As sgv cats and dogs commented last week, we got to experience first real rain this week with Misty in her wagon. It's definitely tricky, but manageable with proper rain gear, some speed walk, and just lots of towel drying. 😊

We finally bought a stroller... With most crew members ageing and many not wanting to walk more than a few minutes, I just couldn't keep on carrying one or two or three at the same time :).

I'm happy to report that Misty had a good stable week.😊 It's been a hot week, but the early mornings have been very pleasant.

Cherry blossom season here has ended a while ago, but we still find these little lovely patches of fallen petals here and there. We have been enjoying the spring weather lately and even had a couple days of summer like warmth...I'm definitely not in a rush for summer to arrive!

Leaves are falling rapidly and soon there won't be any remaining...makes us extra sad this year.

We've been very blessed with some glorious fall weather lately. This was yesterday when we first went to the park and then took a long stroll through the surrounding neighborhoods on our way to the market, marveling at the change of colors. As many of you have suggested last week, we stopped and had some more ice cream and this time, Misty knew right away that it was for her!

I think I'm going to treasure this picture...for the memory of us laughing so much and just having a wonderful time together without worrying about the future.☺️

Yesterday was the official halfway mark between Misty's 14th and 15th year, which is a pretty big deal for us and definitely called for some special celebration. We had a great time with this photoshoot while on our morning walk and many laughs. When I got home and looked through all the photos, this one just stood out--there were many other "happy" pics of her, but this one just grabbed my heart...

We've had this little wagon for over a month now and to say that it's been a lifesaver for us wouldn't be an exaggeration. We honestly couldn't make it one day without it in caring for Misty. At the time when we got it, it was really out of desperation and we didn't have much faith that it would help, but here we are...it's given us the precious gift of extra time.

What it also gave us is the opportunity to explore some parts of the city with Misty that she hasn't been able to see before. It's clunky, hard to maneuver and cannot handle even the slightest little bumps in it's path, but we still think it's pretty great!

The weather this week was generally wet and dreary, but we did have one good day to enjoy. We realized that with all our focus on Misty's mobility lately, we missed most of the beautiful cherry blossom season this year. Determined to get at least one decent picture of her with the blossoms, we went out looking and managed to capture some of the last bit of it...all in all, it was a great day to be out and Misty enjoyed it very much.

Misty's condition has worsen further this week and she's now at a point where she can no longer manage the short walk to and from our condo to outside, even with our assistance. We started using this wagon couple days ago to transport her in and out. It's not so easy to maneuver and not as smooth of a ride as our stroller, but the open top makes it so much easier to lift her in/out of. I know this is not something we can sustain for too long...but, it's allowing us some extra time right now while we prepare our minds and hearts...

We had a bit of a long and rough week...Misty had a very difficult time keeping any weight on her legs, and she seemed spacey and afraid of her surroundings whenever she was outside. We've had these dips in her condition before which she has been able to recover from with adjustments to her meds/supplements and lots of rest, so that's what we're once again hoping for. She did seem a little better by Friday, so we took her out yesterday for a quick outing to let her to enjoy some fresh air. We believe these outings really are therapeutic and although it's physically demanding, she's mentally more alert both during and afterward.

Now that Missy is getting older she really struggles to enjoy her longer walks like usual. Strollers are such a good idea for elderly dogs, she still gets to be out and about and not feel like she's missing out on fun times, plus she looks utterly adorable in it! ha.

It's been a roller coaster of a week. Started out last Sunday evening (soon after I posted), Misty had 2 episodes of what we think were mini seizures. They only lasted for about 10 seconds and each time it ended with her relieving herself. Next day, we went ahead and started her on her new med, and since then, she hasn't had another episode. I don't know whether it's due to the med, but we are noticing an overall improvement in her condition, so I think it's helping. We've been on pins and needles all week, but at this time I think she's stable...

This was on Independence Day when we felt Misty was well enough for a quick outing. She did great!

What a difference a week makes--we were treated to an unseasonably warm and dry weather all this week. It was a great day to take the stroller out and soak in the abundance of sunshine.

Just another stroll enjoying nature's display of wonderful colors. We feel very fortunate to be surrounded by so much beauty and to be able to get out and enjoy it with Misty.

Her mysterious birthday present turns out to be a dog stroller. I'm hoping she'll learn to love it and use it intermittently by her choice. That way we can still keep doing our favorite walks.

So far, though, Blanca does have grave concerns about the wisdom of this contraption! It will take some time to get comfortable with it.

The stroller itself is fabulous and I wouldn't mind riding in it myself! The tagline for this model is: Senior dog luxury for the outdoors!

When I read that, I chuckled and thought that's exactly what I want for her! :)

We don't usually let our dogs have real ice cream, but I figured what could possibly be the harm in letting Misty enjoy a bit of it at this point in her life? So, we let her have a few licks of the spoon, and of course she loved it!

