Hello There,
Macro Mondays is a weekly theme-based challenge group. Our challenge this week was "Award."
This is a macro of my M.A. diploma. Before retiring, I practiced as a Speech/Language Pathologist. Now I refer to myself as a "Jack of all trades but a master of none!"

A Roman military diploma was a document inscribed on a thin sheet of bronze certifying that the holder was honourably discharged from the Roman armed forces after having served a minimum of 25 years, and/or had received the grant of Roman citizenship from the emperor as reward for service. This particular diploma was awarded to an Egyptian chap who adopted the name of Marcus Papirius for service in the Roman Navy. It also gave permission for him to marry (something forbidden to foreign servicemen at the time) and for his wife and son to also become citizens of Rome. I hope Marcus had a long and happy retirement.
The full size diploma dated 8 September AD 79 is part of the collection housed in the British museum in London and measures approximately 10 inches wide and about 16 inches in length.

Diploma from the Commercial Department of Albert College, Belleville, Ontario, awarded to John W. Richardson on 12th April 1900.
Text reads: "Know all men by these presents that John W. Richardson Having diligently attended complete Courses of Lectures and Classes of Practical Instruction in Bookkeeping, Accounts, Commercial Forms and Correspondence and Business Practice and Usages, was admitted to examinations, oral and written, in these subjects the results of which appear in the margin hereof, and in consideration of his proficiency therein We hereby recommend him to the favourable consideration of all Merchants, Traders, Factors, Accountants, Manufacturers and others engaged in Business. In Testimony Whereof we have awarded to him this Diploma and caused the same to be legally sealed and attested.
Given at the City of Belleville, this 12th day of April, A.D. 1900."
