Praia do Forte is a long beach with a beautiful small village 80 km from Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. The beach is known for its clear waters, white sand, natural pools, rivers and an ecological reserve of native flora and fauna. It is a very special place for us where we got married 9 years ago. We keep coming year after year and I always get rewarded with unique moments of tranquility and contemplation of Life.
The theme of last month's Fashion Fetish event was '40s pin-up as voted for by Good for Party's readers and let me just say to all the readers who did vote: you couldn't have picked a better theme! Our stylists (Anna Lee Jackson & Kelly Moriarty of Studio 110) and photographer (Richard Pack, dickyp.com) made it all look so easy; capturing the sultry vixen look so prevalent in the '40s with perfect up-do's, red lips and spotlight lighting. Impromptu vignettes topped the night off as the girls showed off their gams, played the piano and made boys feel like real gentlemen (by letting them buy them a martini or two, of course). For all you fashion savvy and fashion loving ladies and gentlemen; make sure you stayed tuned to the Good for Party Network- it's the only way to know of the truly avant fashion and music events worth going to in this great city- period.
So my younger brother Richard and I enjoy making T-shirts every now and then.
This year we're adding our own image instead of using stock photos. He sent me a drawing he did, and I cleaned it up a bit in Paint.net so the printer can use it.
It depicts a scene from our childhood in which we convinced our youngest brother Matt to get into the dryer.
As you can see, Mom found out before we could shut the door and turn it on.

Hey all!! Well, I hoped to have this finished to show you, but alas, I will need to get cozy with my seam ripper after some unfortunate puckers/skipped stitches which caused me to cease the quilting for the moment.
I definitely wanted to share the layout, however, so here is a peek at the unfinished November quilt!

A contribuição do Programa de Pós-Graduação Stricto sensu em Desenvolvimento Social (PPGDS) para a discussão das questões relacionadas ao progresso e à melhoria das condições de vida do Norte de Minas foi enaltecida em solenidade da Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros (Unimontes), na manhã dessa quinta-feira (16/03). O evento marcou a defesa da 100ª dissertação de mestrado, no auditório do prédio 3 do campus-sede.
Participaram integrantes da gestão superior, professores, mestrandos e ex-alunos do Mestrado em Desenvolvimento Social, que foi o primeiro programa de pós-graduação Stricto sensu próprio implantado pela Unimontes, criado em 2004.
A 100ª dissertação, intitulada “Amados e Amaros – a trajetória histórica, social e política de uma comunidade quilombola na garantia do direito a um território”, foi defendida pela aluna Maria Ester Santana Silveira Nascimento, que teve seu trabalho aprovado com louvor. O trabalho apresenta o histórico de uma família de remanescentes de escravos que tenta, na Justiça, reaver as terras quilombolas na zona rural de Paracatu (MG).
