After the Wars of Dissolution, the Yugoslav Ministry of Defense realized it would need to modernize key components of the National Army before Yugoslavia's neighbors decided to steamroll the reeling nation. One of these components was of course the armored corps which hadn't seen much enhancement since mid-Cold War. Unfortunately, the Wars of Dissolution managed to take their toll on Yugoslavia's heavy industry and much of the state economy was in disarray as workers had abandoned their posts to fight for nationalistic factions or were kidnapped/intimidated by these factions.

After nearly two years of negotiations with Czechia, Yugoslavia managed to secure a cheap stop-gap deal that would allow the latter to purchase upgrade kits for its dated T-84s (domestic clones of the Soviet T-72). The kits--designated as the T-72M4YUG standard in Czechia--were primarily meant for adding ERA to key areas of the the tank, enhancing the onboard optics, and adding a more powerful powerplant. The last component came with something of a downside as the new engine was quite the fuel-hungry beast, so the Yugoslavs added four hardpoints for external fuel tanks to be attached during marches. At any rate, the new M-72A standard has demonstrated its worth as it was the predominant armored combatant in the Second Eastern European War and has reportedly been serving with the Yugoslav-backed Black Cross units who continue to terrorize the Balkans.

One of the few remaining ancient fortifications that once protected the Old Town from invasion, Partisan Hill was built between 1594 and 1598, and originally awarded the name Bastion Sakwowy (Saddlebag Bastion). The buildings you see today date from the 19th century, however, when the area was redeveloped as public recreational space. A fearsome tower designed by Berlin architect Carl Schmidt was added in 1867, though this was demolished during WWII to prevent advancing Russian troops from using it as a reference point for artillery shelling. At the start of the Siege of 1945 the subterranean bunkers and catacombs were used as HQ by Nazi high command, though they relocated in March 1945 as the Red Army drew closer. After the war the hillock was oddly re-christened 'Partisan Hill' and the old cellars temporarily housed a museum. Sadly sold to private investors in the 1990s, and having since been occupied by beer gardens, strip clubs and restaurants, today the area lies in complete disarray, forlorn and forgotten - a once gleaming construction littered with smashed bottles and spray can squiggles. The creepy, wind-swept loneliness that greets visitors is ripe for myth and legend, and stories of secret Nazi tunnels and the ghostly shrieks of prisoners tortured to death in medieval times abound. As word spread throughout Lenfald of its newfound independence, the rioting quickly subsided and was replaced with celebration in the street and even public displays of national pride. Citizens walked with purpose and went about their daily labors with vigor, invigorated by the exciting news. Young men once again lined up to enlist in the service of Lenfald.

Abner was sent with Gottfried to assist in the training of some of these new recruits and to share with them some of his personal experiences with the rangers. This task took the men to the southern wall of Ainesford city proper, where the new training area for spear units had been constructed. It consisted of not much more than an open field adjacent to the perimeter wall, but it was well-kept and served its purpose well.

The rangers were escorted by Captain Harmon, the commander of the training center and its garrison. He briefed the two men as they made their way alongside the wall.

"We learned a lot of valuable lessons during the war with Loreos," he said. "Namely that Lenfald simply lacked a solid defense against the might of the Loreesi cavalry and elephants. But no more." He gestured in the direction of a formation of pikemen on the drill field. "Observe."

"Ready... BRACE!" came the command from the sergeant in charge of the formation. The soldiers moved in perfect synchronization, the front rank dropping to a knee and simultaneously lowering their long spears and the men behind them filling the gaps with their own pikes. Any enemy coming against the formation would now be facing a deadly thicket of sharpened steel.

"As you can see," continued Captain Harmon with a smirk, "That problem has long been resolved. We have also been training new spear units, armored and carrying kite shields, to protect the flanks of our armies. All of our new soldiers will be useful in fending off enemy infantry and cavalry while our archers rain death upon them."

Captain Gottfried Meyrick nodded. "Well done, Captain. It would appear that Ainesford is well prepared for any contingency."

"Aye," came the reply, "and not just Ainesford, but all Lenfald."

Abner spoke up, "To what do you refer, sir? Have you more news to share?"

