Smack dab in the middle of the grand foyer of Doha's Hamad International Airport is this huge sculpture, "Untitled (Lamp/Bear)," by Swiss artist Urs Fischer. It stands 23 feet tall and is made of cast bronze, weighing about 20 tons. The piece previously resided in front of the Seagram Building on New York's Park Avenue until some rich oil sheikh decided it would look better in Qatar and paid $6.8 million for it in 2013. In all honesty, I think it's silly. ©2022 John M. Hudson | jmhudson1.com
Falcon Hospital in Souq Waqif, Doha.
In Qatar, the state sponsors a full-fledged hospital for falcons – more than 40 thousand birds pass through it every year. They do everything there – from treating fractures (often caused by a falcon crashing into something at high speed) to prosthetics for broken feathers (necessary to maintain aerodynamic properties) and cosmetic procedures such as sharpening beaks and claws.

"In the Palace of Books" - a tribute to the word, be it written, printed or digital.
Anyone who passes the narrow entrance under the wide cantilevered triangle of the floating roof is left breathless. The visitor enters a light, bright palace for books, supported by glass walls and a few slender, tall columns. The shelves are grouped on rising tiers, like spectators in a Roman theater.
It has been a long time since last time we went to these places for photography! really miss these days!
