this is the herb dill. used for cooking and eaten by the native butterfly, the blacktail swallow something or other.....
they ate most of my dill and then before i could see them turn into butterflies they either left or were eaten by the birds. rats...curses foiled again.....
I didn't realize this was Dill, a herb, until I recognised the smell of its feathery leaves and tasted them. I find they are delicious with smoked salmon.
This plant with its beautiful flower is part of my wildflower border.
Dill is beautiful dried up. I brought some in from the garden to put in some small vases and forgot about them. I havent played around with textures in years so I played :)

my "favorite" from October 2014 is now Chrysalis (zoology chrysalis, pupa) and I watch constantly, if not the butterfly soon slips...

the preferred host plant of the Black Swallowtail Butterfly... they also love leaving eggs on the fennel!!
Apart from the value of the herb for us we grow dill as the it's one of the host plants for the Black Swallowtail butterfly and caterpillar.

This little lady bug had a busy day inspecting the buds of this dill flower in our garden several years ago. Not sure if Mondays are still macro days, but Happy Macro Monday anyway. :-)