Captain Harmon lowered his voice. "Aye, ranger. The Areani think themselves quite clever spies, but they are nothing compared to Lenfel scouts. We have them thoroughly convinced that our nation's military is in disarray and that our people continue to riot. Even now the Loreesi are assembling a mighty host under the command of Mark of Falworth just south of our borders. They believe us weak and disorganized. This will give us a critical advantage if the desert rats decide to attempt another incursion into our lands. We will rout them and send them running back to the sand pits."

Abner furrowed his brow. "But would it not be more advantageous to arrange a great show of force along the border? Discourage Loreos from invading to begin with?"

Captain Harmon shook his head. "One would think so, at first," he replied, "but Jarius does not think in this manner. He has likely already decided whether or not he will invade Lenfald; it matters not how many men we amass at the border. Jarius' pride is too great for him to back down no matter what the odds. No, young warrior, our best course of action is to continue to feed our enemy false intelligence. But in the meantime, let's continue with our preparations."

Actually I found this only a couple of days into my project while on holidays down the coast.

We were heading back to the house when we saw it parked on the side of the road near the beach . . . two girls were at the helm . . . their Kombi interior resembling that of a teenagers bedroom in disarray and complete with handbags and pink feather boa hanging from the roof inside!

I've been wanting to put this one up from the start but didn't have the right image to pair with it, that is until I found this one today in an old antique warehouse of all places! It's amazing what you can find in a lunch break!

We're looking across to the left side of the Collierville Macy's in this view, where there was already some disarray in the shoe department over there, not surprising of course since shoe departments often manage to stay that way even during normal times! And note the generous amount of "additional 10% off" signs on many of the counters in the foreground.

Poem.

Last snows of spring.

The misty peak of

Rugged, raw, rocky valleys,

Raging, tumbling, plunging burns

This place gloriously throws the senses into disarray.

This 420 million-year-old remnant of

It is magnificent beyond my feeble words.

I never post back stories for my MOCs, but I’m making an exception this time. If y’all read all of this, I’ll be seriously impressed.

A fully recorded account of this story can be found in the Grandmaster Library in the city of Goldenrod; but, given the current situation, that library is unavailable. The story goes roughly as follows: Three-thousand years ago, in a land far away from Roawia, there lived a simple blacksmith by the name of Orion. This smith lived in a time of near anarchy, where regimes were overthrown daily and where lawlessness was rampant. Good men lived in the shadows, seeking only what was needed to survive, while evil men lived in the sunlight, hoarding power and thriving off greed. The need for order was obvious, but the strength necessary for order was eluding man’s grasp. That is, until God visited Orion in the dead of night. God gave the smith a chunk of a golden metal, infused with His own power and might. Orion knew immediately what he must do. By divine intervention, Orion forged a Crown of power out of the golden metal. With the birth of that Crown a nation was born, a nation that dominated the land in every aspect for three thousand years.

The Crown was passed down from Orion, father to son, creating a dynasty as legendary and powerful as the Crown itself. For three-hundred generations, evil was fought, territory was gained, and cities were built. Each king ruled with justice and fought with valor. There were times of war and peace, prosperity and famine, enlightenment and decline. The nation, which came to be called the Dawn Crown (or simply, the Crown), went through four distinct golden ages up to the point where our story begins, the most recent occurring one hundred and fifty years ago under the reign of King Cormac II, also known as Cormac the Great. (This is the time period where most of my castle MOCs are set.) The Crown slowly declined from that time onward, until disaster struck forty years ago.

Cormac VI, the great-great-grandson of the legendary Cormac the Great became king at the age of thirty-eight. Later that same year, he fathered a son, Cormac VII. During the second year of his reign, evil struck at the heart of the nation. Bandits, men from nowhere, crept into the palace at Goldenrod during the dead of night. They stole the king’s Crown, by strange magical means, and fled to places unknown. The ensuing months were pandemonium. Somehow, the people of the Crown knew. They knew that their sole source of power was gone. Cormac searched everywhere, roaming across the land for years and years, leaving his nation in disarray. He was rarely at the palace to raise his son, and he could only watch as his nation crumbled before him. The Orcs attacked from the north crippling dozens of cities along the way. They wormed their way through the heart of the land, until after twenty years of war; they finally arrived at Goldenrod to sack the capital. Cormac VI and his men fought valiantly, but all was for naught. Cormac was slain in battle by a rogue arrow. Without their King and their Crown, the nation was overtaken. Prince Cormac VII, spurred by the anger at the death of his father was running to fight to his death defending the gates of Goldenrod when a most curious thing happened. An old man, withering away before their eyes, stopped him on his march, and proclaimed to him these words: “It’s in Roawia”. Cormac knew immediately what he had to do. He gathered twenty of his best men and sent those that were left to hold the gate for as long as they could.

