Moody morning across the Loch Voil

Another moody capture from Neist Point Lighthouse on Isle of Skye

B R No 44781 stands in Oban station in the Spring of 2014.

The Cathedrals Explorer arrived from Fort William, B R No 45407 was at the other end of the train, the top and tailing being adopted because of no turning of no run around facilities and ease of railway working.

44781 is being prepared for the return journey back to Fort William.

Skara Brae is a large stone-built Neolithic settlement, located on the Bay of Skaill on the west coast of Mainland, Orkney, Scotland. It consists of ten clustered houses, and was occupied from roughly 3180 BC–2500 BC. It is Europe's most complete Neolithic village and the level of preservation is such that it has gained UNESCO World Heritage Site status and been called the "Scottish Pompeii".

Caelaverock Castle is situated on the Dumfries and Galloway peninsular.

The castle is a moated triangular castle built in the 13th century. It was the stronghold of the Maxwell family for over 300 years.

Island sky is a passenger ship, built in 1992 and is registered under the Bahamas flag. Its former names are Renaissance Eight in 2001, Renaili in 2003 and Island Sky in 2004, the present owners being Noble Caledonia London U K.

The Glenfinnan Viaduct the first bridge to be built with reinforced concrete.

The shot shows Black 5 No 5407 (BR 45407) in L M S livery crossing the viaduct with a mixed rake of coaches. some in the old Scottish livery of cream and green, others in the more modern livery which became known as raspberry ripple.

The bridge in later years became famous for the Harry Potter movies.

The Old Town of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has preserved its medieval plan and many Reformation-era buildings.

North Queensferry Fife

 

The Harbour Light in North Queensferry was designed by Robert Stevenson and dates back to c1817 and was used to safely guide the many ferries that plied the Queensferry Passage from the other shore of the River Forth , namely South Queensferry.

 

The North Queensferry Heritage Trust (HQHT) started it renovations on 2nd February 2009 and this was recorded by BBC Scotland's daily news programme "Reporting Scotland". The iconic Forth Bridge grandly makes up the backdrop.

Anstruther , or 'Enster' to the locals is one of the bonniest seaside towns in the East Neuk of Fife. It's history has always been behind the fishing industry. The famous Anstruther Fish Bar (on the right) where there is always a queue outside it's door to taste their delicious award-winning fish & Chips or fish teas.

When I arrived to see the Fairy Pools for the first time, I looked at the colour of the water and thought that's more grey then green-blue. But as I made my way upstream, these most amazing pools opened up with such a vivid colour, that I had to take down the water saturation in post-processing.

Fort William is a major tourist centre with Glen Coe just to the south, and Glenfinnan to the west.

Inverness is a city in northern Scotland. The city is the administrative centre for the Scottish Highlands

 

Inverness Castle sits on a cliff overlooking the River Ness, in Inverness, Scotland. The red sand stone structure evident today was built in 1836 by architect William Burn.
