a couple of weeks ago at work we were talking about holograms when we found a link with instructions to construct a hologram pyramid for the iphone. we ended up spending well over an hour hacking apart a cd jewel case and taping it back together with strips of duct tape. the result was surprisingly cool, albeit in a very fragile, homemadey kinda way and it inspired me to part with £5 and buy a pre-made pyramid from ebay. this is that with my phone balanced face down projecting an image of a salvador dali sculpture i photographed three years ago. it's actually projecting 4 images, which are then split and projected onto each side of the pyramid. the effect certainly works better when you have moving 3 dimensional images projected from the phone, but as you're viewing this is a 2 dimensional photo i figure it's the same difference from here.

71-year-old Cindy lost the full use of her limbs following complications from a severe heart attack. While waiting for her new robotic prosthetic, Cindy improvised 'object hacks' to help her with everyday tasks that she now found impossible. These adaptations to the most commonly used objects in her home allowed her to hold cutlery, play cards, brush her teeth, read the newspaper and much more.
Design educators Sara Hendren and Caitrin Lynch documented Cindy's hacks 'to illustrate new ways of understanding who can engineer, what counts as engineering, and this matters'. The project reminds us that the best innovations are not necessarily high-tech, and that technologies are valuable for their social function or ability to empower us, not just for their precision or sleek appearance.

A lot of people love and enjoy cooking. Others do not, but those who truly do, are obsessed with everything cooking related. Including hacks and cheat sheets.
And speaking of which, I would love to share my newfound ideas with you all.

Sometimes it is necessary to secure loads in the basket in order to ensure that your load (in this case a chocolate cake) arrives home in a reasonable condition despite cycling over Edinburgh's potholes and cobbled streets. I wrapped my Kryptoflex cable around the basket, looping it through itself then used the velcro designed to store it neatly to secure it to itself. It worked wonderfully.
Such a stellar weekend. Feeling incredibly inspired, once again. Only
90 some-odd until the Burn and there's so much creating to be done.
Stay tuned for a bunch more photos to come. Until then, Mad Love to
Farilla & Ops...the best travel partners evah! And to the MANY
members of my family who popped in to our completely geeked out world
to check things out and say hello.