He had heard stories from his mother about Roawia, a land far to east, across the sea. Cormac and his men fled, to the coast, to their last resort set in place by his grandfather. A ship, packed with months of provisions, had been hidden in a cove right outside of Goldenrod. The men clambered on to the ship, carrying with them as many relics of the nation as they could. Cormac left that day, leaving a nation smoldering in ruins, only a shadow of its former glory. But as he watched the city burn from the sea, he swore to himself and his nation that he would return, with the Crown on his head, to re-establish the nation that had ruled so valiantly for three-thousand years.

So our story for the LCC starts with the arrival of Cormac VII, beaten and worn, on the western coast of Lenfald, just south of Isil Oro. Cormac must find the Crown, not only for himself, but for his nation as well.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times:

Respect the Crown, even if it is green thesedays.

It is Christmas time and there is nothing better than a wreath hung that greats and welcomes everyone. I drive down this road in the evening and this barn sets back off the road. Many barns this old are in disarray but this is well kept. It has been taken care of over the years. The wreath hanging on the mow door tells you any animals inside are well cared for.

This is the same hawk that I posted yesterday. When I returned to see if it had scored on catching breakfast this is how he looked. Looks like he lost the fight with the small rodent. All his feathers in disarray, mud on its beak and mud on his talons. I watched as he began to smooth his feathers. I then left him in peace. Did he catch the rodent? I'll never know.

tiny tubes ordered in disarray.

In the far reaches of northern Scotland, within a village where time meanders at its own tranquil pace, a series of images unfolds, painting a tableau of life's relentless march amidst the shadows of climate's dismay and the distant rumbles of war that threaten to engulf Europe. It is a Wednesday evening, draped in the quietude of rainfall, a scene reminiscent of an Edward Hopper collection—imbued with solitude, emptiness, yet a profound continuance.

A Poem:

In this hamlet 'neath Scottish skies so wide,

Where the rains whisper and the winds confide,

Looms the spectre of a world in disarray,

Yet within these bounds, life finds its way.

Upon the cusp of night, shadows merge and dance,

In the pub's warm glow, eyes steal a glance.

The hearth's soft crackle, a comforting song,

In this northern retreat, where hearts belong.

The world outside may churn and roar,

With climates wracked and the drums of war.

Yet here we stand, in this time-suspended place,

Where tomorrow's worries are but a trace.

The local pub, our living room, our sphere,

A sanctuary from doubt, from dread, from fear.

We'll return come dusk, as sure as the tide,

In the rhythm of the ordinary, we take pride.

For what are we, but passengers in time,

Through days mundane, through nights sublime?

The question lingers, in the air, it floats,

Is this all there is? In whispers, it denotes.

Yet, as we stand 'neath the gentle pour,

We find beauty in the repeat, in the encore.

For in these moments, life's essence we distill,

In the quiet of the village, in the peace, so still.

A Haiku:

Rain veils the night's face,

Quiet pub bids farewell—

Life's quiet march on.

229/365: I'll organise tomorrow, deadlines can wait. I'm not enjoying falling asleep when I'm reading. For now, sleep awaits.

So, while the series is talking a break, the character bio's are not. Well, probably. I was gonna put a complete halt on them, but I came up with this a bit ago, so I thought I'd update Luthors backstory, while also explaining how people still look so young. If you cast your mind back to the JSA bios, you might remember me mentioning 'Luthor-chem'. Actually, I may have called it 'Lex-chem'. I'll double check. Anywho, this bio will include an explanation for that. So, without further ado, I'll jump right in.

Lex Luthor

After many years of failure, Lexcorps future wasn't looking too bright. Until Lexcorp acquired a valuable asset: a Kryptonian. A unique opportunity arose. Investing everything he had into genetic research, Luthor was able to advance the field of medicine and genetic research by years, decades even. He founded a new company: Luthor-chem. This new company specialised in genetic research for medicinal purposes. Almost single handedly, he made the world healthier. In 1984, he was even able to create a life extending drug. Thanks to that, people were living longer, fuller lives.

