Anyone who has had the honor and privilege of living in the company of dogs can appreciate both the terrible sense of loss when they are no longer around as well as the wonder of memories that keep them forever in our hearts.

Today, September 7, 2020, I celebrate my two Pups who would have turned seventeen years old today. For the thousands of hikes and adventures, the days filled with long walks, daily jogs, and play time, the evenings spent cuddling and enjoying the roaring fire in the fireplace, I give thanks! But mostly for the many years I got to share my life with you, I am grateful beyond measure.

Run free, sweet puppy dogs, and know I am sending you my love. September 7th will always have a special place in my heart.

Had to cross the street and take this shot. More dogs barking at me at their gate. I had another shot like this of other dogs recently. This would have been good for "Big versus Small" on the past Crazy Tuesday!

I saw these two cuties having their morning walk, they were looking at me at one stage sitting there but they moved before I could click.

Just to wish all my Flickr friends a Happy Week-end and for all the support you have shown me :)

at Pointe Betsie Lighthouse. I am a big dog lover, so imagine my surprise when we visited this lighthouse and I saw 4 dogs!!!!! I got to pet them and get doggie lovins. I was told they were therapy dogs. They sure made my day!

As I was doing my ocean side walk one day, in front of me I noticed this cute little Pomeranian dog sticking out of a pouch in a woman's backpack. She was about 20 ft. ahead of me, and since I only had a 40mm mounted on my camera I had to speed up and get quite close to her to get a shot. She sensed me behind her and abruptly turned around to see me bent over about 3ft. behind her taking the shot. She shouted, are you taking a picture of my rear end? Of course I explained to her that it was her dog I was interested in, not her butt, which calmed her down, she then allowed me also to take a closeup portrait of her dog which I posted long ago, if interested you can find it in my Dogs Album.

Cynophobia: fear of dogs. A traumatic encounter with a dog, or growing up in a family that fears dogs, may be at the core of this phobia.

Ich werde zwar nicht mit den Hunden Gassi gehen, aber ich werde ein paar Tage unterwegs und erst gegen Ende der Woche zurück sein. Ich wünsche allen eine gute Woche :))

I'm not going to walk the dogs, but I will be off for a few days and be back by the end of the week. I wish you a great week ahead :))

"Although hyenas appear similar to dogs, they are actually more closely related to cats. They live throughout much of Africa and eastwards through Arabia to India. Spotted hyenas live together in large groups called clans that may include up 80 individuals and are led by females".

Yes, I know about "how cute" and "who can resist?" We had her over a couple of times and she does know us. Even more, she seems to see us as part of her family. In fact, I believe that she regards herself as a "child" belonging to a family of humans. She made it perfectly clear that she has certain expectations in terms of participating in our social life, eating our kind of food - almost asking for equality and fair play. Now my question is, how does evolution work in this case? Did dogs evolve to bond with humans? Did humans develop affinity to dogs? Or, is there a process of mutual co-evolution or even co-assimilation?

Zeke 27/?52 week for Dogs

Even dogs love a nice view. Here we are well on our way down from Skafonnfjellet, the mountain we walked up in the previous posting. I thought I had to take you back down again too, since I have tempted you to follow me all the way up :-)

In the mainphoto Varg enjoys the views north towards Håheimsvatnet and further on the smaller Bolsetvatnet. And of course the mountains surrounds them! I am pretty sure he would love to walk them all. There is grouse on most of them, and who knows, he might be a splendid bird dog.

There are more photos in the first comment below here.

PS: I wonder what you, my dear friends and contacts, can handle. In Norway we have a few "interesting" traditional foods. One that is mostly known from the place where I grew up at Voss is Smalahove. Sheeps head.

I am the leader of the local ungdomslag en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noregs_Ungdomslag and one of our traditions is to arrange a Smalahove party in the local ungdomshus every last Saturday in October. To be able to that we prepare the sheep head a month ahead, a rather huge job for a party with 105 guests + the people cooking serving and so on.

This year I and a friend took a series of photos of the tradional way of burning off the wool, and all the other processes needed to make the worlds best Smalahovefest. I like this food a lot, and I like to be part of keeping up traditions that use all of the animal and gather the community to a fun night together.

Would you be able to stomack these photos?

Dogs have personalities for sure. This guy is full of tricks and gags. He will allow Rachel to dress him in most anything. He’s protective, loves the outdoors and has an appetite of two dogs his size. He loves his life (taken from a shelter he spent almost a year in) and he loves immeasurably. A good fun loving pair they are. He comes here 2 or 3 Friday’s a month while she’s at work. He enriched my days and he’s probably not even aware of it🐾🐾

An odd sight along Lake Potter on a foggy morning. Just chillin' and enjoying the view.

One of the best things about being away is catching up with loved ones when you return :-)
