A court is in session,
A verdict is in
No appeal on the docket today
Just my own sin
The walls are cold and pale
The cage made of steel
Screams fill the room
Alone I drop and kneel
Silence now the sound
My breath the only motion around
Demons cluttering around
My face showing no emotion
Shackled by my sentence
Expecting no return
Here there is no penance
My skin begins to burn
So I held my head up high
Hiding hate that burns inside
Which only fuels their selfish pride
All held captive out from the sun
A sun that shines on only some
We the meek are all in one
I hear a thunder in the distance
See a vision of a cross
I feel the pain that was given
On that sad day of loss
A lion roars in the darkness
Only he holds the key
A light to free me from my burden
And grant me life eternally
Should have been dead
On a Sunday morning
Banging my head
No time for mourning
Ain't got no time
All held captive
Out from the sun
A sun that shines on only some
We the meek are all in one
I cry out to God
Seeking only his decision
Gabriel stands and confirms
I've created my own prison
Should have been dead
On a Sunday morning
Banging my head
No time for mourning
Ain't got no time

With a restored Clinchfield F3 and SD45 on the docket, this old U23B certainly didn't have top billing for the Heritage Railroads farewell, but it certainly stole the show. When heavy snow started to fall the night before, we knew we were in for a very special day. On the first trip of the morning, the former L&N U23B rips along kicking up fresh powder. The thought of shooting a U23B in fresh snow in Tennessee had never entered my mind so this was an awesome experience. What a great send off to this neat operation. Thanks to the great group that made this all happen!

The Northtown-Kansas City manifest train passes the former junction (and crossing) of the Green Bay & Western at East Winona. The west end of the GB&W crossed the BN here; at bottom left the line headed across the Mississippi River to Winona, and at top right heads east toward Arcadia, Wisconsin Rapids and Green Bay. GB&W successor Wisconsin Central Ltd. (under the control of parent Canadian National) filed to discontinue service on the line between Arcadia and East Winona, a distance of about 16.9 miles. Although CN will likely never reactivate the line, the Surface Transportation Board filing was for discontinuance, rather than abandonment. The STB approved the discontinuance on August 14, 2019, under docket AB-303-51X.

ragtop day, ragtop,
Continuing along on this easy slow speed chase of Pan Am train NMWA-13 across District One we arrive at the next spot. I hiked east about a half mile from the Palmer Road crossing to capture some details illustrating how far the once great Maine Central Railroad's Portland Division mainline has fallen. Here again is the trio of MEC 510, 316, and 7545 (a GP40-2LW, GP40, and C40-8 respectively) with their 4261 ft long train of 59 loads and 4 empties seen smoking as they slog toward MP 80 on the modern day Freight Main.
The goal post signal with searchlights and piles of ties mark the west end of the of one time 6500 ft long Stetson Siding. The CTC here was installed by the MEC in 1957 and was controlled by the operator at MD tower in a small cabin west of Northern Maine Junction. To see a photo of it I highly recommend this link to a great story: thetracksidephotographer.com/2016/10/06/maine-central-rem...
But with this once busy railroad reduced to only this train up one day and back the next there are no more meets and little need for sidings and signals. Consequently the siding was removed by Gullford years ago, but this hung on as a control point in the woods designated CPF80 until Pan Am finally discontinued the signal and traffic control system as approved on June 15, 2016 per Docket number FRA-2015-0073.

The Clean Water Rule, finalized and put into place in 2015, gave important jurisdictional clarity for the Clean Water Act and it’s protection of streams and creeks that are headwaters to larger rivers. Water belongs to everyone, and clean water is a basic right for Americans. We all live downstream from somewhere.

