"Another glorious Sierra day in which one seems to be dissolved and absorbed and sent pulsing onward we know not where. Life seems neither long nor short, and we take no more heed to save time or make haste than do the trees and stars. This is true freedom, a good practical sort of immortality." — from John of the Mountains (1938)
Here's yet another 10 image panorama taken at sunrise in the Owen Valley. :)

Because the rock consists of limestone (which is slowly dissolved by rainwater) more than 100 caves have formed in the rock. The most famous cave is St. Michael's Cave. The largest chamber in the cave, the Cathedral Cave, was long thought to be so large that it extended all the way to Africa. The Cathedral Cave is now regularly used for concerts and other events.
Archaeological research in Gorham's Cave and other caves has shown that the caves were inhabited by Neanderthals. More than 100 artifacts have been found in Gorham's Cave, dated between 24,000 and 28,000 years old. Plant and animal remains in the caves have shown that the Neanderthals had a varied diet.

Apologies for the title, I was playing with a Haiku
generator, seeing if a nice set of words might describe this pic ;p With the usual prompting, it offered something like this:
Meandering thoughts
A natural order sung
in spite of the thought
Maybe this is a reason why we might like to have more AI's
in our lives; Its wonderful to be able to blame someone else for our silliness ;p

” Where have the shadows gone. Maybe dissolved when daylight left. They come and go in light of day. They love to play their crazy games. Shadows of dames. All in relation to time. Strange creatures. They are just shadows. Turn off the light. They vanish. Turn on the light. They’re back. Their own position changes. In a perfect stance. By light enhanced. We are the free spirits in dark shadows. “
Rest hope you all enjoy amsy work as always ^^

"Roll cloud" is a low, elongated cloud, which is part of the numerous types of accessory clouds of a storm front (Fractocumulus genus), which signals the "gust line", or the change of wind just before the arrival of precipitation, along the virtual lines of air convergence and thermal discontinuity.
On the sea, as on the plains, the Roll cloud, formed by colder and denser air than the one it finds, literally rolls (and rolls up) at low altitude, skimming the ground, which unlike other frontal clouds, can sometimes move away from the storm that generated it for many tens of kilometers, thus resulting, in such cases, a harmless windy residue, but, as in this case, in the interaction with a more marked orography it tends to become irregular and therefore to dissolve.
The Roll cloud in the photo was formed on the sea by condensing the cooler air descended, through rain and hail, from the considerable T-storm that brought the water of the whole month in less than 3 hours on all the areas facing the Gulf of Trieste.
----.
I had come too soon to the small square which I found deserted; while I was looking at the beautiful landscape, I saw a man coming from a path pulling a donkey loaded with an enormous burden by the halter.
Arriving right next to me, he stopped and began to unfasten the edges of the cloth that covered the load and then, with a quick gesture, he removed it and, to my surprise, at the same time a cloud of steam was released from the rump which immediately dissolved; it was the sweat of the poor beast.
Carefully spreading the sheet on the ground, he began to arrange the pieces of the load; they were artfully crafted clay products.
I immediately liked the pitcher characteristic of the place for the harmony of the workmanship and the beauty of the designs that adorned it and I bought it as a souvenir of the beautiful holiday in the Principality.

Anglesey Abbey near Cambridge. Probably started as a hospital. An Augustinian priory in the 13th Century. Dissolved by Henry VIII in 1536. The present house mainly dates to the 1600s and has passed through many owners the last was Lord Fairhaven who lived here until 1966.
For few last days all the clouds were dissolving into nothing by the time of sunset. This evening it looked a bit more promising, so I decided to give it a go. This image of the setting sun over Bristol was taken from a small path off the Cotswold way, a 102-mile long National trail going through Bath and surrounding area. This route is popular with walkers and tourists and in addition too spectacular views overlooking the river Severn estuary and Bristol it also has a section that runs along the place where the battle of Lansdowne was fought in 1643 between Royalists and Parliamentarians during the First English Civil War en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Lansdowne. This historical part of the route is well marked with battlefield markers at the top of Lansdown Hill, and include Sir Grenville’s Monument (www.flickr.com/photos/sergeysmirnov/50149930463/). Are you dissolving apart from one another until your on your own, or are you coming together to make one, sometimes in life we all have to go off on our own but other times we need one another, but still life takes it’s toll 9/15/20

At the college of Christ Church, Oxford university. It was founded in 1546 by Henry VIII, on the grounds of the priory of St Frideswide (which had been dissolved in the 1520s and where cardinal Wolsey had tried to establish the Cardinal college - which all came to nothing when he fell from royal grace. The church of the priory has actually survived and is now the Christ Church Cathedral!). The name of the college in Latin is Ædes Christi, and the full name in English of the college is: 'The Dean, Chapter and Students of the Cathedral Church of Christ in Oxford of the Foundation of King Henry the Eighth'. It is the second wealthiest college in Oxford.
The college is featured in Brideshead revisited by Evelyn Waugh, and parts of the Harry Potter-movies were filmed here.

All of this sci-fi and cyberpunk stuff is giving me enough colour to be happy for the next year. That said, I'm still going to keep buying way too much stuff.
Hi, I'm Alexandra, and I have no concept of self-control.
Aside from all the great stuff you can still snag at FGC, there's some lovely stuff out and coming up from Zibska! This pretty headdress, the Dalena set, can be found over at 4Mesh right now! There's also going to be a few makeup sets coming up to Candy Fair on the 17th, including the one I'm wearing, my personal favourite, the Liquorizia set! There's also going to be a few free gifts you can snag, too!

A view of the west side of the 200 block of S. Sixth St. from Adams St. in downtown Springfield. All of the buildings in this view lie within the Central Springfield Historic District.
Centered on the Old State Capitol, which served as the Illinois state house from 1840 to 1876, this area includes an outstanding number of two and three story late 19th and early 20th century commercial structures, intact for most part on the upper facades. These buildings included hotels, drug stores, groceries, clothing stores, and dry good stores. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, and was expanded in 1986 and 2015.
The Greek Revival style building on the immediate right was built by Seth M. Ainsley in 1840-41 for commercial use, and is the site of the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices. During his nearly 25-year law career, Abraham Lincoln used office space in several Springfield locations, but this now historic site is the only building which still stands.
During Lincoln's time the federal government rented the first floor for a post office and the second floor for a district courtroom, judge's chamber and clerk's office. In the 1840s the federal district included the entire state of Illinois.
William H. Herndon became Lincoln's junior partner in 1844. While Lincoln and Herndon occupied this building, they prepared cases for the federal courts, the Illinois Supreme Court and the state's Eighth Judicial Circuit, which covered most of east-central Illinois. Lincoln rode the circuit for a total of six months during the year, but Herndon usually stayed in Springfield.
Lincoln and Herndon moved from this location in 1852 to another building on the west side of the square. Their partnership was not officially dissolved until Lincoln's death in 1865. Just before Lincoln left Springfield to become President he told Herndon, "If I live I'm coming back some time, and then we'll go right on practising law as if nothing had ever happened."
