most liverpool docks had these gatehouses built at the entrance,as part of the design, to house dock policemen and watchmen. I don`t remember what the small shield said
over tho doorway,this one was blank
Les Docks, dans le quartier de La Joliette à Marseille, sont construits de 1858 à 1864 selon le modèle des docks anglais, et constitués de cinq bâtiments de sept étages pour une longueur totale de 365 mètres. Les travaux de réhabilitation démarrent en 1992. Les Docks de Marseille sont ouverts le 10 octobre 2015 et inaugurés le 4 décembre 2015.

Looking east down the 15c nave & 1875 north aisle added by Frederick Preed, to the 14c chancel. The rood suspended from the chancel arch was erected in memory of the men who gave their lives . Previously it was lit by oil lamps flic.kr/p/21Msnzm before electric lighting was installed in 1937 in memory of John Hugh Montague Hare of Docking Hall - Church of St Mary the Virgin, Docking Norfolk

Since I don't have any ND filters, I was forced to reduce the aperture down all the way it would go for a longer exposure. Result? What you see above.. and dust bunnies galore. I need to buy some stuff to clean that thing.
And then I'm going to buy some ND filters.
(I never did end up buying any ND filters.)
La Joliette | Rue des Docks
These were the biggest European docks at that time. Their architecture is inspired by docks in St. Catherine of London and Liverpool. They were then able to store the goods from the port and then ship them by the railway. The industrial docks closed in 1988.

From May 1992 the docks were gradually restored. The architect Eric Castaldi was entrusted with their transformation into office buildings.
Docks are now rehabilitated in respect of a symbolic architecture. They are seats of private companies, civil services, administrative and cultural facilities.
There is also the Public Establishment Euroméditerranée.