This is "Gable 3," a custom 1951 Jaguar XK120 SE created as a tribute to Clark Gable. Sold for $220,000
Details Lot # 1321
Known as "Gable 3," this custom 1951 Jaguar XK120 SE had a concours restoration completed in 2025. It is powered by a 3.4-liter dual overhead camshaft inline 6-cylinder engine with approximately 200bhp and dual side-draft SU carburetors all mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. This open two-seater roadster features a removable top and a torsion bar independent front suspension with semi elliptic rear leaf springs. Renowned customizer John D'Agostino and stylist Woodroe Parker created this tribute to actor Clark Gable, who ordered the very first Jaguar delivered to Hollywood, CA. Gable's XK120 was subsequently customized by George Barris and featured a one-piece padded Carson removable top. The redesigning of this car was done front to rear, with a new lower, more sleek profile. All body modifications were done by Oz Kustoms of Oroville, CA. The top and framework were lowered down 3 inches to match the front windshield and A-pillars, which were also lowered 3 inches and laid back 2 inches. All seams on the all-metal body were molded, and the rear quarters were hand-formed and crowned to match the new hand-formed fender skirts, which were also crowned. Then custom-formed side spears/medallions were fitted with Jaguar emblems.
More than two years were spent perfecting the body and fitment of the doors, hood and trunk to ensure even gaps on the entire body. The cabin is finished in beautiful Silver Blue Pearl and features Swedish leather as well as a crystal ashtray fitted by Divines Custom Interiors. The entire cockpit and interior were lowered and lengthened to match the lower profile of the top.

The 499P is my favourite of the current generation hypercars in WEC, and what better way to improve it than to make the spoiler even bigger, slap a V8 in the back, and switch out the yellow for flouro-yellow, which I only have in a few parts, but it suffices for highlights. It really is a powerful colour. I quite like it.
I actually dialed down the craziness of the barge boards, hopefully it's less visually all over the place than it was. In fact, I wish they were more visible. I take pictures with hope that they're not appalling, and frequent disappointment when that turns out to be not the case. Oh well.
Keep scrolling for pictures of all three current speeders together. Imagine how disheartening it must be to have built your speeder from a junkyard, then rock up to the race and your opponent turns up in this super-streamlined monster with full professional support. Good luck!
Next on the docket, and actually almost finished, is a much Star Wars-ier entrant. In fact it's one of the speeders from the upcoming Galactic Racer game. Expect that next week or thereabouts.

