This is apparently an ongoing DIY project alongside a fjord near Arngerðareyri, Rauoamyrl. Not the typical architecture one would stumble upon in Northwest Iceland or anywhere in Iceland for that matter :)
This is apparently an ongoing DIY project alongside a fjord near Arngerðareyri, Rauoamyrl. As we learned it is also called kastelli (the castle). Not the typical architecture one would stumble upon in Northwest Iceland or anywhere in Iceland for that matter :)
The first step in repairing a fallen fence is disassembling what's left of it.

Washers, cotter pins, and axle grease: Janie and Triv spent Talk Like a Pirate Day assembling a wheelb-arrrr-ow.
And yes, that's gen-yoo-wine gooey sticky axle grease and gen-yoo-wine semi-expensive fashion dolls, because Smart Dolls rock so that's how they roll.

This project was more time consuming than I imagined ... lots of remakes in the process.
Now the hardest part is creating an acceptable image ... !!!!

Trivia and Jane replace a thermostat on a hot water heater.
Of course, as it turns out, the problem is not with the thermostat, but with the actual electrical breaker switch in the main electrical box.
None of the Troubleshooting Guides I looked at suggested Main Breaker Panel Failure as a likely culprit in a water heater not working.
The question now is: is the issue with the breaker itself, which looks worn and water damaged, or with the entire electrical panel, which looks worn and water damaged?

This has been a 2 1/2 months project. Now it's finally complete and ready to hit the road!! So are we!
We've had this RV for 2 years, and this was something I always wanted to do.
The entire RV was all the standard dark brown laminate cabinets and drawers before the re-paint.
It was dull, boring. and had no vacation feel to it.
"And there we go – all fixed! Ya just gotta use the right 'magic words!'"
There's almost nothin' that the right words and a big enough hammer won't take care of!

Well, not so much building a new platform rather than shoring up an old one.

I used discarded packing material salvaged from the rubbish and recycle bins and a dash or three of spray paint to create adequate-for-my-purposes backgrounds for miniature action figure photography.
The highly technical lighting set-up utilizes a seven dollar desk lamp and a four dollar flashlight.

The soda bottle rocketship is not quite finished, but I could not resist attempting a "composite test" using a background image I "borrowed" from an Internet search.
Once the rocket is finished, I should probably work on creating a series of background images I can use, both to avoid copyright infringements, and to better match the "kinda fake" vintage science fiction style I'm trying to emulate.
The images were composited using Plasq Comic Life software.
Sorry... app. Nobody says "software" anymore, do they? They're apps!
This yard nook used to be a muddy shaded corner that accumulated yard waste, old tires and garden clutter until it was repurposed to be more user friendly with stone seating, rock garden, flower bed and utility storage

Inside view of the project I've been helping with. Three of us have built this entire thing starting from bare dirt. Mostly two of us.

Moved the re-purposed piano which is now a whiskey/wine rack to the living room next to my favorite chair. I made this piano rack as a Christmas present for my wife a few years ago. It was her piano (sound board warped) so rather than get rid of it I re-purposed it.

one of several DIYprojects Larry and I tackled this summer.
At some point I guess the room we're using as a livingroom in our apt. over the rental must have been a bedroom, with a closet in the corner.
Now that it's our livingroom, the couch is on the only wall it works on, with the closet at one end..
As a closet, it's useless.
We really didn't need it for storage space.
What I DID need was an end table at that end of the couch.
I studied the situation.
We could have knocked the wall out and taken the closet out entirely, which would have opened up the corner, and then I'd have been able to jam a small side table in there, but I'd still have to leave the wicker chair (or any chair) on the other wall.
So we decided to take the doors off the closet and turn it into a "built in".
The shelf on the bottom is low enough to serve as an end table, so I can have lighting at that end, and a place to set a glass.
We finished it off with some faux wood wallpaper on the back wall and added an extra
shelf for books and knick knacks.
It turned out pretty good and it serves it's purpose.

Loving these Really Right Stuff B2-FABN Mini-Clamps and BlackRapid FastenR Hitches. The RRS Mini-Clamps are rock solid and a great addition to my DIY dual camera strap setup. The green braided cord in the background is some of my handy work and made of Spectra Cord. This is short braided cord has small S-style carabiner connected to the end of it and serves as a backup just incase the main clip decides to accidentally release on me. The Mini-Clamps attach to either of my L-Brackets or my RRS Lens Plate on the 70-200L.
To my surprise, I was able to accurately diagnose a problem with a gas appliance, procure the proper part, and repair said appliance!
The issue was a faulty heat sensor called a thermocouple.
A little DIY project I was working on over part of the weekend. Stopped in at the local farm / ranch supply store in Missoula and grabbed a couple of leather belts, some horse tack pieces and parts, and in just a few minutes I made this bad boy. I had to order a couple of Blackrapid fasteners to screw into my Promediagear L-Brackets for both the 1DX & the 5DMKIII from B&H Photo, and most likely I will order a couple of Really Right Stuff B2-FABN screw-knob clamps to attach to the L-brackets. Looking forward to testing it out on a couple portrait sessions before the first wedding of the season.

Janie: "If we get this part sealed up properly, we shouldn't have any more leaks."
Triv: "Which means we shouldn't have any more wet, rotten floors, right?"
Janie: "Exactly! And we will never, ever have to do this stupid project again!"
Triv: "You said this project. Like, this particular project."
Janie: "Well... if you insist on being all precise and stuff... yeah."
Triv: "... sigh ..."
