Built in 1874, the shops and yard at Burnham, located a couple of miles south of downtown Denver, Colorado, were the main shop facilities for Rio Grande. In this later view on December 7, 2015, Union Pacific locomotives are repaired and serviced in the newer Diesel House opened in 1965. Lined up on the north end of Track Nos. 1 to 4 are four locomotive models from Electro-Motive Division and General Electric are represented by EMD SD70M No. 4698, EMD SD70ACe No. 8543, GE AC4400CW-CTE No. 5901 and GE ES44AC No. 7812. UP closed the entire Burnham Shops facility in February 2016. The tracks are gone and these buildings sit as neglected and trashed, empty shells.
Another tenant of the Amtrak/Metro North Northeast Corridor line was Conrail. Conrail had a nocturnal local that I never seen that ran to Bridgeport, CT. But in the day, if you were lucky enough, you could catch an SENH/NHSE or a BAL-101 on the same as stretch of track as yesterday's post of the P&W. Here we see NHSE at West Haven, CT heading for Devon Jct to run the NH freight main to Hopewell Jct, NY, and then over the Beacon Branch to get on Metro North's Hudson Line to make the trip to Selkirk.

After a few months break it was back to Uzbekistan last week for what is unfortunately my last trip for now. I didnt have time to leave Tashkent this time but did very well in my free time on subjects that evaded me on the last trips.
One big Tashkent area goal was to capture some diesel action. While the mainlines are mostly electrified, Soviet era diesels hang on as shunting power. Tashkent - Tovarni, the city freight yard, is one of the most accessible spots with a convenient footbridge from the metro station. Here 1988 built ТЭМ15 (TEM15) 022 pulls a long cut of container flats out of the yards while TEM2UM / ТЭМ2УМ 960 shoves a cut of freight cars back into the northern yard bundle. The TEM15 was a surprise catch as I did not know UTY even rostered them. For former Soviet Union models, they are fairly rare with only 198 produced. Interestingly, the model was first developed for export to Cuba. The 022 was built in 1988 and is thus one of the youngest shunting diesels in the UTY fleet.
On my previous visit I could barely get one loco to come out of the yard with a single wagon. This time I had about two hours of nonstop action before I pulled myself away as the lighting was getting bad! In total I managed to shoot 5 different locomotives, single wagon railroading is still alive and well in Uzbekistan.

This beautifully restored locomotive was the motive power for our railtour from Picton to Seddon. Here we are at Seddon, with the locomotive completing its running around the train.
Built in Canada Da1410 was operated by NZR from 1955 to 1988. From 1988 to 1990 it was operated on the main line by Steam Incorporated. Usually partnered with Da1431. During this period it was out of service for about seven years, during which time a number of items were overhauled or repaired. These included bodywork, exhaust manifolds, the cab interior, the 6SL brake system, brake cylinders and rigging, and installation of the vigilance system. It was test run on the main line in June 1997 and was subsequently recertified for main line operation. From 1998 it was leased to the Glenbrook Vintage Railway for operation on the GVR and also for Railway Enthusiast Society main line excursions. After an engine issue in 2005 it was put into storage at Glenbrook and eventually towed back to Paekakariki in June 2014 along with steam loco J1234.
After an extensive and prolonged restoration by the Steam Inc team at Paekakariki it ventured out on the main line in passenger service hauling the south bound sectors of the "Light the Night" trains on 1st August 2020.
Since then Da1410 has ventured to the South Island hauling many sectors Of the Great Southern Steam Train Tour. This involved running as far south as Invercargill. Today Da 1410 along with Da1431 frequently hauls our heritage NZ train trips and rail excursions.
