I was asked to submit a photo of myself for a directory. It doesn't have to be formal; in fact, the sample was a man sitting in his car, taking a selfie on his phone.
But, I considered it an opportunity! I've taken serious self-portraits over the past few years, but I have different glasses, a closer shave, and a much grayer beard! I also wanted to wear a shirt with a collar, rather than the sweatshirt in my buddy icon.
This morning, I spent nearly an hour with my DSLR on a wardrobe in the spare bedroom, with natural light.

The Regency Square Mall was renovated starting in late 2013, and renamed Florence Mall at that time. Dillard's is located in the back of the mall actually, and a glance over the directory shows many of the front locations (between the entrances) to be vacant. The Midway Mall opened in 1966 with Higbee's, Sears, JCPenney, and Woolworth as anchor stores. Over the years, Higbee's became Dillard's (then closed in 2007) and Woolworth became Best Buy. A new south wing was added to Midway Mall in 1990. That wing featured a May Company department store (later Kaufmann's and Macy's before closing in early 2016).
As of Summer 2017, the Sears department store is closing and the mall has just been sold for $4.25 million on July 12th. As of writing this, the buyer of the mall has yet to be known. The rumors for what happens to the mall next are all over the place; they range from a hospital complex to a hotel / casino complex to a giant mobile home park (obviously a joke)...
Hopefully something actually is done rather than letting the mall slowly die like Randall Park or Rolling Acres did. At least the occupancy in this mall has stabilized for the small stores over the last couple years instead of continuing downward. The department store closings seem to be the biggest drain on the mall; JCPenney is the last traditional department store left at the mall after the Sears closing.

Napoléon Bonaparte born Napoleone di Buonaparte; 15 August 1769 – 5 May 1821) was a French military and political leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution and its associated wars. As Napoleon I, he was Emperor of the French from 1804 until 1814, and again in 1815. Napoleon dominated European affairs for nearly two decades while leading France against a series of coalitions in the Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. He won the large majority of his battles and seized control of most of continental Europe before his ultimate defeat in 1815. One of the greatest commanders in history, his campaigns are studied at military schools worldwide and he remains one of the most celebrated and controversial political figures in Western history. In civil affairs, Napoleon implemented several liberal reforms across Europe, including the abolition of feudalism, the establishment of legal equality and religious toleration, and the legalization of divorce. His lasting legal achievement, the Napoleonic Code, has been adopted by dozens of nations around the world.
Napoleon was born on the island of Corsica to a relatively modest family of noble Italian ancestry. From 1789, Napoleon supported the Revolution and tried to spread its ideals to Corsica, but he was banished from the island in 1793. In 1795, he saved the French government from collapse by firing on the Parisian mobs with cannons, an event known as the 13 Vendémiaire. The Directory appointed him as General of the Army of Italy at age 26. After marrying Joséphine de Beauharnais in March 1796, he started the Italian military campaign that transformed him into a well-known figure in Europe. In 1798 he launched a military expedition to Egypt, conquering the Ottoman province with a decisive victory at the Battle of the Pyramids and facilitating the rise of modern Egyptology.
The Directory collapsed when Napoleon and his supporters engineered a coup in November 1799. He was installed as First Consul of the Consulate and progressively extended his personal control over France. An important victory over the Austrians at the Battle of Marengo in 1800 cemented his political power. The Consulate witnessed a number of achievements for Napoleon, such as the Concordat of 1801 with the Catholic Church and the Treaty of Amiens in 1802. In 1804, the Senate declared him the Emperor of the French, setting the stage for the French Empire. Intractable differences with the British meant by 1805 the French were facing a Third Coalition. Napoleon shattered this coalition with decisive victories in the Ulm Campaign and a historic triumph at the Battle of Austerlitz. The Peace of Pressburg culminated in the elimination of the millennial Holy Roman Empire. In October 1805, however, a combined Franco-Spanish fleet was destroyed at the Battle of Trafalgar, allowing Britain to impose a naval blockade of the French coasts. In retaliation, Napoleon established the Continental System in 1806 to cut off European trade with Britain and the Fourth Coalition took up arms against him. The French crushed the Prussians at the battles of Jena and Auerstedt in October 1806, while in June 1807 Napoleon annihilated another Russian army at the Battle of Friedland. This forced the Russians to the peace table, with the Treaties of Tilsit in July 1807, often regarded as the high watermark of the French Empire.
Napoleon tried to compel Portugal to follow the Continental System by sending an army into Iberia. In 1808, he declared his brother Joseph Bonaparte the King of Spain, which precipitated the outbreak of the Peninsular War, widely noted for its brutal guerrilla warfare. In 1809 the Austrians launched another attack against the French. Napoleon defeated them at the Battle of Wagram, dissolving the Fifth Coalition formed against France. After the Treaty of Schönbrunn in the fall of 1809, he divorced Josephine and married Austrian princess Marie Louise in 1810. By 1811, Napoleon ruled over 70 million people across an empire that had near-total domination in Europe, which had not witnessed this level of political consolidation since the days of the Roman Empire. He maintained his strategic status through a series of alliances and family appointments to royal households. Napoleon launched a new aristocracy in France while allowing for the return of nobles who had been forced into exile by the Revolution.
Escalating tensions over the existence of a Polish State and the Continental System led to renewed enmity with Russia. To enforce his blockade, Napoleon launched an invasion of Russia in 1812 that ended in catastrophic failure for the French. In 1813, Prussia and Russia joined forces to fight France, and the Austrians also joined the Sixth Coalition. In October 1813, a large Allied army defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Leipzig. The next year, the Allies launched an invasion of France and captured Paris, forcing Napoleon to abdicate in April 1814. He was exiled to the island of Elba. The Bourbons were restored to power and the French lost most territories they had conquered since the Revolution. However, Napoleon escaped from Elba in February 1815 and returned to lead the French government, only to find himself at war against another coalition. This new coalition decisively defeated him at the Battle of Waterloo in June. He attempted to flee to the United States, but the British blocked his escape route. He surrendered to British custody and spent the last six years of his life in confinement on the remote island of Saint Helena. His death in 1821, at the age of 51, was received by shock and grief throughout Europe and the New World.
The first thing I saw when I looked at this directory was "Hickory Farms". I thought they were long out of the retail game so I went nearly running for the J section. I walked the entire area and couldn't find Hickory Farms there. When I got back home I looked them up and the last stores closed in 2000.
However, Hickory Farms has been running a "Holiday Market" in many kiosks at malls during the holidays over the last couple years. The Hickory Farms listing on this directory must be from one of those temporary store kiosks they ran over the holidays. There are still some locations still listed on the website but when you click on them to see the hours they all say closed (stores.hickoryfarms.com/). I wonder if any of those stores are still open or are now permanent.
Southland Center in Taylor, MI was opened in 1970. The mall was designed by Victor Gruen for the Dayton-Hudson Corporation (now Target).
The mall was originally anchored by a Hudson's department store. Later in the 1970s JCPenney was added. Mervyn's (now demolished for a new CineMark muliti-plex) and a Target (on an out-parcel) were added in the late 1980s. In the early 1990s a food court with a massive atrium was added. Hudson's later re-branded as Marshall Field's and again as Macy's in the 2000s. In 2006 Mervyn's left Michigan and Best Buy replaced the food court. Much of the food court was demolished for Best Buy but the atrium still exists in the middle of the store.
Since Dayton-Hudson sold off their properties and department stores, this mall is now owned by Rouse Properties. As of 2016, the mall recently got an H&M store and a CineMark cinema multiplex is being built on the old Mervyn's site. The CineMark looks like it is being built in the "NextGen" design and should be open later in 2016. I did notice a couple minor vacancies but they didn't appear like they were empty for too long. Overall, this mall seems to be doing pretty well.

