Dinan (prononcé [dinɑ̃]) est une commune française, sous-préfecture située dans le département des Côtes-d'Armor en région Bretagne. C'est une ville du Poudouvre, en Haute-Bretagne.
La ville de Dinan est fortifiée par une ceinture de remparts et était défendue par un imposant château. Point stratégique pour la circulation entre la Normandie et la côte nord de Bretagne, Dinan est construite principalement sur une colline. La cité domine de 75 m la Rance qui coule vers le nord pour se jeter dans la Manche entre Saint-Malo et Dinard. Dinan proposa longtemps le pont le plus au nord pour traverser la Rance et son large estuaire.

Le viaduc inauguré en septembre 1852 est un ouvrage d'art remarquable conçu par l'ingénieur Mequin avec la collaboration de Jules Fessard pour la direction des travaux. Les plans et devis ont été approuvés dès 1843. Il a été en partie endommagé pendant la seconde guerre mondiale comme en témoigne de nombreux documents. Deux arches seront reconstruites entre 1945 et 1947 et la voie élargie entre 1966 et 1967.
La hauteur du viaduc s'élève entre la base des fondations et le sommet du parapet à 49,15m. Il se compose d'un seul rang d'arches en plein cintre, de 16 mètres d'ouverture, au nombre de dix, comprises entre neuf piles et deux culées.
I'm a big fan of colombage (half-timber) architecture and during my bike tour I tried to go through as many urban places as possible with this kind of architecture. Dinan was one of my absolute favourite places that I visited on my trip. There are so many beautiful streets and ramparts.
This summer I did a solo cycling tour across Europe through 12 countries over the course of 3 months. I began my adventure in Edinburgh, Scotland and finished in Florence, Italy cycling 8,816 km. During my trip I took 47,000 photos. I recently got through my initial sifting through my photos and I'm now ready to share some of my favourites.

Dinan (French: [dinɑ̃]; Breton: [ˈdinãn]) is a walled Breton town and a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department in northwestern France. On 1 January 2018, the former commune of Léhon was merged into Dinan.
ts geographical setting is exceptional. Instead of nestling on the valley floor like Morlaix, most urban development has been on the hillside, overlooking the river Rance. The area alongside the River Rance is known as the port of Dinan and is connected to the town by the steep streets Rue Jerzual and its continuation outside the walls the Rue de Petit Fort. This river has moderate turbidity and its brownish water is somewhat low in velocity due to the slight gradient of the watercourse; pH levels have been measured at 8.13[2] within the city of Dinan and electrical conductivity of the waters have tested at 33 micro-siemens per centimetre. In the centre of Dinan the Rance summer flows are typically in the range of 500 cubic feet per second (14 m3/s).
For many years, the bridge over the River Rance at Dinan was the most northerly crossing point on the river, but the tidal power station at the mouth of the estuary, constructed in the 1960s downstream from Dinan, incorporates a 750 metre long tidal barrage which doubles as a crossing point nearer to the sea.
