Slains Castle is said to be the inspiration for Dracula's Castle in Bram Stoker's novel. Bram Stoker used to holiday at nearby Cruden Bay and went for walks to the castle.

The castle was a home to the Earls of Errol (who were the chiefs of the Clan Hay) until the 1920s when the roof was removed to avoid paying tax.

A Buddhist temple in the city of Ayutthaya Historical Park, Thailand, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, outside of Ayutthaya island.

Built in 1630 by the king Prasat Thong as the first temple of his reign, it is one of Ayutthaya's best known temples and a major tourist attraction.

To mark the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II the original light at Kinnaird Head was switched on. The lens is a hyper-radial lens manufactured by Chance Brothers in 1902.

Construction of this impressive building lasted from 1881 to 1886. The story goes that the tower was deliberately made higher than that of Glasgow City Chambers to try and outdo their larger city neighbours.

The building was bombed by the Luftwaffe in 1941 and a corner of the building is missing as a result.