Jays fan pulls urinal off wall, floods Rogers Centre
The Forest Fair Mall was opened in 1989 and originally featured Bigg's Hypermarket, Bonwit Teller, B. Altman, Elder-Beerman, Parisian, and Sakowitz as anchor stores. By the early 2000s, all of the anchor stores original to the mall had closed except for Bigg's Hypermarket.
The mall underwent two major renovations since its debut. One was done in the early 1990s to make the mall more of a discount-based mall and cost $8 Million. Mills later took over the mall and spent nearly $70 million renovating the struggling mall into Cincinnati Mills, which opened in 2004. Bass Pro Shops, Showcase Cinemas, Kohl's, and Burlington Coat Factory later moved into the mall to replace the original anchor stores. Mills was later taken over by Simon Malls. After struggling to keep the mall filled, Simon sold the mall off. The name was changed to Cincinnati Mall in 2009. The mall reportedly changed its name to Forest Fair Village in 2013 but never officially changed any of the exterior or interior signs saying "Cincinnati Mall".
This mall is very modern for a dead mall. I guess it goes to show that some malls just can't be saved no matter how much money is poured into them. There are two other major malls within several miles of this one that were built earlier with more stable (in the long run) anchor stores like Sears and JCPenney. This mall was also built off an exit that didn't get nearly the development as around the area's other malls. The mall still seems most commonly refered to as Cincinnati Mills. Today, this nearly 2,000,000 square foot mall has only Kohl's, Bass Pro Shops (leaving later in 2015), and Babies R Us as anchor stores. The interior of the mall is (by my estimate) about 95% empty.

This is a Texaco Service Station Directory presented in its original order. A useful reference for knowing where your nearest Texaco outlet was. Every Texaco outlet in the country was listed with its address but no date is given. I'm pretty certain it dates from the 1990s and probably quite early in that decade. I hope it might prove a useful reference for locations of sites, many of which still exist and many now under a different brand. When I have time I'll go through them one by one and see if I have any photos of them and then maybe indicate if they still exist or not but this will be a massive task!

A Great Place To Find What You Need!
In all of the other departments, this newer map is what customers can see and use to navigate the store. Of course, as has been pointed out before, Target maps are a bit misleading in that they don't actually say where exactly “here” is! This particular map is in the sporting goods department – the first assistance center icon you see in the top left of the store as pictured. Technically, while this map does correct the changes made from this store's earlier incarnation, it is still dated itself – that photo center in front of the restrooms has been gone for quite some time now.

Melway directories from 2000 through to 2012, plus a few Sydway, Brisway directories, a Perth directory, some VicRoads country directories, and a mixed bag old older UBD directories.
Here is the slightly unusual layout of the Lima Mall! The first thing you should notice is the JCPenney store in the middle of the mall. The part of the mall with Lazarus (now Macy's) was opened six years after the rest of the mall opened. It seems a possible expansion at a later date wasn't really taken into consideration when this mall was built. Also at this mall three of the four mall anchors have two mall entrances; of course it is necessary for JCPenney to have two because they cut the mall into two different pieces but I see no reason for Macy's or Elder-Beerman to have two.
The Lima Mall was opened in 1965 with Sears, JCPenney and The Leader as anchor stores. In 1971 a new wing of the mall opened that featured a Lazarus store. Over the years The Leader became Elder-Beerman and Lazarus became Macy's.