However, in secret, in a hidden lab, miles under the Lexcorp building, he was working on something else: Cloning. From a single Kryptonian specimen, Luthor and his team were able to create three clones. Three because the first attempts were...flawed.

But the third attempt was perfect in every respect. Luthor had cracked it. The key to cloning himself an army of Supermen. But then, disaster struck. With the Millennium war raging, nearly all of Luthors work was destroyed, and the specimen escaped. Furthermore, the fire pits left by Darkseids army had destroyed all power sources across the globe.

However, as Luthor always had done, he found a way to turn the disaster into a win. For years before, he had been adamant that Kryptonite could be used as a source of power. Ultimately, he was proved right, and Kryptonite was used to power the world, temporarily.

Unfortunately, what Luthor did not know, was that Kryptonite is highly radioactive. As a result of this, Luthor slowly developed cancers and tumours spreading through his body. Now he can only watch from his chair, as Superman reforms the Earth in his own image.

Luthor-chem

After its founding in 1984, Luthor-chem quickly dominated the stock market. Everyone wanted a piece. This increased ten fold when Luthor announced a new form of medicine: Life extending drugs. With these, people could live well into their hundreds, yet still retain the health they had when they were younger. This development pushed the world forward in leaps and bounds. Age was no longer a limiting factor. People could fulfil their dreams, given that they now had more time. Lex Luthor even provided the drugs to superheroes, which was...odd. Although Luthor had always been critical of the ideals of these heroes, he realised that they were needed in this world.

However, there were some who did not trust Luthor. Superman for one was convinced he was up to something. He refused the drug, instead relying on his Kryptonian genes to keep him going. Unfortunately, many other heroes were not so lucky. Many accepted the drug, even despite their trepidations about Luthors intentions. Even his most hardened adversary's conceded in the end. Even Batman, who was known for his paranoia was forced into taking them, if just to keep his strength. The world needed Batman, and he wanted to hold the mantle as long as possible.

But, despite it all, there were still groups who opposed him. There were many natural life groups that did everything they could to stop the production of the life extending drugs. They argued that everyone has their time, and that they had a time to live, and a time to die. But they were a minority. The masses lapped up the drug, using it to extend their golden years almost indefinitely. By this point, Luthor-chem had also cured many condidtions, that had been a death sentence in the past. Certain cancers, Diabetes, cystic fibrosis, the list went on and on.

However, despite these victories, there were setbacks. In 1998, an inquest was held into the unexplained origins of the drug. There were large gaps in the documented process that could not be explained. In November of 1999, a court order was issued, demanding that Luthor-chem submit to an inspection of all their facilities. This inspection never came. On the 1st of January, 2000, boom tubes opened all around the world, spilling armies of parademons, the forces of the new god Darkseid, and sparking the millennium war. During the war, countless lives were extinguished, and the origins of the life extending drug were no longer relevant. For the time being, Luthor was safe. Until the facility holding specimen, KrZ, the source of all of Luthors innovations, escaped, throwing the company into disarray. The war had taken its toll, and Luthor-chem simply didn't have the resources to recapture their prized specimen. Besides, they had bigger issues to deal with.

Even once the war had been put behind them, and the world moved on, Luthor-chem stocks were never as high as they had been. The natural life groups had evolved, taking in religous fanatics, who claimed the millennium war happened because of mankinds arrogance. As a result, Luthor-chem stocks fell, but not so much as to seriosuly compromise the company. After all, the war had made people desperate for life, to cling to it for as long as they could.

Despite all his development and innovations, Luthor was rendered immobile, due to his kryptonite caused cancer. Because the life extending drug had been created from kryptonian DNA, it had no effect on the tumours and growths overtaking Luthors body. Ad a result, Luthor can only watch as the world changes. But, he has a contingency. A plan to retake the Earth from Superman. Fighting fire with fire.

So that's that. I hope that helps to explain the age problems that have been...around. So, what is Luthors plan? You'll have to wait until the next half of Justice league: Overlords to find out.

As always, lemme know what you think :D

A woman walking alone through The old Royal Naval college in Greenwich, South East London has a similar feel to goings on at present across the Thames in Westminster.

Unique in its state as a temple married into the jungle, Ta Prohm instantly became the poster temple of the picturesque. The jumble of stones are still in disarray, corridors are left impassable and the state of ruins are conserved. Popular among tourists, it photogenically looks like an archeological dig.