Barrett Jackson 2026
Oh hey, look, a photo from me. Layers and waves inside the ever-popular Lower Antelope Canyon back from this past winter.
In other news, temperatures are dropping (YES) and fall is approaching. Going to be foliage time soon here in the northeast, so a few days in Vermont is on the docket next weekend. Aw yeah.
Niagara Yard's Saturday extra U035 blasts through a mighty snowdrift at Comstock Rd near Lockport, heading back to the Falls with a handful of hot cars from the prior day's Falls Road Railroad run.
While regular old L035 runs weekday evenings, U035 gets called as an extra just about every weekend now. It started back in 2023 when a new CO² transload popped up in Medina, NY on the Falls Road. The tank cars, once loaded, demand fast freight service and an immediate ticket out of town, necessitating CSX running an extra trip out to Lockport every week. Up till this business arose, normal fare was the twice a week Tu/Th interchange. However, Falls Road runs their road trains Wed/Fri, the mornings after CSX delivers, thus if not expedited those tank cars were sitting the whole weekend and another weekday till the local crew gets back out there. The result was an unhappy Falls Road, and unhappy recipient. Supposedly the cars go down to a Pepsi bottling/canning plant in New Jersey, whereby the tank cars carry the carbonation factor for my father's favorite brand of pop. Initially they were making L035 take the extra trip on Fridays, either before or after their normally scheduled customer work in the Tonawandas depending on the workload. But some weeks the crews would simply spend all their time switching the customers till it was too late to run to Lockport, resulting in angry trainmasters and shortlines alike. At the same time in 2023, L035 was also on duty at 1800, an hour I considered to be late at the time till I shot L355 this summer. Talk about putting things in perspective. I wasn't the only one who thought that was late though, as crews regularly marked off of the job, leaving spots vacant and laying the job in quite a lot of nights that year. The most common day L035 didn't run? Fridays. And so the Saturday extra started gaining traction as a regular move, not just for Lockport but to switch the customers neglected from the weekday absences also. On a handful of occasions, the Buffalo to Niagara transfer L032 even made the jaunt light power out to Lockport on Friday or Saturday evenings if they couldn't find a crew for L/U035. That stopped when the trainmasters refused to pay out the penalty days for L032 since Lockport isn't part of the job's territory.
By summer of 2024, the Tropicana traffic had started populating the area, which gave even more reason to keep the U035s they were already running to make up for other missed work. In the middle of the summer, the trainmasters finally conceded and let L035 go back to its original 1600 start time, no longer needing U035s to switch customers with crews actually wanting to work L035 again. Now that the Tropicana traffic was on the rise though, there were two points of hot traffic to pull out of Lockport: loaded CO² tank cars, and empty Tropicana reefers. I originally thought it was the inbound loads which dictated the extra schedule, but in reality it's actually more important that the empties get moving back to Florida quickly so they can be re-loaded. And so U035 has been kept on the docket as the easiest means of getting those hot cars where they need to go.
WNY saw a lot of snow this past winter. More consistent than any of the previous years. 2022 was the last big year for snowfall, both early in the year and during the Thanksgiving and Christmas storms later on. Given the recent yearly trends this upcoming winter might not deliver what we're used to. But then again it's Buffalo, so you never really know. While all the crossings had been cleared by the eastbound trip out to Lockport a few hours before, I just happened to choose Comstock Rd as my first shot chasing back west. The bitterly cold wind gusts which were in abundance that day had pushed a lot more snow back into the tracks. I had to high-step my way through it all into the field adjacent to the line, and quickly as my dudes Nick the Dick and Caged Lion were closing in on my location. (Niagara is a yard for colorful nicknames.) I planted my feet in the knee deep snowbank and braced for any errant flakes which might scatter in my direction. After struggling to find snowburst shot opportunities like this the last few years, 2025 delivered quite a few for me to rake in with ease, notwithstanding the otherwise bone-chilling temps. Ironically, the 2008 in this photo is still leading the northtowns locals all these months later. Those dash three varieties are good for 180 days at a time. Normally the crews can't stand them, but this one runs well and most importantly is without an inward facing camera. When you know you crews and the crews know you, there's shenanigans to be had.
Illegal dumping is the disposal of more than small amounts of waste or litter on land or in water without the correct approvals (an environment protection licence or planning approvals). Illegal dumping can include placing unwanted household items on the footpath when there is no council collection, dumping rubbish or green waste in the bush or on the side of a road, businesses or contractors who are paid to correctly dispose of commercial waste but instead dump it on land without proper approvals, and dumping asbestos waste.
Illegal dumping can harm human health, contaminate the environment and soil, and poison plants and animals, smother native vegetation, introduce weeds into sensitive bushland, pollute waterways, degrade culturally sensitive environments, make public places dangerous to use, create a fire risk and endanger people’s lives by blocking emergency access, degrade land value, cost millions of dollars in taxpayer money each year to clean up, and undermine legitimate businesses.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published state-wide research on what motivates businesses and the community to illegally dump and how to change that behaviour. The research was conducted with government, industry and community stakeholders and provides a state-wide benchmark for monitoring changes in knowledge, attitudes and behaviours.
EPA research shows that most people know illegal dumping is wrong. However, most people don't think they will get caught. Strategies to prevent illegal dumping therefore focus on making it difficult for dumpers to dump and encouraging people to report illegal activities.
You can help prevent illegal dumping taking your waste to the right place, report illegally dumped waste, when someone disposes of waste on your behalf get proof of disposal, for example get tip dockets from your contractor, know what is being brought onto your land, free fill is rarely clean fill.

"Barrett-Jackson delivered many magical experiences for everyone who joined us in Scottsdale," said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. "From the excitement of the auction block to the thrill rides, exhibits, STEM Fest and live music, there was truly something that everyone in the family could enjoy. We filled our docket with so much diversity that collectors from every walk of life found something they loved. We stay on top of the trends and consign the vehicles that people want, proving once again that the car collector hobby is thriving. Those trends include the growing popularity of Resto-Mods, SUVs and trucks, which are gaining momentum because they appeal to such a broad cross section of people. I’m especially proud of our support for important charities again this year. We not only raised millions of dollars but also critical awareness that will help make a positive impact on so many communities."
www.classic-car-auctions.info/usa/scottsdale/2025-barrett...
In 2025, Barrett-Jackson earned $198 million by selling 2013 car lots and $5.2 million from 957 pieces of automobilia. A further $6.2 million was raised for charity.
The first production 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 VIN001 achieved $3.7 million as a charity lot and the highest result at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2025 collector car auction in Arizona, USA. The most expensive regular lots were a 2023 Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster ($2,200,000) and a 2014 Pagani Huayra ($1,925,000). DJ Marshmello’s 2020 Ford GT Liquid Carbon Special Edition achieved a strong $1,780,000.
The top four results at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2025 collector car auction were all for modern supercars. The top result was for charity (see below) while the most expensive regular car in the sale was for the nearly new 2023 Hennessy Venom F5 Roadster. This F5 Roadster was the second of only 30 produced and was sold with only 681 miles on the clock.

