Coronach, Saskatchewan, Canada

In 1987 The Coronach & district museum was established when the town of Coronach and the RM of Hart Butte #11 purchased a large collection of pieces from a local estate. In 1997 the museum moved into the original hospital. The museum is kept up by a group of volunteers and has been displayed in a way that honours the pioneers of the area since the early 1900’s. Each original hospital room has been set up as a themed room, including a hospital room, school, communications, store, parlour, library, town office, bedroom, kitchen, toy room, church, sewing & textiles and bathroom

i forgot what the giant silly flower was doing there.

I think this was coming down from the top of Winnats Pass as we headed for Mam Tor. :-)

Yesterday The English Lake Disrict was awarded Unesco heritage status on account of its natural beauty. By coincidence I took a hike amongst it's hills today.

This panorama was taken from the summit of Red Pike and looks down over Crummockwater. Mark adds the human content and scale. By this time we had been out on the hills a good seven hours so we're looking forward to our beer and food at the Fish Inn in Buttermere.

All the land in England higher than 3,000 feet (914 m) above sea level lies within the National Park, including Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. It also contains the deepest and largest natural lakes in England Wast Water and Windermere respectively.

I'm thrilled to have my image taken on Grindslow Knoll commended in Landscape Photographer of the Year 2015.

The photograph will be included in Collection 9 of the awards book available this month and will be part of a digital exhibition at Waterloo.

Congratulations to all who won an award.

I last had an image commended in 2012. It's great to have success in this competition again.

Peak District

We did plan to set the alarm for 3am to get to this location before sunrise but the weather forecast wasn't good. So in the end we settled for a late afternoon walk before the rain set in.

A nice evening at another one of the Peak District's barns.

The harbour district is quickly developing a life of its own.

Soon most of the buildings have been completed and many people moved in.

The first shops and restaurants are already open now for quite a while.

Two bridges have been built, giving me a new camera spot.

The Needles

Canyonlands National Park

Utah

September 2023

The Needles is Canyonlands National Park’s most colorful, hike-friendly district, named for spired Cedar Mesa sandstone. Slickrock trails weave past arches, grassy parks, and ancient rock art into quiet backcountry shaped by the uplift and erosion of the Colorado Plateau

Deep in the Tunnel District of Union Pacific's Moffat Tunnel Subdivision, the westbound Rocky Mountaineer is between Tunnels 16 and 17 between Plain and Crescent sidings at mile 29. The train is en route from Denver to Moab, Utah, with an overnight stay in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Photo by Joe McMillan, July 20, 2022, 11:19 a.m. The train is running a bit late because of MofW activities near Tunnel 16. RMRX engines 8020-8021 power the 10-car train.
