Hideo Komatsu.

I have been trying to put 2 more pair of legs to His horse.

The back legs turned out to be easy, the front legs are giving me some troubles.

The method is not complicated (fortunately the base of the horse has diagonal symmetry) just blintz the corners and ta-da! Re-arrange the remaining paper is an other story.

designing this was a sudden move of mind, and, to be fair, i had to draw five failed attempts prior to this version. the biggest problem was the grid, because i wanted to use a 48 by 48 grid and period, while i wished boxpleating to be the major technique used. no need to mention the details, but i thought i've finally solved it when i tried diagonal symmetry, but i'd still needed a 50 by 50 grid at least to get it right that way... =/ what can one do... =D i simply couldn't include all the details i wanted. so i said NO! and decided to go for a 56 by 56 grid instead... i said. is 6ths and 7ths such a serious difference? i don't think so =)

(i have still avoided the 64 by 64 variant which i am veeery happy for! xxD)

Now I'm not sure about this upload,it has this thing that makes me like it!My mom told me 2 upload it cuz she likes it;p!Lets see what mama's choice is goin to get us;p!

Lomo Turquoise 400; Canon AC f1:3.5-4.5/35-70; Canon T80.

Folded and designed by me.

The butterfly has been folded from a 25x25 cm piece of paper.

The finished model almost has the full width and half the length of the original paper, i.e. 25x12.5 cm.

The technique that has been used is Hex Pleating with diagonal symmetry.

I should design more...

This model uses diagonal symmetry. The material is tissue paper. The design is based on an earlier model, and handles the legs a bit differently than in the original. Also the claws (pedipalps) are more developed.

This one was.....more of an experiment with diagonal symmetry, since I suck in that area. It has turned out well. While there are no rivers or segments, they'll come with the shaping. You have to spread squash all the pleats in the abdomen to make it lay flat once the rest of the base is formed. About the head, ignore all those flaps and just make 2 plain pleats. After that, shape to liking. You'll have to drag the head from under the legs, and drag the wings above them. The leftover part at the bottom right is folded back before folding.

Another eurypterid genus which, to my knowledge, has not been done in origami form yet. This one uses diagonal symmetry.

This alternative design uses diagonal symmetry. One piece, folded from a square.

Here is a 17 clue symmetrical sudoku posted by RedEd, which is from a list of 17-clue puzzles compiled by Gordon which has diagonal symmetry. Seventeen clue puzzles are hard to find, and only an extremely small number have symmetry.

The horse imbeds a basic pattern for four legged animals within box pleating techniques and uses diagonal symmetry.

The previous photo, cropped, mirrored and "messed with" until I ended up with this.

It's a little less symmetrical than my usual mirrored images, but it's still perfectly symmetrical, reflected along either diagonal line drawn from corner to corner.

Here's a quick and easy tutorial of my mirroring process in photoshop (you can probably use any image editing program using the same logic) youtu.be/8cfa6Js_O_s

This Santa with 3D body and legs is folded from a single uncut square. I laminated two sheets together to create the contrasting colours. The model uses book symmetry, where as the "Other " Santa uses diagonal symmetry.

The base can be generalised for other figures of different proportions.

This scene was lovely in color, but much more dramatic in black and white. I tried to line up the shadows on the left with the bottom, left corner, and the clouds to the right with the upper, right one, creating a diagonal symmetry. This scene is all about converging lines, which always seem to stand out more in mono.

For refs, folded and created by Kamiya Ryo 2004 & 2006. Not related to the other kamiya, the name littlekamiya was given as a new creator. As far as folding interpretation for this model goes was (mentioned in an older bos mag). Satoshi's Cerberus was analyzed from Ryo and this was created afterward... Edit June 2010 with diagonal symmetry and grafted Legs.

Petr Stuchly's brilliant Hermit Crab, folded by me from CP on his photostream. It uses diagonal symmetry, thus leaving a lot of paper that can be used for the shell. I made a spiral variation for the shell.

For the corners I use the inverse diagonal symmetry for the squares. One is whole and the other is divided into two triangles. Together they make a large triangle that just fits nicely in the gap.

My attempts to photograph this species have been mostly unsuccessful.

Usually flushed from grassland, they dance away flashing their gorgeous pale orange wings, settle into another tussock and quickly close up, keeping their amber secret until disturbed again.

Lucky shot then :-)

I liked the diagonal symmetry of this, as the leaf imitates the triangular insect, but I wasn't fooled for a minute :-)

This street photography was taken in bus 147 on my way to work. I saw this girl with her fair skin sleeping sideways forming an interesting side profile for me to secretly snap her. This too follows my series of painterly style images and that iPhone's flattening of the depth I used it to my composition as if framing a portrait from days of old. I deliberately chose an oval framing (which is challenging) as it draws our eyes to a different diagonal symmetry and one third rule that divides the spaces more inward. Hence elevating this mundane scene as if you were peeping in.

A feathered dinosaur known from only a single fossil discovered in China a few years ago.

I've always wanted to design a feathered dinosaur, but I wanted to come up with my own way of making the feathers, and I wanted them incorporated into the crease pattern instead of simply making a bunch of creases on part of the paper.

And since there is already a million Velociraptor designs, I of course went for a dinosaur that hasn't been done before in origami.

One uncut square, diagonal symmetry.