As I reflect on another week, I'm amazed by Misty's resilience...and ours. Somehow, we're finding a way to make this last a bit longer. Thanks to all once again for encouraging us on in Misty's journey.❤️

Early morning walk through the arboretum where azaleas and rhododendrons are looking fantastic. Misty's condition seems to be stable for now and she really likes going on these stroller rides. As soon as we put her into it, she immediately puts her chin down on the pillow we have propped up against the front opening and she is just happy to be taking in everything. She looks so darn cute, and we do get a lot of looks and smiles from people we pass.😊

Actually, this week was quite pleasant, but we are looking at 90 degree weather all next week...😩

Blanca was rather terrified of the stroller at first, but once she started to ride in it, she quickly understood the benefit of it and now she actually gets excited when I take it out.

This was the first day I took some video and also the first time she appeared to ask to get onboard. She hopped in so readily that I wasn't even totally prepared to hold it steady the first time.

I'm very happy with the stroller and definitely would recommend it.

A very full and precious week...not wanting the last few remaining days or weeks with Misty to be wasted in sadness, we stayed busy and engaged in the present. We spent as much time as we could with her--went to check out our favorite dahlia garden at the park, shared a slice of pizza at our favorite local spot, walked the streets while people/dog watching, and stopped by the cat cafe to say hello which piqued her curiosity. We are still making memories and for that, I am grateful.

Thank you all for your thoughtful comments last week. I really appreciate every one of them.❤️

Lately we've had spectacular fall weather and very low afternoon tides. Blanca and I have been taking the stroller out for some great walks and I just wanted to share and let everyone enjoy with us! :)

I think we have finally turned the weather corner and things are starting to feel more like fall. A very pleasant morning at the park with the sun peaking through the trees and enjoying the late blooming hydrangeas.

Misty's bad hind legs have gotten noticeable worse this week and she has fallen twice on her walks. We ordered a supplemental handle/leash to her full harness which I hope will help in better supporting her. In the meantime, this is how she's enjoying the outside--she's gotten a lot more comfortable riding in it and can now lie down. :)

With the arrival of more pleasant days, people go out for a walk more and with them their dog friends who are seen to be very happy with this season, because it means there are more walks for them!

It is so fascinating to see dogs everywhere and even more when they are pampered like these two little ones, who are undoubtedly very aware of what is in their way just enjoying the ride

I finally decided to by one of those doggy strollers... With so many dogs ageing and rescues not willing to walk in the streets so much, this was just the only solution to my aching back :). And they kind of like it!

We made it through another week...it's been a mixed bag of emotions and moments, with lots of debates and talks...

Here's a shot of a happier memory from this week--whenever we're out with Misty, we can't help but to draw a lot of attention. A lot of smiles, "oohs" and "awws" and some even quizzical looks. Some will approach us and ask questions, some will share their own stories and offer us encouragements and sometimes we're even met by strangers that tell us that they've seen us with Misty for quite some time now and that they are touched by us.

Mummy and Daddy will soon be getting a new set of wheels, so is our Max! Unfortunately Max has severe destructive arthritis in his elbows and a spinal issue and his mobility and level of pain is poor. So, a trip to the Vets for a pain assessment has led to commencing on "Librela" to reduce his pain, Ketamine if needed but a set of spanking new wheels to allow him to come walking with us to relieve the weight off his joints and spine. We shall use Max's new wheels tomorrow in a visit to Batemans, Kipling's home in East Sussex.......

This poor dog, Theo, had been receiving treatment for cancer and seemed to bounce back just fine. Now he's had a relapse, on a drip and back in treatment. He seemed to enjoy being out and about and smell the other dogs in the dog park though.

This cute little Basenji puppy was rescued by someone in Athens. We saw her at Wiggly Field in the little dog section. She got peed on the head by a giant Dalmation from the other side of the fence.

Hahahahahahah, spent the entire day thrifting with Amanda. But we were both so tired that it was hard for us to keep attention and actually look around. This is a crap picture, but probably the funniest from the entire day. Some woman crossing the street with her dog in a stroller. We laughed for a good few minutes, haha.

I don't normally watch The Nine Lives of Chloe King, but I watched it tonight since it looked like such a good episode and DAMN I'M GLAD I DID because now she and Alek have kissed, and they were cute and yeah good :*

Stratford Upon Avon

When we told people we wanted to spend three months in Taiwan, they frequently asked "Why?" This album is why: amazing national parks, delicious noodles, bubble milk tea, neon night markets, friendly people, Buddhist temples and shrines, winding trains, green mountains and tea plantations, and much, much more. Here are our travels in the isle Formosa.

We adopted an Italian Greyhound for Chris. He named her Abby.
