Much to mummy's dissappointment, Sam, Jess and Erin decorated the tree all by themselves - great colours huh!
... with very big ears..!!!!
A coyote in the Mt. Diablo area. Not a common sight from a car, but this is how I got this one (about a quarter mile before the parking area of the Mitchell Canyon trail head.)
I saw another coyote while on my hike. I was just cresting a hill, and saw hiim coming toward me on the trail. I quickly (and quietly) swung my camera up while turning it on, got it front of my face as it adusted to the light and focus, and .... nothing.
He'd dissappeared in the brief second. I lowered my camera dissappointment, walked the hundred or so yards to where he'd been - thinking he'd be lurking in the bushes or something, but no.
I walked a few more yards, then (on a hunch) turned around to see him standing where I'd been when I first saw him. He paused, turned and looked back at me, posed for a quickie photo (see below), then we both went on our respective ways.
It was like he magically dissapeared while I passed, then reappeard as the danger passed.
What creatures ....!!!!
My new 29er. Successor to the old 26" wheeled Mongoose Blackcomb. This one is the Impasse. It performs well with a few key aftermarket goodies on it.
The Mongoose Impasse is a quality dissappointment. Good proof of the advantage of 29" wheels but I've got stuff wearing out left and right at only 1000 miles. DO NOT BUY!
After a long and exhausting hike on fairly steep and rough terrain, with no water, wearing flip flops and pushing bicycles we discover that we are only 1/3 of the way through!
found this nest in progress near the Secret Garden next to the North Harbor bridge on 1/11/16
note...last observed hummer on 1/27 (all was well) then I checked it on 1/30 and saw that it was completely GONE...it's a dissappointment...hopefully she'll try again somewhere , sometime
I'd worked up to trying it - I knew it would be a dissappointment, and it was slightly. Slightly watery eggs had turned the muffins to mush, and the sauce wasn't freshly made, at a guess. Still, quite enjoyable, and probably the only cafe where you have the Art of Noise playing in the background.
The two tour guides that accompanied the two WKAR groups on the trip -- Allison, who was very capable and organized; and Will, who was a dissappointment.
Real Blessings
"Our real blessings often appear to us in the shapes of pains, losses and dissappointments; but let us have patience, and we soon shall see them in their proper figures.” - Joseph Addison
No better description for this year, every day I find myself trying to find small hidden blessings in this turmoil. Hoping to come out on the other side of it all the more better.
Photo of a cute little doodle I saw in an old, handwritten menu at a diner in Utah.
The Blue Paolo Verde tree just at the point it was planted. I can't describe my dissappointment when I first saw this runt. Quite a contrast to my appreciation for the tree you see in the other pics, only 2.5 years later. :-)

T's (aka Madison on flickr) dissappointed that her usual trail was closed for maintenance. We had to hike around the other side of the peak.
There was gossip in Milwaukee that Ryan Braun was having problems with his girlfriend. Well he went on radio to say that his relationship was fine, much to the dissappointment to the women in Milwaukee.
