1958 Beutler Typ 1154/58 Modell Special Coupé

At the 1956 Geneva Motor Show, Carrosserie Gebrüder Beutler from Thün - Switzerland presents a spacious 2 + 2 Coupé: the Beutler Special Coupé.

The chassis is from a Volkswagen Beetle, the body is hand made of aluminum, it has a 1582cc Porsche air-cooled boxer engine with 60 hp and a 4-speed gearbox.

The ventilation grille in the engine cover (rear), windshield and rear window are from the 356.

Ferry Porsche approves the use of the official Porsche logos.

Porsche wants to have the Special built in series by Beutler, but then it should look more like the Porsche 356. Sales must also be made via the existing Porsche dealer network.

Beutler wants personal contact with its customers and and then Porsche decides that a spacious four-seater Coupé is not interesting enough at the time.

Five have been built, of which three are known to remain.