What is more romantic than a temple overrun by nature, with trees creeping over the boulders, vines twisting into the walls and roots strangling the statuaries?

This was taken from a beach looking north from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. Horseshoe Bay is a major ferry terminal, serving Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast, as well as several smaller islands, so the view was frequently interrupted by large ferries passing by (and, a few minutes later, by the waves from their wake!)

Vancouver's beaches are known to have a lot of driftwood, and this beach was no exception. I had to climb over quite a lot of huge logs to get to the 'front lines' for this shot.

Working out a composition was a bit daunting, as there was so much disarray, but I eventually settled on this, using the unusually-shaped worn down roots of a tree as the centre point.

On the right hand side can be seen the west slopes of the mountains in Cypress Provincial Park. Starting from just to the right of the centre and moving left, you can see Bowyer Island, Anvil Island, Gambier Island and Bowen Island.

I used a 3-stop graduated ND filter for this photograph.

During the unexpected invasion of Ukraine by Yugoslav-backed forces in 2016, the Ukrainian armed forces were ill-structured and -equipped. Although the military had been investing in new platforms, it failed to produce them efficiently or in relation to actual combat needs. Hence, the Ukrainian military was almost in complete disarray, allowing for enemy forces to gain substantial ground in spite of their own shortcomings. As a stopgap measure, many nations within NATO and its periphery donated arms to the Ukrainian regulars and volunteer forces who took up arms against the initial wave of invaders.

The Nordic Defence Council (NDC) in particular delivered several of its phased-out Jülkat special operations Humvees. Formerly used to patrol Al Dabir during the NDC's peacekeeping operations in the region (which explains why many featured desert paint schemes in Ukraine), the Jülkat was a trimmed down version of the venerable Humvee, albeit with some add-ons in the way of communications and storage. Soon, however, the Jülkat was replaced by the much more robust Volvo C404 Black Dog which offered much greater protection against small arms and buried explosives.

Nevertheless, the old M1151s served the Ukrainian special forces community admirably and offered them a high degree of maneuverability once deployed against the hordes of Romanian and Yugoslav forces. Often seen equipped with ATGMs or slim armored turrets, the Humvees were used to take potshots at enemy armor, observe force movements, and disrupt rear echelon units to buy the Ukrainian regulars and militias enough time to muster strength. Although Ukraine ultimately survived intact thanks to NATO's lethal and persistent use of airpower, the role of small, elite units empowered by legacy equipment cannot be understated. Unsurprisingly, because of the role of these small units, many Jülkats are retained as trophy trucks despite the offer of much better equipment to Ukraine's armed forces.

The water gate and the modern path leading from it down to the lochside. In medieval times, galleys would have been far and away the quickest means of moving up and down this end of the Great Glen and having reached the south end of Loch Ness, you were already more than half way to the western sea.

After its granting to the Grants, it was not long before Urquhart was tested in its new role as a bulwark against the western clans - and it was found wanting. In 1513, following the disastrous Battle of Flodden, Sir Donald MacDonald of Lochalsh attempted to gain from the disarray in Scotland by claiming the Lordship of the Isles and occupying Urquhart Castle. Grant regained the castle before 1517, but not before the MacDonalds had driven off 300 cattle and 1,000 sheep, as well as looting the castle of provisions.

In 1545 the castle was again attacked and taken by the Macdonalds in conjunction with the Camerons this time, as part of a feud against the Gordons, Frasers and Grants. Known as the "Great Raid", the raiders succeeded in taking away 2,000 cattle, as well as hundreds of other animals. They stripped the castle of its furniture, twenty cannon, a powder vessel and even the gates! Repairs followed, but this period marked the start of the decline of the castle, which was to play little part in the events of the centuries that followed.

In this month’s Fred’s post over at the Mid-South Retail Blog, we’re exploring the Senatobia, MS, store on its very last day in operation. I didn’t mention this over at the post, but if you look closely in this image, you can actually see how the store used to have two sets of doors instead of just this one, with large windows to either side of those two sets of doors: check out all the areas where the stonework is of a different size; that’s a clear indicator of the old design. Pretty cool. Anyway, if you’re interested in seeing that post, please click on over to this link!

