The full view of Diamond Head taken from Round Top.
Diamond Head is the name of a volcanic tuff cone on the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu and known to Hawaiians as Lēʻahi, most likely from lae 'browridge, promontory' plus ʻahi 'tuna' because the shape of the ridgeline resembles the shape of a tuna's dorsal fin.
Its English name was given by British sailors in the 19th century, who mistook calcite crystals on the adjacent beach for diamonds.
Well once again, working on location has presented me with challenges WRT subject matter and lighting. Marybeth had to come to my rescue with just about the only stone worth photographing at my son's house other than the run of the mill wall and landscaping rock/stones one would find in New Mexico. I did consider some nice river stone that almost made a solo shot. The diamond ring wound up sitting on one. As for size, ha, no worries there, it just made it under the three inches. Marybeth has really big fingers. lol.
Shot with: VOIGTLANDER, 125mm f/2.5 SL, MACRO APO-LANTHAR, Single Layer shot at f/4. Sun used for light source.

A natural sculpture on a place called diamond beach in Iceland. The ice falls off the glacier into the glacier lake, a short river brings the ice into the sea and finally the waves throw the ice on diamond beach.

The Diamond Firetail Finch is a highly social bird and enjoys living in pairs or small groups. They are known for their cheerful chirping and are active and playful birds that love to explore their environment. They are also intelligent birds and when kept as pets can be trained to perform simple tricks.
Ice "diamonds" glistening on the black beach...
The Diamond beach is by Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon in southeast Iceland.
The lagoon belongs to the Vatnajökull glacier national park. The glacier's name is Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, and huge blocks of ice (more than 1000-year-old) are continually breaking from it and large chunks of iceberg float in the lagoon.

Diamond Beach (Iceland) 20210716
The Diamond Beach is a strip of black sand belonging to the greater Breiðamerkursandur glacial plain, located by Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on the South Coast of Iceland.
At the Diamond Beach, the icebergs which fill the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon wash up on shore, creating a stark contrast with the volcanic black sand. This beautiful display makes it a favorite location for photographers and nature lovers. Wildlife enthusiasts also frequent the site as many seals call the beach home, and it is one of the best places in the country to see orcas from the shore.
The glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach are fantastical sites; however, the rate of their expansion is, unfortunately, a consequence of climate change as the glaciers retreat. With the rate that the caps are melting, there may be no ice left at either site within decades.

My beautiful Bridal Wreath Spirea in my back garden, its branches were filled with tiny rain drops after a light rain. The branches remind me of tiny pretty diamond necklaces, lol =)
