- With Carozzeria Pininfarina S.p.A.’s help the large body of the 403 Berline was created, presented on April 20, 1955 at the Palais de Chaillot (Trocadéro Palace) in Paris.
- Remarkable for that time was the thermostatically controlled fan, which stopped when the engine temperature came below 75 degrees and started as soon as the temperature rose to above 84 degrees.
- Another novelty was a heating system for the carburetor, responsive to switching on the heater in the car.
- The Peugeot 403 was the first French car with a diesel engine in mass production.
- The 403 Series was available as this 4-door Berline, as 403 B7 (Sept) Berline or "Berline Luxe" (1960-1966: 1290cc TM5 engine, 47bhp, 172,513 units built), as 2-door Cabriolet (1957-1961: 2,043 units built), as 5-door Familiale (1956-1962: 34,928 units built), as 3-door Fourgonnette Tôlée (1956-1962: 6,892 units built), as 3-door Commerciale (1956-1962: 112,601 units built), as 3-door Plateau-Cabine (1956-1961: 27,066 units built), as 2-door 403 U B8 Camionnettes Bâchée (1956-1962: 155,709 units built) and as Ambulance (826 units built).

CYXX 2109 is a former Pennsylvania Railroad GP30. Unused on the weekends, they normally operate 6am-2pm M-F. Conrad Yelvington is largest distributor of aggregate in the state of Florida. Each year they move more than 5 million tons through a network of rail served terminals.
CYXX 2104, a GP30, is one of two switchers present at the Conrad Yelvington Distributors in Jacksonville, FL. The other switcher, carrying the same paint scheme, is an Alco RS1 rebuild of some sort which they don't seem to use quiet often. As usual, I did a little trip through the woods and some shrubs to find a spot to catch these guys switching. I found this spot and caught CYXX 2104 push a string of hoppers that had just been unloaded onto a different track. In the background you can see some of Downtown Jacksonville.

- The name Caprice was chosen by Bob Lund in 1965 (first generation), the General Sales Manager, after a New York City restaurant and began as the top-of-the-line full-size Chevrolet.
- It was awarded Motor Trend's Car of the Year in 1977 and again in 1991.
- This third generation “boxy design” ’77 model had a new front grille with a fine mesh pattern, a stand-up hood ornament, a heater, a defroster, carpeting, a cigarette lighter, hide-away windshield wipers, wraparound marker lamps and small parking lamps inset in the bumper.
- The 1977 Caprice Classic Series was available as this Estate, as Sedan (212,840 units built), as Coupé (62,366 units built) and Landau Coupé (9,607 units built).

Special:
- Designed by Flaminio Bertoni as the TPV (Toute Petite Voiture) what later became the 2CV.
- Only one colour was initially offered when the car came on the scene in 1948, it was grey. A second colour was offered since 1959: blue.
- The engine did not even include a distributor; instead, there was a coil that fired the spark plugs, it had a four-speed manual gearbox and it was "fed" by a Solex carburetor.
- There was one spring on each side of the car which made up the vehicles suspension and drum brakes all-around.
- The eccentric car offered innovations such as a built-in jacking system and the flexibility of movable seating surfaces.
- The ability to remove the seats and panels created extra room for larger objects, while the canvas roof extends to the bumper.
- The cenrtifugaal clutch is designed for city use. You can drive off in 1st or 2nd gear. The AZ is now driving like an automatic.
- The AZ has two horns: one for city use and a louder horn for outside the city.
To me, at least, one of the most frequently seen ships on the River Thames: my first experience of it (as shown on Flickr...) is 2003, when it was orange; later in part orange, part royal blue, now as here, which is quite sleek and very dashing.

I took a couple this afternoon after getting off work and figured I'd share them straight away due to the juxtaposition with yesterdays post. On my way through Gilbert I happened upon some well lit Hamms signage and pulled off the road for a quickie. 5 degrees below zero.
