got too many things and we are too lazy to shop. But here is my gift to humanity. After a gap of 20 years, I started donating blood again -- my English friend Mike Lee (www.flickr.com/photos/mjjtlee/ ) has been donating blood for years and he is an inspiration to me!
(I actually hate the needle and seeing blood!! So it’s a big thing for me to do it!!)

left side : church in kenya (thanks dad for this shot !)
right side : prests in Vatican City (the mother of churches)
now think about that : who really trust in god ? who really care about eternal life and hope to be in paradise after death?
Probably one prest hat could save one child..
PROBABLY 10 prest hats could be sold to build a new church...

One of the most famous signals on the Christiansburg District in Southwestern Virginia isn't from a CPL or Vader, but a crossing light. Many know it simply as the Brick Quarry crossing at Lafayette, VA.
This WRRS (Western Railroad Supply) signal is a one of a kind crossing signal that relies on some sort of a track circuit to activate. As described on the boards, when the lights go out, a train is near. As of November 3, 2016, Norfolk Southern removed this signal as part of a plan to close this private railroad crossing after the owners of the industry went defunct.
On a recent visit to the Christiansburg District, I stopped by this signal on my must-visit list and decided to do a slow shutter speed, backlit shot of the next train. Here, an NS intermodal with NS 1069 3rd out, speeds by the veteran signal enroute to Roanoke. I had no idea this shot would be my last from here. Had I known I would've planned a better shot, but there we are. Word on the street is this signal will be donated to VMT. Let's hope that's true.
Irlanda - Cashel - The Rock - Catedral
ENGLISH:
The Rock of Cashel (Irish: Carraig Phádraig), also known as Cashel of the Kings and St. Patrick's Rock, is a historic site located at Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland.
According to local mythology, the Rock of Cashel originated in the Devil's Bit, a mountain 20 miles (30 km) north of Cashel when St. Patrick banished Satan from a cave, resulting in the Rock's landing in Cashel. Cashel is reputed to be the site of the conversion of the King of Munster by St. Patrick in the 5th century.
The Rock of Cashel was the traditional seat of the kings of Munster for several hundred years prior to the Norman invasion. In 1101, the King of Munster, Muirchertach Ua Briain, donated his fortress on the Rock to the Church. The picturesque complex has a character of its own and is one of the most remarkable collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture to be found anywhere in Europe. Few remnants of the early structures survive; the majority of buildings on the current site date from the 12th and 13th centuries.
The oldest and tallest of the buildings is the well preserved ROUND TOWER (28 metres, or 90 feet), dating from c.1100. Its entrance is 12 feet (3.7 m) from the ground, necessitated by a shallow foundation (about 3 feet) typical of round towers. The tower was built using the dry stone method.
CORMAC's CHAPEL, the chapel of King Cormac Mac Carthaigh, was begun in 1127 and consecrated in 1134. It is a sophisticated structure, with vaulted ceilings and wide arches, drawing on contemporary European architecture and infusing unique native elements. The Irish Abbot of Regensburg, Dirmicius of Regensburg, sent two of his carpenters to help in the work and the twin towers on either side of the junction of the nave and chancel are strongly suggestive of their Germanic influence, as this feature is otherwise unknown in Ireland. Other notable features of the building include interior and exterior arcading, a barrel-vaulted roof, a carved tympanum over both doorways, the magnificent north doorway and chancel arch. It contains one of the best-preserved Irish frescoes from this time period. The Chapel was constructed primarily of sandstone which has become waterlogged over the centuries, significantly damaging the interior frescos. Restoration and preservation required the chapel be completely enclosed in a rain-proof structure with interior dehumifiers to dry out the stone.
THE CATHEDRAL, built between 1235 and 1270, is an aisleless building of cruciform plan, having a central tower and terminating westwards in a massive residential castle. The Hall of the Vicars Choral was built in the 15th century. The vicars choral were laymen (sometimes minor canons) appointed to assist in chanting the cathedral services. At Cashel there were originally eight vicars choral with their own seal. This was later reduced to five honorary vicars choral who appointed singing-men as their deputies, a practice which continued until 1836. The restoration of the Hall was undertaken by the Office of Public Works as a project in connection with the European Architectural Heritage Year, 1975.
In 1647, during the Irish Confederate Wars, Cashel was sacked by English Parliamentarian troops under Murrough O'Brien, 1st Earl of Inchiquin. The Irish Confederate troops there were massacred, as were the Roman Catholic clergy, including Theobald Stapleton. Inchiquin's troops looted or destroyed many important religious artefacts.
In 1749 the main cathedral roof was removed by Arthur Price, the Anglican Archbishop of Cashel. Today, what remains of the Rock of Cashel has become a tourist attraction.
The entire plateau on which the buildings and graveyard lie is walled. In the grounds around the buildings an extensive graveyard includes a number of high crosses. Scully's Cross, one of the largest and most famous high crosses here, originally constructed in 1867 to commemorate the Scully family, was destroyed in 1976 when lightning struck a metal rod that ran the length of the cross. The remains of the top of the cross now lie at the base of the cross adjacent to the rock wall.

Originally built in 1929 as the Medinah Athletic Club, a luxury men's club for members of the Shrine organization, the club fell victim to the stock-market crash and was forced to close its doors in 1934. InterContinental Hotels bought the property in 1988, and immediately began renovations. A quarter of a billion dollars and 12 years later, this truly magnificent hotel was re-introduced to Chicago.
Restoration work was guided by the original athletic club's 1930 yearbook, the SCIMITAR, donated by a club member. Its black-and-white photographs were used to duplicate and restore entire rooms, right down to the detailing in draperies, carpets and murals. Today, each floor of the hotel represents a myriad of cultures and eras. The public areas available for viewing provide a glimpse of the rich history of the building.

Oh boy I want to be on that ship too. Taken in port on a fine October night in the Mediterrenean sea in Mykonos, Greece. Makes me wish I had swam over and hidden as a stoleaway. Bliss is a nice thing.
