Macaws are perhaps the most easily recognizable birds in the parrot family. Colorful and entertaining, these birds have been kept as pets for hundreds of years. These birds are characters, each having different personalities, likes, and dislikes. Due to their size, macaws can be challenging to care for, but they are loyal companions who are worth the time commitment. Here are a few fun facts about these playful members of the parrot family. When properly taken care of, some macaw species, such as blue and gold macaws can live for an average of 60 years, and many have been recorded to live for up to 80 years or even more. Those who are interested in adopting a macaw are strongly cautioned to make sure that they are willing to commit enough time to care for their pet. It is not at all uncommon for these birds to outlive their owners, so make the same provisions for their care as you would for any other dependent.

This is an old photo. I am posting it to remind myself that, for all of the things that I dislike about winter, there is something that I absolutely love about it!

There are pink spots on the plastic parts of the instruments, I really dislike them, but this is not digital noise, but a pearlescent coating. I've tried removing them, but the patterns can be damaged.
I don't dislike the cold but when I woke Sunday morning and saw -9, I had some serious doubts about going out. I left all my sleepyheads in their beds as I headed downstairs to find my coffee and work up the courage.
When I arrived here in Quidi Vidi, I remembered why I do these things. I could sit here in the cold for hours just listening to the sounds and watching the morning develop. It was a perfect winters day.
Winter is, by far, my favourite season. I just tend to forget it at 6:30am when I'm snug and cozy in bed! I got to try and remember though because I need more mornings like this!!!
It wasn't a LOT of snow, but it was the third snowfall in as many days. Can't they arrange things better than that?

Another phone picture from a winter field nearby. The tree is right in the middle and the snow line also goes through the middle. I wasn't sure at all about this, but I dislike the thought of cropping it (I did try and didn't like it)
I'm not particularly fond of gold. My images seem to have a mind of their own lately!
This is a combination of 3 DDG results. I liked and disliked elements of each style, so merged them in Topaz with the original image, then did a little finishing off in Photoshop.
What I do love about those winterdays...
- the clear air
- the unique light
- my cozy sweater
- hot chocolate when I am coming home
- to see the joy in pugsleys eyes when we`re outside
What I dislike at the moment:
- that you arent here :(

Ayot St Lawrence old church in Hertfordshire is a picturesque ruin, in the village of the same name, due to the strong dislike of the local squire. Sir Lionel Lyde hated the old building, which was visible from his home, and had it replaced in the late 18th century by a Greek revivalist church on the other side of his manor house. The old church was partly torn down for building materials and was partly ruined for 'romantic effect' in the early 19th century - this process only ending in 1999 when the Ames family donated the graveyard to the Ayot Old Church Preservation Trust. Since then the trust has used English Heritage and Heritage Lottery Fund to conserve the ruins and open the grounds. The old church dates from around 1150AD and was originally a nave and short chancel only. It was remodelled in Early English style in the mid-13th century and a small north aisle was added. A north chapel was added in the early 14th century and the chapel was extended. In turn the former north aisle wall was moved further north and continued the line of the north chapel's wall in the early 15th century. The present tower was finally added over the north aisle about 75 years later, probably in the late 15th or very early 16th century.
There are a few different ways to experience the beautiful national park of Timanfaya in Lanzarote, the one that we’ll remember for a long time is by camel. The Echadero de los Camellos in Parque Nacional de Timanfaya is easy to find by car, it’s on the main road from Yaiza LZ-67 as you approach the visitor attraction.
Very popular with the tourists on Lanzarote, I declined the offer of a ride has the last the camel took a dislike to me and got rid of me.
Fun Shot with two image's with Texture's and effect's by William Walton and Topaz, A bit of Fun and Humour.
Yes, I know, I know! It's sugar-coated and overly syrupy... But this week's theme gave me the hardest time of all themes I've done so far! Everything I tried I disliked and all my ideas seemed to me like a bad reproduction of something wonderful someone else had already posted and I didn't want to do that...
In the end, this was the only photo that felt marginally acceptable to present without loads of processing and perhaps I'll save a shot or two for Valentine's lol
Well... we can't have it all ;D
HMM and happy new week everyone :)))
We all have our preferences for when to use one or the other. Most use the liquid one for a quick handwash and a bar of soap for baths and showers.
I hate it when staying in a hotel not to be given solid soap for my shower and really dislike when the handwash is the only thing available. We generally end up taking our own soaps or hand washes with us!
I generally dislike birding on sunny days. There are extreme highlights and shadows that make taking photos and using bins a challenge. Sometimes however you can get it just right. This little Hermit Thrush paused a moment deep in a pine (I think?) and created a stunning image with the backlit sun fighting to stream into the shadow. Although these birds aren’t spectacular, I still love this image.
Northern Mockingbirds live throughout the U.S. in both urban and rural environments. UF researchers recently discovered that these highly intelligent birds remember people who have threatened them in the past, and will attack if they see the same person again.
The Northern Mockingbird is one of the most iconic birds of the South. It is probably the bird that people see the most as they travel around in their everyday lives. It’s also the state bird of five states, one which is Florida.
It’s most famous of course because it’s a very vocal bird. They imitate the songs of at least 50 or 60 other species of Southern birds and they even mimic car horns and car alarms. But probably the reason why we see them most often is that they’re extremely aggressive. They attack almost anything they view as a threat including cats, including crows, hawks and even people. In fact, they really seem to take a particular dislike to some people; they attack them over and over again and seemingly ignore other people.
When we saw this we became curious about why it is they seem to really only dislike a certain number of us. So we decided to do an experiment when we were studying the Mockingbird nesting behavior. We divided up our students into two groups: one of whom would stand next to the nest and not touch it; and another group would stand next to the nest but actually touch the nest. We found that after a single trial the Mockingbird learned which humans were a threat and which ones weren’t, and they would start attacking the ones that touched the nest and they would ignore the ones that didn’t. They did this over and over again, and the more the students did this the stronger their reaction became, until eventually we found that they could even pick out the people who had touched the nest from a crowd of a hundred people. And they would ignore everyone else, go right for the person who had touched their nest, and it didn’t matter what clothes they were wearing, how they were wearing their hair, whether they were wearing a hat; they were obviously learning to recognize the face of these people.
We of course took this as one more line of evidence that birds are way, way more intelligent than we think. They have very small brains but those brains are really powerful, especially in things like this that really help them because these birds face a lot of predators. We think one of the reasons why they’re so common, they’re so successful, they do so well in urban environments, is they can learn very exactly who is a threat and who isn’t, even within predators. And in fact, this is one of the reasons why we think that being called a birdbrain is not an insult at all.
I found this one along Joe Overstreet Road in Osceola County, Florida.

