Morning all. Hope everyone had a lovely chocolate filled Easter weekend.
Not my usual subject matter but when asked by my Aunt to take some pics of her dog how could I refuse. They say don't work with kids or animals, I see why now. This dog was nuts! Getting him to stand still was almost impossible, getting him to not chew the end of my lens off was a separate challenge all together!
I found this great harness that is actually for working dogs. It is very safe and has a handle so you can lift the doggie in case of, well, anything... It covers a big part of the body, which acts as an anti-anxiety vest, perfect for anxious dogs. And you can add patches like this one, so if people mind reading, they will get the message right away!
I added another patch on the other side that says "mama says I'm special". Just perfect for our special boy :).

Our old pupper enjoyed relaxing on the big area rug at Eloise and Jim’s place on Weiss Lake in Centre, Alabama. This exposure was at a happy family gathering was enjoyed by all. included Ritzy. Note: Ritzy’s hair is not so deep. At about eighteen years old, she’s pretty much gray. I used Snapseed’s tools to knock back this sweet’s age a decade.
We drove up to Centre, Alabama to visit Donna’s mom. Ritzy settled in on her secured bed in the back seat. She’s also secured so that she won’t go flying in case of a fast stop or worse.

Lots of dogs usually pull a lot when excited to experience nature or to reach the new dogs. Our harness attributes no pull dog harness to enable you to have good control of your dog by fixing the leash on the front clip. Whenever the dog pulls, he/she got transformed rather than continuing forward and pulling on the leash. Shortly the dog will learn not to pull.

We went tent camping at Frozen Head State Park for my Birthday weekend. Checked-in Saturday, April 20th and checked-out on Monday, April 22nd.
Got to the Big Cove Camping area and our campsite (No. 12) at 3pm. And got everything set up shortly there after. We made up our Silver Turtles (Ground beef, Seasoning, Potatoes O'Brien and Brown gravy). Chilled around the camp fire and went to sleep around Midnight.
Saturday morning I took our pup, Rose to potty on part of the Lookout Tower trail. Got some iPhone images while we went up part of the trail. We had Egg, Ham and Cheese scramble for breakfast. Then chilled next to the fire-pit. Then cooked Hotdogs over the campfire for lunch. Put some processed American cheese and Boar's Head mustard on them. Drove down to the Panther Branch trailhead. Hiked to Debord and Emory Gap waterfalls.
Came back to our campsite and then took a nap. Got up after 8pm and we made my birthday dinner: Beth making the Instant Potatoes and me panfrying the Steak on the camp stove. Chilled some more next to the fire-pit. Went to sleep after 11pm. Temp went below 40 degrees overnight. Slept till around 9am Started tearing down our camp site at around 10am and got everything put in the car in a half hour! Had to wait a little bit before we left (due to a stuck Ranger pickup in a drain ditch next to our campsite).
Once on Route 62 (Knoxville Highway) we were delayed due to some road construction. We then continued on our way back home to Knoxville. Getting home just before Noon.

I came back to Japan to visit my family yesterday. Here is my parents' lovely cavalier "Momo". She just turned 6years old a week ago. She is still a very active and mischievous young lady. Certainly not middle-aged yet!!
In the summer GoPro released a dog harness called 'the fetch'. I picked it up expecting to catch some dock jumping videos, but sadly our weather got colder so the dock jumping dog-POV pictures will have to wait until next summer.
In the mean time, I was waiting for snow to catch some fun play shots in the back yard. Eva was unimpressed with the harness. Bruno, however, did not seem to care. He easily walked and ran around in it, even taking a nap within five minutes of putting it on.
In both of these shots you can see Eva waiting by the back door, while my hairy assistant walks around and takes a nap.

Boots was our Airedale. He had 2 flaws, he liked to knock my sister and me down after scaring us silly by charging at us, and he would jump the fence school mornings. He would then steal the lunch sacks and lunch pails from kids standing at the bus stop. Needless to say he had quite a reputation in our neighborhood. One day Boots jumped the fence in search of a lunch, he never returned. I don't recall missing him.

A canine tackle is a delicate way of keeping a wide range of canines in full control without them feeling excessively limited. It gives you more control and security with extraordinary solace for your canine.
I am simply holding the harness and the mount is only sitting in place on the football shoulder pad. I have not finished it out and tried it on my dog, but the harness is able to be cinched down to remain tight on the dog, so I expect it to work. At least I hope it will.
UPDATE: I found the plastic pad works much better without the foam padding applied. It fits the curve of a dog's head and will also work on a human head. It has pre-cut holed for straps, but a good pop rivit gun can add any additional straps to the unit for mods. This assembly can perhaps even be used without having to attach it directly to the dog harness. I added both a threaded 1/4" set screw and 3M Dual Lock tape for attachment of the camera. The above pic shows just one of the GoPro mounts attached. Again, the soft pads do not have to be added to this mod, but can be if you wish.
Buying a no pull dog harness is one of those things that new owners seldom consider before getting their dog. Before you actually sit down and check out the number of available options it looks like an almost simple decision that doesn't value a second idea. The pad was cut off the other football shoulder pad assembly, but will be trimmed when in use as a mod. The middle section has 3M Dual Lock tape to secure a camera and could easily be modified to attach a GoPro tripod mount or other mount onto at this point. This piecs is rigid, but still has some flex to it. It fits the shape of a dog's head pretty well and can also be put onto a human's head and straps added to secure it into place. It has pre-cut holes for straps, but pop rivits can allow additional straps to be added. On a bicycle, as a helmet, I can see this being handy as a helmet mod. Heck, you could even add a flashlight holder to the thing if you wished. This is one of my favorite pices to make a mod out of from this old football pad set. In this pic I had not removed the round brads from the pad. I found them easy to grind off from behind and have since removed them and the cut off pieces of binding/straps. The foam underpadding can be used or removed, as you wish.

I bought this harness for Rusty but she was too big for it. The thing is actually made for a small dog. I tried it on Sole and he had a fairly successful 15 minutes as seen in these photos. Once he stopped walking backwards to try to get out of it he ran all over the place ... jumping on the furniture ... leaping onto the bathroom counter for a drink ... and happily accepting treats.
I think we might be onto something here.

get yourself a good sturdy back basket on your bike. We bought a car harness from 'ezydog' but there are plenty of brands out there. Using some cable ties, secure the harness strap to the basket base. It's a good idea to put the cable ties around one of the stronger bottom bars as well. I've done it so if you want to take it off (to use in the car, for instance), you can unwind from the cable ties without having to cut them.

Shame to have to ruin it for football use, but I needed the parts for DIY mods. Lots of ideas come to mind. This set of pads cost me under $4.00 bucks at Goodwill. It will yeild at least 4 different camera supports or mounts and possibly more. The pads on top will make supports for a steadicam set up and the smaller pads which are not showing in the pic will make some dog helmets or human helmet mods. The thick padding can be used for any number of things. Not a bad buy for making mods out of.