As part of Railfan Day, Mass Coastal operated special trains between Bourne and Hyannis with MC 2011 and 2026 on the south end of the train. The two FL9s, former New Haven units, were never coupled together for passenger service since their arrival on Cape Cod in 2018 until this day. Here, the train is seen in Sandwich headed northbound to Bourne with the FL9s on the rear. 2011 was repainted last year, and 2026 is on the docket to be repainted as well. Mass Coastal recently acquired a third FL9, No. 2027, which is expected to be painted in Mass Coastal colors.
A court is in session, a verdict is in
No appeal on the docket today
Just my own sin
The walls are cold and pale
The cage made of steel
Screams fill the room
Alone I drop and kneel
Silence now the sound
My breath the only motion around
Demons cluttering around
My face showing no emotion
Shackled by my sentence
Expecting no return
Here there is no penance
My skin begins to burn
I hear a thunder in the distance
See a vision of a cross
I feel the pain that was given
On that sad day of loss
A lion roars in the darkness
Only he holds the key
A light to free me from my burden
And grant me life eternally
I cry out to God
Seeking only his decision
Gabriel stands and confirms
I've created my own prison
I cry out to God
Seeking only his decision
Gabriel stands and confirms
I've created my own prison
(And I said oh) So I held my head up high
Hiding hate that burns inside
Which only fuels their selfish pride
(And I said oh) We're all held captive
Out from the sun
A sun that shines on only some
We the meek are all in one
Should've been dead on a Sunday morning
banging my head
No time for mourning
Ain't got no time
The chalk shade I'm using is shown in the lower right corner. It's by far the closest to her day-glo hair... to do better I would have to use an airbrush paint (which is on the docket for my break... so not available yet!)
With crisp clear and cold weather (my favorite!) in the offing and with no after work commitments I decided to see what Providence and Worcester's Rhody based local PR-3 had on their docket for the day
They spent a good bit of their morning switching in the compact Valley Falls yard before heading down the main destined for Cranston with one load for Spaulding Brick and a big cut of scrap for the Port of Providence. Here they are working the south end of the little yard as they switch back and forth across High Street here at MP 6. EMD GP38-2 2006 was built new for the then only 7 yr newly independent road in Feb. 1980 and has remained employed on these very rails ever since.
Rhode Island remains a bastion for these classic unrepainted geeps, and I highly recommend you spend a day or two out with them before they too disappear or get dipped in Genesee and Wyoming orange.

Another interesting frame from this location during my slow speed chase ofPan Am train NMWA-13 across District One.
The propane tank that once provided fuel to power the switch heaters and the signal bungalow still falsely proclaiming CPF80 have been left in place, abandoned with no purpose.
Consequently the siding was removed by Guilford years ago, but this hung on as a control point in the woods designated CPF80 until Pan Am finally discontinued the signal and traffic control system as approved on June 15, 2016 per Docket number FRA-2015-0073.

It's a bit hard to find information on the different body styles Ford produced for the T. Pickup bodies weren't made until much later in the T's lifespan as far as I know, so consider this an independently made coach build.
I know a couple people have suggested I build a military platform T, and while that is on the docket, I'd love some other suggestions as well. I'm thinking of a possible TT fire engine, but I'm not very informed on them, so if anyone has some resources, I'd appreciate it if you'd send them my way.

The car was completely disassembled to bare metal and rebuilt to resemble a 1960s-era race car, though it has not been raced. The street-legal car was shown once and was awarded Best in Class.
