Before Project 365, I may have noticed how pretty the soap bubbles were, but I never would have pulled out a camera to take a photo. Still, it wasn't a very interesting photo but I never got around to taking any others. I played around in Photoshop until I got something I like. What'd do you think of my art?
Just a note to say thanks for visiting my stream. I hit 10,000 views sometime over the weekend. I appreciate every view, comment and fave!
it's a dirty job but somebody has got to do it.

Women’s Lib came too late for this mom.
Stevan Dohanos (1907 – 1994) was born in Lorain, Ohio and grew up a great admirer of Norman Rockwell, going so far as to copy his Saturday Evening Post cover illustrations in crayon that he sold to friends, relatives, and co-workers. Little did he know he would develop a close personal friendship with Rockwell as his own art graced the Post’s cover 123 times over the course of his lifetime.
During World War II, Dohanos aided the war effort by painting recruitment posters and wall murals for federal buildings. He also designed stamps for the federal government which he did the rest of his life. He oversaw the art design for over 300 stamps, including the 1967 John F. Kennedy commemorative stamp.
As magazine covers turned toward photography and away from illustrations, Dohanos changed careers and did film art for such classics as “White Christmas.”

While washing dishes today I got the idea for this image. This is my cutting board and these are water bubbles that formed when the water hit the laminate surface (no soap here).
Strobist: One Alien Bee 320w/s with softbox @ 45 degrees to right, 1/2 power, triggered by PWs. 60 mm macro.
You know when you decide you're too tired to do the dishes, and then the next day you have twice as many dishes, so you really regret it?
Imagine that you did that. for a week and a half.
Strobist Info: One 580EXII at 1/4 power triggered with a PW, placed on the counter top, pointed down into the dishwasher to brighten things up in there.
I hate dishpan wrists! I have a giant pile of dishes to finish cleaning before my big dinner party tonight, so my wrists are beginning to chafe. Got any calamine lotion?
Another candid from King's Landing, We were just wandering through the Farmhouse, the Cousins had just finished lunch in the dining room and the ladies of the house were doing the dishes.

A gal I dated a few years ago hooked me on using gloves for doing dishes. Now I've hooked Cheryl on it too. Nothing like dry hands after you're done.
It's Sunday and that means football. Somehow, I've missed Cheryl's calls today from the wedding in Seattle. I hope everything went well for her.
The one who cooks isn't supposed to also have to clean, is she?
My Old Man's son is visiting from England, which is a blast. He's a vegan, and I'm having fun trying out some recipes that I've discovered since the last time he visited. (two thumbs WAY UP for the Double-Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake from FatFree Vegan. OMG crazy-good).
But I may have a tendency to go overboard with the number of dishes served at any one meal, which means a lot of clean-up in our tiny little kitchen. Yo. This is part of why I cook, y'all - I hate to clean! But I got stuck with it on Saturday night. At least this kind of thing goes in the bank. You know what I'm talking about, right? My Old Man is going to owe me, yes?

Why do I always have to do the dishes? Didn't I just cook? An awesome dinner too by the way!!
Connor says "That's because you are so good at the dishes, mom!"
Nice try, dude!
GRRR....
nothing particularly interesting to see here, just testing out my seagull TLR. the aperture knob thinger is kaputt, so i'm basically stuck with one aperture setting. since i didn't know what that exact aperture was, i took a bunch of self-portraits with the handy-dandy lightmeter in my xg-1 #3. this first one seems to have come out a smidge overexposed.
Playing around with the time relapse function on my D5000. Not entirely happy with this, but it did make the chores more fun!
Some of these are thrifted, some purchased at discount stores... I love the more unusual looking dishes.
The women cooked and the men cleaned up. How cool is that? My pastor, Jim Pelletier, (right) Jonathan, (red) and Chris (far left) do the dishes while my brother in the background puts things away.

Clean up detail went great after Thanksgiving dinner, as the men made fast work of the mess! My brother in the background, works to put things away as Jonathan in red, and Pastor Jim Pelletier on the right, do dishes.

This is a typical nightly scene in my house. The kids are in bed, the house is quiet, time to try to maintain some kind of order and do the dishes. By the way, I hate cleaning, but I hate feeling stressed over mess even more. The sad part is that I live with three messy boys and I will never be able to achieve the clean house status I long for. I wish I could let it go and just not care...really I do..but you never know which neighbor lurks around the corner, ready to come and and judge me on my messy house. I;m sure I'd get much more enjoyment out of life if I wasn't constantly cleaning something. I'd much rather spend the 8 o'clock hour reading, sewing or rotting my brain on bad reality tv. The real problem here is that I read far too many home magazines. Damn you Better homes and gardens.
I'm a couple of days late posting cause I've had a sick kid, but I really did take the picture within the week timeline.
In Malawi, Africa, 12-year old Flossy gets up at 4:00am to haul water from a distant stream about a mile from her mud-floored house. When she gets home she washes the dishes from last night's humble dinner of cornmeal porridge. More than 300 million Africans currently do not have clean water near their homes - and hauling water from faraway streams is left to the women and girls.
