Rhett with his "girlfriend", Zuma. She is crazy about him and he is sort of bewildered about the whole thing.

Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Churchill takes good care of his walnut. Of course he is not allowed to eat it.

Cali enjoying her walkies again in the sunshine on a lovely day.

Just looking straight

at me... just perfect

Cali just waiting for us to get her lead for her walk.

On walk in The Estuary

Cali waking in the estuary in and out of the water pools!!!

Just having doggy fun.

I adopted this cute dog-day cicada as my pet for a day and it was no trouble at all to take care of since these adults do not eat. Their larvae typically live underground for three years, feeding on nutrients taken from pine tree roots before emerging now as adults during the hot and steamy dog days of August.

Cali on walk with both of us in the estuary at Talsarnau,Gwynedd North Wales.

Cali posing for the camera lens on our walk together to the estuary.

Cali managed to go around the Rock's near the bench and get to the sandy beach.

She is here trying to work out how to get back to us

Over a walled area!!!

Cali looking all around on her walk in the estuary in Talsarnau.

Being very alert and vigilant.

En période caniculaire, l'important est de...

...Rester frais !

Sunset on a sultry Summer day in Sussex... I suspect there are too many S's and not enough dogs in this photo. But them's the breaks! ...end message...

Cali with her new treat of a Bone...

She took to hiding under the Dining Room

table for over 1 hour, happy and content.

Followed by the longest drink of water 💧 [ funny and lovely too ]

The dog-day cicada comes out during the dog days of August - typically coinciding with a stretch of very hot and steamy summer weather here in Iowa. The dog days are so-called because Sirius - the Dog Star - appears in the eastern sky just before sunrise now in late summer and sky watchers in ancient times believed the bright light from Sirius amplified the light coming from the sun rising soon after, causing this seasonal searing heat wave. That does sound like a pretty convincing scientific explanation to me. By the way, the "song" of this dog-day cicada is a very loud high-pitched whine sounding like somebody sawing wood with a chain saw. Try sleeping with a hundred noisy cicadas calling from the treetops around your house now.

Mili & Cali enjoying freedom on a deserted beach walk and just having an adventure!!!

This cicada is still wet after just emerging from its final nymph stage molt. It was living underground at the base of this aspen tree for a year or more before digging out and climbing up the trunk to turn into that fantastic "harvest fly"!

Now is the time of year when the dog star is visible above the horizon in the northern hemisphere. These "dog" days of August are typically sultry and hot and signal the season when this cool little cicada starts to sing!

...enfin.

Surtout du (trop) beau temps. :-))

After a dogday of hard dogwork.

Thanks for all the faves and comments, even for just taking the time to view my photo's, much appreciated.

Comment résumer la canicule 2022 ?

Il y a plein d'images possibles, certes.

Mais en voici une.

Eh oui je me suis (encore) extirpé hors d'Alençon...

The majesty of our Hebridean skies, and the tranquility of our island beaches portrayed by one man and his dog.

chai the smooth saluki. this was taken 2 days after chai's 9th birthday. he got a bowl of ice cream and 4 chocolate chips.

it's been chilly here, foggy and humid. chai prefers warm. so....after he takes a runaround in the field, he comes in to his chair and curls up. [secretly hoping for a fire in the wood stove, I think.]

the color version is below in the comments.

After record-breaking heat here in California, the autumn weather change will be most welcome! This sunset was taken after a day of 110F (43C) temperatures. The heat broke today. Praying for those affected by the weather, fires, and those affected by the horrible storms in the Southern United States.

This strange looking, noisy little critter flew unto a dead Winged Sumac in front of my living room window. I saw it fly in and thought it was a hummingbird. But when it sat very still I grabbed my camera and took a few pictures. Some hummer, heh?

Remembering Mili today.

Three years ago at 12, our White German Shepherd passed away in our arms.

Fom a 9 week puppy, she gave unconditional love every day of her little life.

Really sadly missed, by her sister Cali and us 💔💔💔🐾

Enjoying another walk with myself and my friend.

She just had another paddle in the lake again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still no-one there, so a perfect time for pets to be off their leads and be free to roam and have fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!