Broad Scarlet is a darter dragonfly. The males are highly territorial and often observed perching on a branch or rock near running and standing waters. They dislike shade and can be seen patrolling through the desert and open woodland habitats. This species of dragonfly is rare to the UK, but common to the warmer, southern parts of Europe.
This male was seen in a semi-desert area of Senegal, West Africa.

That red lichen was everywhere along the east coast of Tasmania. I can't blame it I suppose. If I was a red lichen, I'd be likin' hanging around those turquoise waters too.
I used to dislike moss, but now I think it's growing on me ;)
Have a great Friday and thanks for any comments, they are greatly appreciated !

You can interpret this mural in many ways:
- feeling sick
- I dislike cars
- I dislike the whole society
Any more options? Let me know ;-))
new options:
- I'm an outsider
- My mind is free and cannot be walled in
- Iemand die de natuur meer ruimte wil geven (Someone who wants to give more priority to nature)
- Schreeuwen helpt niet (shouting doesn't help)
- Hear me
- We're swallowed into the abyss by pollution and greed
- Fed up with it all
- Listening & not hearing.
- Blind to the ways of Mankind
Happy Fence Friday!!

He's a real hit at all the lakes now I even got a "what a well behaved dog" from a young man and that certainly wasn't the case on the first camping trip. Rooster is making friends everywhere he goes and no one forgets his name. His cardiovascular fitness was very poor when I first got him now he fetches forever without breathing hard and I have to call it quits as he has no quit. His favourite is the lighthouse toy it can go far and it bobs up in the water so he can see it and he doesn't mind sharing it with other dogs he meets. I managed to get him on a paddle board this summer. People are still trying to guess his breed. He gets fed raw organ meats, eggs, along with fruits and veggies and much to my dislike he eats horse crap too which all my dogs have done....can't be avoided as its everywhere! lol Best of all he kisses the cats now.
Decided to play with Gimp today. Although I still dislike their interface it has some interesting options and a curious filter labelled 'Special Effects that Nobody Understands'. XD
I'm still a Photoshop guy but if you can't afford their fees you may like to give Gimp a go as its entirely free.

I love watching water falls. All the variations of spray and textures, drops and waves... all things that are removed from an image when LE is used. I have gotten to the point that I have a strong dislike for LE images where all the texture of the water falling is blurred into a smooth nothing.
This particular waterfall I have shot many times from different angles and it never fails to delight. It's found in Southford Falls State Park in Connecticut.

So, normal people tend to bundle up, stay inside, and avoid creepy places in the middle of the night when it's in the twenties.... Not photographers... evidently we flock to creepy locals, ignore freezing temperatures, laugh in the face of pitch black doom.... All in the name of a decent photo. This is a gift shop, open during the summer. I've been itching to take a photo of it for a week or two now. Thankfully I didn't discover the no trespassing sign till the end of the shoot.... I dislike trespassing, or breaking any laws in the name of a photo. This building burned down not long after this photo, and I have never been able to correct the shot... this was originally taken in 2016.
We all dream of travelling, but waiting in airports is the part I very much dislike!
Taken during sunset in the Munich airport, pre Covid 19 !
I dislike many aspects of Rodeos, but there are many beautiful animals there. I loved this horse, especially.
I dislike this shot and its only on here to show how the pretty background colours were accounted for on the beach leaves shot. The sun was hitting that pinky coloured cliff from a late afternoon sun in that shot though. The cove looked close to our campsite and I made a start with nothing much to do except take a LE...We were alone but a couple with a little dog very similar in appearance to Merry appeared. My camera was on a tripod of course and I was using a cable release - more reliable I find. Anyway the woman tentatively approached me and stood gazing the way my camera was pointing and asked " what are you taking a photo of " I have to admit she had a point lol....we read reviews about that cove AFTER we just dobbed a finger on the map and set off. The place had toilets (closed) a cafe (closed ) and a gaggle of ragged tents around the corner where several rough sleepers actually live. They got bad press for the litter they didn't clean up but if you have to sleep rough I suppose there are worse places than the little sheltered cove. Now the reason we returned was that it had clifftop woodland walk and our dogs enjoyed it and the sun hit these cliffs making them a beautiful pink and the water turquoise, however the sun was dropping fast but I was not tempted down to this cove for a second attempt as the descent fairly steep if short..and the sun had gone within a short time.
Hope you have a wonderful Sunday all :)
Note to self: I shaved, but I dislike shaving. And I dislike growth as well. Probably close to a week this time.
Purrcy took an instant dislike to this little "plastic" cat that sits on top of a pen...
I couldn't believe all the shots I got of him trying to chew his head off!!
This is my entry for Macro Monday - Plastic...
