Dockland is an office building on the Elbe and is located in Hamburg's Altona-Altstadt district. The six-storey building has a cross-section in the shape of a parallelogram and juts out over the water like the bow of a ship.
From the large roof terrace, which is open to the public, there is a good view of the port of Hamburg and the northern bank of the Elbe. The terrace can be reached via two flights of stairs.
The Dockland is a six-storey office building in Hamburg, Germany. It was made from glass and steel and is located right next to the Elbe river. The silhouette gives the impression of a ship and it is a pretty popular photo spot.
This was a spur of the moment long exposure. I didn't put any thought into the composition, I was drawn to the beautiful golden reflections in the river. I wasn't sure about the jetty in the RH lower corner of the frame at first, but I think it gives a sense of perspective and location to the photo.

In trying to find some lesser known photography spots, I happened upon this footbridge over the Manchester Ship Canal in the Manchester Docklands, by the media city.
I took my Mad Scientist down to Docklands Firelight Festival last night with a visiting NZ friend. It was lovely to see the area with plenty of people, lights and performers. We had an early dinner at Cargo Restaurant beside the water and looked over the Bolte Bridge. Then wandered around the entertainment until time to go home. This is a mobile phone photo which was much easier to take around but doesn't quite get as good a photo as a fast lens and decent DSLR.
Yesterday was a cold and rainy day which fortunately held off for this festival. Though it was pouring rain when I got home.

Finally got around to getting a fairly decent picture out of this shot thanks to using luminosity masks. Tried getting a good hard selection for the sky but that crane to the left of One Canada Square tower was really giving me some grief.
