He just loves when I chase him around in the house
If Im not aware he will grab it and run out into the garden with it and hoping I will chase him there too
Too much snow to give him that pleasure now , his toy will be gone for months under the snow
And it is the only one I have left inside
When spring is coming I always find loads of his forgotten toys underneath the snow, stuck in the ice
Mark and Aiko always plays together, I know Aiko will love the 5 weeks that are ahead

He is of the breed Finnish Lapphund, a Suomenlapinkora
They herd reindeers normally, they can herd sheep too
This breed loves snow and Aiko can hold both warmth and cold - his coat keeps him balanced
He loves to be laying out in the snow, all covered up, totally white
He dislikes male dogs
He loves females
He loves playing around
He has lots of toys and especially cuddle toys
He likes to think they are his bitches

They say that the dog often resembles the owner

Group challenge: My dog and me
It may sound corny, but Cookie and I have a very special relationship. I know he wouldn't cope without me and I probably wouldn't be the same without him.
Aiko is the coolest dude I know, well of course you Flickr dudes are really cool too, but his way of begging is probably cutest 😁
I think I have to rewrite the saying "Sharing is caring" with
"Staring is sharing"

When we are out hiking and this guy stops, looks at me and licks his mouth I know he wants to stop and have a break
And a break means eating my food
"So mom, hand over the liver pate, you can take my dried duck-treats"
I guess that is something that lies deep in us, we think what others have are always the best
Being aware of what you have is indeed important, than you will cherish it, take care of it, nourish it - either it is people close to you, your surroundings, things you have, things you have got rid of, the freedom you have, the small moments of joy - wow, so many, many things we have close to us and we don't even give them a thought
If you don't know what you have close to you - well, how can you be aware of it and cherish?
It's a kind of Catch-22 isn't it
"I'm ready mom, my wintercoat is on, lets disappear into the wilderness, but please not so deep snow this time...."
I always obey, of course - I think...
Whenever I see straight forward, no mirror, this is what I see.
If I see in the mirror I see me.
But, wow, I'm much more than what I see.

Cheking if there is anybody who needs his help
He is such a herder
If we are 3 out hiking and one of them turns to go home he will barely move
His herd is not complete
So he waits
Bites a stick
Roll around
Wants go back to check where the last person went
Such a sweet dog he is
Finnish Lapphunds are reindeer herders from the start, they herd whatever you set them too
Even me
If he wants to go home and he is exhausted he bites my legs to get me moving in the right direction
Yes it was a bit annoying, but I understood what he was doing

It's a non stop thing.
Unconditional love, both ways, always.

Of course it's healthy for you.
We should be born into this world with prescription on some kind of pet.

He chose us for a reason, I'm so sure of it
We were on the look out for a mixed breed dog and didn't quite find the one we wanted.
So we decided that we should look for qualities we needed to be in a dog and found this breed; Finnish lapphund
On April 21st 2014 I suddenly got this strange message in my head, totally out of nowhere: "The dog is born"
And I said it out loud and my family looked at me, "OK Mom is going strange again....."
I didn't even think of it anymore.
I continued searching for the dog. Found some breeders, mailed them and put me up on lists and did actually get no's from them all.
Then out of the blue one of the breeders contacted me, she had had a cancellation, we talked on the phone, we had a very nice chemistry and were invited up to her place to say Hi.
There was 8 dogs in the litter and they were all over the place and I could't see the difference on any of them, all were very cute.
Then I thought I needed some help (yesyes, I know :D) and said inside "The dog we are supposed to have must show himself", and what happend the moment I had finished the thought, hehe - one of them started to circulate around me several times while I was sitting on the grass.
He sniffed at me and I took him up and said that this little chap seemed interested.
The breeder said he was one of the two that were available.
Wooohoooo!!
And what date was he born, hehe - I almost fainted when I noticed that it was the same date as I got this strange message in my head.
Meant to be, yup.
Best dog for me ever, yup.
Will he keep me company, yes yes - in lonely days, in happy days, in ordinary days.
I'm EvaThrilled to keep him in my home, that was not necessarily an option on the path I have chosen now.
King Aiko in my heart, definitely!
He loves to chill his tummy on the snow. When he goes out on the porch he climbs on top of the snow (it's 1 meter snow in the garden now) and lays down and has a pretty nice view to the world out there.

For me
I don't think Aiko was too thrilled on this enormous hike we took, so he gave me this look several times....
I realized at least that carrying a cam is no problem on long hikes, I thought actually it would be a burden.
But I guess my EvaThrilled feelings took the weight.
It was sooo fun to click with a real cam 😂
And all this thrill thanks to my FlickrFriend 🙏

My King Aiko is surely a snow dog
He can lay on his viewpoint and be totally covered with snow
His coat is so warm and fluffy
He really enjoys this weather
Here he is inviting me to throw him a snowball
His eyes and attitude is always easy to tell
Waiting for Mark, he has disappeared into the Viking world in one of the history centers we have here 😊
Lots of sheep on the hike we are about to take towards a Viking farm, Aiko is waiting patiently 😁😌

This guy has such a marvelous coat
It's the softest there is
And he has loads around his face and especially around his neck
It works like the best pillow ever
I had to take quite a lot off, he normally doesn't like it
But now he obviously thought it was quite lovely
Today we have 25C, I'm definitely not built for this heat
And neither is my King
I'm not complaining tho, I just adapt
We walk in the evening and do little outside when the heat is on :D
Well, it looks like she took this. :) Our poor baby is having to spend a night (or several) at the vet's office . . .
We just went through several nights at an emergency vet facility with Chloe- who is recovering well- but now Angel is sick, too. Diagnosis of HGE- onset of which is VERY rapid, and no idea of a cause . . . We are almost to the point of burning the entire yard for lack of anything else to try . . .
Research shows that miniature schnauzers are common sufferers . . . We are hoping and praying that Sidi does not turn up sick, too. I wish our health care insurance covered our fur babies. We are fast approaching a wall with the vet bills, which is horrific, and no reflection on the great care that our dogs have received in both facilities- these folks are GREAT and caring. Just a sad fact that funds are not infinite . . . Doing the best we can.
