It's amazing how amazingly different the world looks when covered in morning fog, especially during sunrise, with the sun drawing long shadows of the trees. It gives a beautiful, natural depth effect, like an additional extension of the third dimension.

The name Kerlingarfjöll translates to "Old Woman Mountains" in English, referring to the distinct shape of the peaks. The range is made up of several volcanic cones and domes, with the highest peak reaching over 1,477 meters (4,846 feet) in elevation.
One of the main attractions of Kerlingarfjöll is its geothermal area, which features hot springs, fumaroles, and colorful mineral deposits. The geothermal activity creates a surreal and otherworldly atmosphere, with steam rising from the ground and vibrant hues of red, yellow, and green contrasting against the barren landscape.
There are various hiking trails leading through the mountains and valleys. The trails offer options for both experienced hikers and beginners. Along the way, hikers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, glaciers, and rivers.

After a stormy wet night, the early morning light combined with some ground haze to produce some wonderful photographic conditions. At 400 feet looking straight down, the bird was above the patchy fog, which added a unique element to the view.
Since this was a straight down, 90 degrees shooting angle, there is no real top, bottom, left, or right. So for those viewing on a mobile device, it is presented as a vertical panorama. For those viewing on a traditional landscape view computer screen, it is presented in that format as well. There's a tremendous amount of detail if you zoom in.
Enjoy...

Port Mahon, the graveyard of a long forgotten oyster industry. All that remains are pilings in decay, rocks, and the rapidly disappearing skeleton of the last remaining workboat, seen in the lower left corner of the aerial image. The same boat was in much better shape two years ago www.flickr.com/photos/stevebfotos/50860303582/in/photolis... . Nature is very quick to eradicate human structures when not maintained. This area is great for solitude, wildlife photography, aerial photography, scenics, etc. Because it is remote and isolated, these same qualities make it attractive for nefarious activities as well, so be careful with valuables and you may wish to visit here with a buddy. It is a very narrow beach / road and quite low, hence a high tide can cut off your egress if you aren't careful. One final caution for drone pilots is that the first half or more of the shore line falls within the restricted zone for Dover Air Force Base and all that goes with it. Only the extreme northern point is outside this zone, but you are close and you can easily find yourself drifting into restricted space, so be careful.

Carefully threading a narrow path between sheer canyon walls and the surging rapids of the Thompson River, Canadian Pacific GE AC4400CWM 8020 guides a westbound CPKC grain train through the Skoona Tunnels on CN’s Ashcroft Subdivision near Spences Bridge, British Columbia. If the sight of a CPKC train on CN trackage seems unusual, it’s actually a routine result thanks to a directional running zone (DRZ) established through this rugged corridor. Similar to the arrangement between Parry Sound and Sudbury in Northern Ontario, here, in British Columbia's rugged interior, westbound traffic utilizes CN's Ashcroft Subdivision, while eastbound trains take CPKC’s Thompson Subdivision on the opposite bank of the river.
Autumn mornings have something special about them. It's both difficult to wake up early, and easy - because you want to see the morning fog and long shadows dropped by trees in it.
I guess some of you can share my feelings?
On the right (the right shore) there is The Opatowicka Island, while on the left is The Strachociński Forest.

Dunlewey, Gweedore, County Donegal, Ireland
The 'Church of the Sacred Heart’ is one of Donegal’s, if not Ireland’s most perfectly situated buildings. It was built in 1877 on top of this small hill on the shore of ‘Dunlewey Lough’. Nestled so close to the foot of 'Mount Errigal' that it could almost hide in its shadow. It commands views over the ‘The Poisoned Glen & Crockfadda mountains’ as seen in the distant right.
Because of its name The Sacred Heart & its proximity to Errigal Mountain, I often refer to this stunning church as “Errigal’s Heart” 💚 In my mind this makes perfect sense.....

Photo of Szczytna Mountain in Lower Silesia, Poland. It's not high, roughly 466 meters ASL, but in the afternoon sun it looks gorgeous.
The mountain was ~9km (~5,5miles) away from the drone.
The photo is a merge from 5 side-by-side shots.

From the left: the tall building is the Sky Tower skyscraper. More to the right, the large, brown building is an old Post Office building. Just in front of it is Społeczny Square (with the large overpass). To the bottom right there is the Grunwaldzki Bridge, and the big building next to it is the Provincial Office of Lower Silesia. To the right there is the Peace Bridge, and above it you can see the islands of Ostrów Tumski.

