Even though I like this miniature guy- he turned out looking completely different than I had planned (sigh). I made him a wig with long hair, and ended up chopping it all off. I suppose he had his own plans for himself (smile).

I have always been drawn to the story of Tarzan! I have also wanted to do a BB #15 guy as Tarzan for for about 2 years. My Tarzan is a full repaint. He has a handmade wig that is matted with loose dreadlocks to reflect how a man living in the jungle might really look- at least in my imagination (smile).

Ana Sofia is the Latina Holiday Barbie 2017 doll. She has been fully customized with a complete repaint. I prefer to create unique faces verses celebrity dolls. A rigorous method was used to straighten her hair. Ana Sofia's clothes are handmade using patterns that I created. I have one favorite Barbie, but second to her- I love my guys! The model in the photo is from my private collection. All fashions are handmade using patterns that I designed myself to fit my male dolls just right! The right outfit can make a doll look more realistic, and make them a lot more fun. I started making doll clothes for male dolls because I couldn't find what I wanted, and because nothing fit right. Making such tiny garments can be tedious. Your sewing machine is constantly trying to eat the tiny pieces fabric! There is so much work and time that goes into one garment! You have to really love dolls to endure the experience (smile).

Ty, the male doll model, was gifted to me by a sweet friend. I think he is so cute! These guys have longer arms and legs than Ken dolls. Too many times I see the Fashion Royalty dolls with clothes that are too short for them. I understand because I too have squeezed them into Ken clothes. I started making clothes for Hommes dolls because I wanted to make clothes that fit his body type properly.

Commentary from the artist:

Azzara was created in the likeness of a kind young man that I met last year. The human Azzara left quite an impression on me. He possessed an ethic beauty, confidence, and displayed a rare kindness. I knew in the moment that I had to attempt to create him in doll form. When I asked the human Azzara if I could use his name and image as inspiration for one of my art dolls, his response was, "I am flattered, and yes, you may make a doll in my image and name him after me, BUT under one condition- the art doll Azzara MUST HAVE DREADLOCKS and be brown like me!" Well, I was delighted to have obtained Azzara's permission, but the stipulation of dreadlocks, though the proper thing to do, caused a delay in bringing my work into fruition. Not only does it take hours for me just to make a couple kinky twisted locks- I use a wool blend as my medium. I AM ALLERGIC TO WOOL! So, the work is long and tedious when I deliberately expose myself to wool, but it had to be done!
