Medane, Arbia (Siena, Tuscany)
C'è un luogo, vicino a dove abito, dove la campagna risulta essere iconica e talmente bella da lasciarti senza fiato per la sua dolcezza, plasticità ed eleganza delle proprie forme: questo luogo si chiama Crete Senesi e si trova esattamente già alla periferia della città di Siena includendo i comuni di Asciano, Buonconvento, Montalcino (parte dell'ex comune di San Giovanni d'Asso, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme, Pienza e Trequanda, tutti all'interno della provincia di Siena.
Il suo nome prende origine dalla creta o argilla della quale ne viene caratterizzato il terreno che ha un caratteristico colore grigio azzurro con conformazione di apparenza lunare in alcuni luoghi, molto simile al territorio brullo della luna.
Il paesaggio è caratterizzato da colline brulle e ondulate dolcemente con pochi alberi, per lo più cipressi e querce solitari e case coloniche in cima a colline e tratti di bosco negli avvallamenti.
Tipiche conformazioni del terreno sono i "calanchi", le "balze", le "biancane". All'interno delle Crete Senesi c'è una area semi arida conosciuta con il nome di "Deserto dell'Accona" dove si trovano maggiormente queste formazioni.
Un edificio religioso caratteristico di queste zone è l'abbazia di Monte Oliveto Maggiore, fondata nel secolo XIV da San Bernardo Tolomei. Nella zona esiste una produzione di tartufo bianco molto pregiato che si trova presso il borgo di San Giovanni d'Asso.
Interessante anche la produzione di un formaggio prodotto da latte di pecora chiamato "Pecorino delle Crete Senesi".
Medane, Arbia (Siena, Tuscany)
There is a place, near where I live, where the countryside is iconic and so beautiful that it leaves you breathless for its sweetness, plasticity and elegance of its forms: this place is called Crete Senesi (Sienese Clays) and is located exactly on the outskirts of the city of Siena including the municipalities of Asciano, Buonconvento, Montalcino (part of the former municipality of San Giovanni d'Asso, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme, Pienza and Trequanda, all within the province of Siena.
Its name comes from the clay or creta which characterizes the land that has a characteristic blue-gray color with a lunar-like conformation in some places, very similar to the barren territory of the moon.
The landscape is characterized by bare and gently undulating hills with few trees, mostly solitary cypresses and oaks and farmhouses on top of hills and stretches of woods in the valleys.
Typical conformations of the land are the "calanchi", the "balze", the "biancane". Inside the Crete Senesi there is a semi-arid area known as the "Accona Desert" where these formations are mostly found.
A religious building characteristic of these areas is the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, founded in the 14th century by San Bernardo Tolomei. In the area there is a production of very valuable white truffles which can be found near the village of San Giovanni d'Asso.
Also interesting is the production of a cheese made from sheep's milk called "Pecorino delle Crete Senesi".

Ces temps, j'essaie de faire du tri dans mes photos (c'est impressionnant de voir combien d'images j'ai pris durant ces 7 dernières années !!!) et ce faisant, j'ai retrouvé cette macro "shootée" en 2015 (oh la la, ça date !).
Il y a tellement d'images qui "sommeillent" quelque part dans mes archives et qui attendent patiemment d'être -un jour peut-être- postées dans ma galerie que ça me donne presque le tournis !