Arrived in Page on January 26th just as the clouds were beginning to roll in. I had little idea of what to do in town so I just found a cheap motel in which to spend the night. While checking in I perused the ubiquitous motel-bookstand-full-of-fliers-of-what-to-do-around-here and discovered to my delight that Antelope Canyon was right in town on the Navajo Reservation. "Well holy jeez," I thought to myself, "I shall have to pay a visit."

Next morning I roll out of bed at 9:25 and poke my head outside. It's completely overcast, with little snow flurries here and there. Shoot. I guess my "grand vista" type photography is kaput for the day. But I figure the clouds will give some nice even lighting to Antelope Canyon so I grab the flier for one of the tour companies taking people out to the canyon. I give them a ring and ask if they have any extended tours going out today. "We sure do," says the guy. "We have one going out at 9:30." I look at my watch: it's 9:29. Crap.

Then the guy says, "but our driver isn't here yet so you still have a little time to get here."

"Ok, gimme 10 minutes," I say, then hang up, throw on some warm clothes, pile all my camera gear into my bag, grab a granola bar from my cache, put the do not disturb sign on the door, run outside and down the steps and into the motel lobby, tell them I want to stay another night, run back outside, jump into my car, peel out of the parking to go searching for the tour company, and find it literally across the street from my motel. Excellent.

I climb out of my car, my hastily-grabbed possessions falling out onto the sidewalk in complete disarray. I quickly sort things out and walk into the office, where there is only one other tourist waiting. Luckily for me, this guy wanted to go to Antelope Canyon so badly that he booked two spots (the tour minimum) just to make sure it went out. Even so, it was a last-minute type deal, which is why the driver was late.

Anyway, a few minutes later the driver shows up, obviously having just been called in (she told us this was normally her day off and was home with her kids) and takes us out to the canyon. But since the tour was last minute and she had rushed to get out of the house, our guide was only wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, despite the fact that it was around 35 degrees out. So after about 10 minutes in the canyon she headed back to the truck to get warm and just let me and the other guy wander around the canyon for the next two hours by ourselves.

And since it was wintertime, we literally had the place entirely to ourselves for those two magical hours. Because of the time of year as well as the clouds, we didn't see any of those iconic lightbeams, but we did have something much more special: a chance to appreciate this amazing place without anyone else around to spoil the quiet magic of it.

Remember Me

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

Remember me in years to come

If I will fate away,

I was here for a moment some.

When things were still okay

To have a friend to see,

For everything is wastefully

Wastefully.

What purpose has this life of ours,

With all the various differences?

The world each opportunity devours

Before any truly acceptances.

It means a lot to me

To have a friend to see,

For everything is wastefully

Wastefully.

Each feeling 's for a while

That turns out wrong or right,

Some astray or beguile

In its moments and height.

Remember me in years to come

If friendship has been found,

Sometimes it's so gruesome

With nothing in the background.

It means a lot each day

You made me uniquely,

With all your sincerity

Sincerity.

It means a lot each way

For life is such a disarray,

When it comes to fair play

Fair play.

Remember me in years to come -

Remember me.

The subject of this image is a group of three galaxies, collectively known as NGC 7764A. They were imaged by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, using both its Advanced Camera for Surveys and Wide Field Camera 3. The two galaxies in the upper right of the image appear to be interacting with one another. The long trails of stars and gas extending from them give the impression that they have both just been struck at great speed, thrown into disarray by the bowling-ball-shaped galaxy to the lower left of the image. In reality, interactions between galaxies happen over very long time periods, and galaxies rarely collide head-on with one another. It is also unclear whether the galaxy to the lower left is interacting with the other two, although they are so relatively close in space that it seems possible that they are. By happy coincidence, the collective interaction between these galaxies has caused the two on the upper right to form a shape, which from our solar system's perspective, resembles the starship known as the USS Enterprise from Star Trek!

NGC 7764A, which lies about 425 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Phoenix, is a fascinating example of just how awkward astronomical nomenclature can be. The three galaxies are individually referred as NGC 7764A1, NGC 7764A2, and NGC 7764A3. This rather haphazard naming makes more sense when we consider that many astronomical catalogs were compiled well over 100 years ago, long before modern technology made standardizing scientific terminology much easier. As it is, many astronomical objects have several different names, or might have names that are so similar to other objects’ names that they cause confusion.
