Just a couple of holiday sunsets from the Dominican Republic, there isn't a plethora of photogenic villages nor landscapes, but the sky colors are often dazzling in the tropics.
The Dominican Church in Maastricht is an impressive historic building with a rich history. Today, it has been transformed into a cozy bookstore that invites book lovers to browse and relax. The blend of ancient architecture and modern books creates a unique atmosphere that combines history and culture beautifully.
Around 1539 La Hacienda El Rosario in what is today San Isidro became the property of the Dominican Order. A century later a Dominican Father Martin planted the first olive trees in this area to supplement the order's income. About half a century ago the grove was declared a national monument. It's a wonderful spot in which to relax from the dusty city. Birds abound and I noticed not only Hummingbirds and Long-tailed Mockingbirds but also lots of Saffron Finches. They were industriously foraging the lawns and now and then a bath was taken.
This is view of the countryside in the Dominican Republic. We took a ride out to a horse ranch and caught the beautiful scenery, including some mountain peaks in the distance.

I really enjoyed my stay in the DR. The culture is very different from mine. I wished we could have stayed longer than a week, because there was so much to do and see.
As far as taste goes, this extremely large avocado lacks less fat than the Hass variety. Due to its lack of fat, the Dominican (Or Florida) avocado is much harder to mash. They are still very nice for a salad.