Near Leavenworth, WA. This pedestrian bridge was built over the bottom half of a pipeline that crosses the Wenatchee River. Pano shot with a DJI Mavic 3 drone.

Rosguill Peninsula, Melmore, Downings, County Donegal, Ireland
Three of my favourite beaches are captured on this colourful sunset image. Firstly, you can see the stunning Boyeeghter Bay or as most know it as “The Murder Hole Beach” in the foreground. Behind the shadowing hill of Gortnalughoge can be seen Tra na Rossan Beach and if your eyes are sharp then you may just see Tramore Beach in the extreme distance on Sheephaven Bay with Muckish Mountain, Horn Head & Tory Island to the right. Harry Blaney Bridge & Carrigart on Mulroy Bay can be seen to the upper left & Fanad Peninsula to the left.
This panoramic photo clearly shows the very reason I love Ireland so much! There aren’t many other places that I’ve visited in the world that has so many pristine beauty spots all at such close proximity from each other. Especially in this area of north Donegal, as you can visit a beach then travel a few minutes to arrive at an even prettier beach, castle, mountain etc.
I can proudly say that the slogan “Ireland has it all” could not be any truer in my humble opinion

The autumn is showing more and more signs of its' presence. The temperatures are lower, the sun rises later every day. The temperature fluctuations cause morning fogs to appear - and that's what I got a chance to see for the first time in my life - morning autumn fogs from the height. The views are... amazing. Mesmerising.

A recent, perfect fall afternoon on the Tualatin River near our home. This is a a panorama shot with my DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone.
Early morning sun shines brightly on the Delaware Breakwater East End Light. My grandfather was a lighthouse keeper in 1915 and was assigned to the Harbor of Refuge Light, but also worked some at the Breakwater light. The Harbor of Refuge Light (HRL), at the time he was working there in 1915, was not the one that stands today. He worked in the predecessor, which was under-built for the task. In 1918, the HRL shifted on its foundation during a storm. In 1919, my grandfather had moved over the the U.S. Coast Guard at the Lewes station. I think it was a good move! So these lighthouses are special to me and I wanted to catch a view both of it and from it at the height of the lens, so clearly a job for the drone. 2023 Aug 17 DJI Mavic 3 Cine 4K Video 60 fps / ISO 100 1/120 sec at f4.0. Got to love that 4K video, as you get huge, tack-sharp stills from it if you want. This is one frame extracted from the video.
For those with a sharp eye, zoom in a bit and look at he osprey nest atop the little building on the rock jetty. There's an osprey sitting in the nest and I'd venture it is its mate that is perched on the railing of the lighthouse.
The North Bridge of the Sixth Street Viaduct stands over the Milwaukee Intermodal Station. The bridge was completed in 2002 and along with the nearly identical South Bridge, were the first two cable-stayed bridges in Wisconsin build for vehicular traffic.
I took a similar image back in October, when the river was bathed in autumn fogs. In the winter it looks also beautiful, with the sun just above the horizon. The water is partially frozen - on the left the river branch is completly frozen, because the sluice for transit is currently closed.

Eigerøy Lighthouse (Norwegian: Eigerøy fyr) is a coastal lighthouse located at the small island of Midbrødøya which is located immediately west of the island of Eigerøya in Eigersund municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It was established in 1854 and automated in 1989.
This was Norway's first cast iron lighthouse, and its success encouraged the building of many more on the Norwegian coastline. The light sits at an elevation of 46.5 metres (153 ft) above sea level, sitting atop a 32.9-metre (108 ft) tall tower. The light emits three white flashes every 30 seconds. The light uses a 1st order Fresnel lens and produces a 3,905,000-candela light. The light can be seen from all directions for up to 18.8 nautical miles (34.8 km; 21.6 mi).
The tower is attached to a 2-story service building. The lighthouse is painted red with one white horizontal band. The lighthouse was automated in 1989 and it remains under the control of the Kystverket. There are a limited number of tours available. It is accessible by road and the tower is open for touring on Sundays in July.
It was a very nice and warm evening. I flew my drone over Strachociński Forest - a forest located quite close to Wrocław city. A great place for biking.
