Swapna-jhare phool se,
Meet-chubhe shool se,
Lut gaye singaar sabhi baag ke babool se,
Aur hum khade-khade bahaar dekhte rahe,
Karvan guzar gaya, Gubar dekhte rahe.
Geet ashk ban gaye,
chhand ho dafan gaye,
Saath ke sabhi diye dhuan-dhuan pehen gaye,
Aur hum jhuke-jhuke,
Mod par ruke-ruke,
Umar ke chadhaav ka utaar dekhte rahe,
Karvan guzar gaya, Gubar dekhte rahe!
Kya shabaab tha ki phool-phool pyar kar utha,
Kya suroop tha ki dekh aina sihar utha,
Is taraf zameen aur asmaan udhar utha,
Thaam kar jigar utha ki jo mila nazar utha,
Ek din magar Yahan,
Aisee kuchh hawa chali,
Lut gayi kali-kali ki ghut gayi gali-gali,
Aur hum lute-lute,
Waqt se pite-pite,
saans ki sharaab ka khumaar dekhte rahe,
Karvan guzar gaya, Gubar dekhte rahe!
Haath the mile ki zulf chaand ki sanwaar doon,
Honth the khule ki har bahaar ko pukaar doon,
Dard tha diya gaya ki har dukhi ko pyar doon,
Aur saand yoon ki swarg bhoomi par utaar doon,
Ho saka na kuchh magar,
Shaam ban gayi seher,
Woh uthi lehar ki dheh gaye kile bikhar-bikhar,
Aur ham dare-dare,
Neer nayan mein bhare,
Odh-kar kafan pade mazaar dekhte rahe,
Karvan guzar gaya, Gubar dekhte rahe!
Maang bhar chali ki ek jab nayi-nayi kiran,
Dholke dhunuk uthi, thumuk uthe charan-charan,
Shor mach gaya ki lo chali dulhan, chali dulhan,
Gaaon sab umad pada, behek uthe nayan-nayan,
Par tabhi zehar bhari,
Gaaz ek woh giri,
Punchh gaya sindoor, taar-taar hui choonri,
Aur ham ajaan se,
Door ke makaan se,
Palki kiye hue kahar dekhte rahe!
Karvan guzar gaya, Gubar dekhte rahe!!

Surah e Qadr ka yeh nara hai
Aap kiya jane Fatima kiya hai.
Jis ko mukhtar e amar kehtay hain
Jis ki ratoon ko qadar kehtay hain
Subho ko jiski fajr kehtay hain
Shaam ko jis ki asr kehtay hain
Har zamanay pay jiska kabza hai
Aap kiya jaane Fatima kiya hai.
Qadr jisko sada kaza nay kaha
Sayada jis ko Murtaza nay kaha
Apni maa jis ko Mustafa nay kaha
Kanzay maghfi jisay Khuda nay kaha
Jis ki chokhat pay Kaaba jhukta hai
Aap kiya janein Fatima kiya hai.
Jiskay dar say ho har aata ko aata
Inama ki amaan ka hai gosha
Kul kafa jiska khud gawah bana
Fateha kar rahi hai jiski sana
Pura Quran hee qasida hai
Aap kiya janain Fatima kiya hai.
Jiski chadar ko aasman kehiye
Apnay bachoon ka sahiban kehiye
Isko alhumd ka nishaan kahiye
Hashr ki dhoop main amaan kahiye
Kulay emaan ka jo musala hai
Aap kiya janay Fatima kiya hai.
Jiska baba Rasul (aashiq e Rab)
Jiskay baitay Hassan Hussain lakab
Yeh jahan main hai sab say acha nasab
Jiska shohar Ali ameer e Arab
Surah e Noor jiska shajrah hai
Aap kiya janein Fatima kiya hai.
Yeh gharana sakhi mila humko
Isi ghar say Nabi mila humko
Har wasih, har wali mila ham ko
Eik wali kiya, Ali mila hum ko
Isi ghar say Khuda bhi paya hai
Aap kiya janein Fatima kiya hai.
Jiska aik baita hai Imam e Hassan
Aik baita Hussain Shah e Zaman
Aik Abbas mislay kila shikan
Jisnay seekha Ali say jang e kafan
Jiska darya pay aab bhi kabza hai
Aap kiya janein Fatima kiya hai.
Ghazi bola mizaj kehr main hai
Mera hum pala koun shehr main hai
Piyas ka sad e bab nehr main hai
Nehr yeh Syeda kay mehr main hai
Mehr yeh khud Khuda nay rakha hai
Aap kiya janein Fatima kiya hai.
Dar pay jo sar jhuka nahin sakta
Deen e majid woh pa nahin sakta
Har koi dar ko paa nahin sakta
Aira ghaira tou aa nahin sakta

An Portrait of an Luubaan Seller
Now what is Luubaan?
Frankincense, also called olibanum (Arabic: لُبَّانٌ, lubbān; Somali: luubaan; Hindi: Dhoop; Hebrew: לבונה, levonah), is an aromatic resin obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia, particularly Boswellia sacra, B. carteri, B. thurifera, B. frereana, and B. bhaw-dajiana (Burseraceae). The English word is derived from old French "franc encens" (i.e. pure incense)
There are four main species of Boswellia which produce true frankincense and each type of resin is available in various grades. The grades depend on the time of harvesting, and the resin is hand-sorted for quality.
Frankincense is tapped from the very scraggy but hardy Boswellia tree by slashing the bark, which is called striping, and allowing the exuded resins to bleed out and harden. These hardened resins are called tears. There are numerous species and varieties of frankincense trees, each producing a slightly different type of resin. Differences in soil and climate create even more diversity of the resin, even within the same species.
Boswellia Sacra trees are considered unusual for their ability to grow in environments so unforgiving that they sometimes grow directly out of solid rock. The means of initial attachment to the stone is not known but is accomplished by a bulbous disk-like swelling of the trunk. This disk-like growth at the base of the tree prevents it from being torn away from the rock during the violent storms that frequent the region they grow in. This feature is slight or absent in trees grown in rocky soil or gravel. The tears from these hardy survivors are considered superior for their more fragrant aroma.
The trees start producing resin when they are about 8 to 10 years old.Tapping is done 2 to 3 times a year with the final taps producing the best tears due to their higher aromatic terpene, sesquiterpene and diterpene content. Generally speaking, the more opaque resins are the best quality. Although fine resin is also produced more extensively in Yemen and along the northern coast of Somalia, from which the Roman Catholic Church draws its supplies
Recent studies have indicated that frankincense tree populations are declining, partly due to over-exploitation. Heavily tapped trees have been found to produce seeds that germinate at only 16% while seeds of trees that had not been tapped germinate at more than 80%. In addition, burning, grazing, and attacks by the longhorn beetle have reduced the tree population.
Shri Sankat Mochan Mandir is located at Taradevi belongs to Shimla district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
The temple is situated at a distance of about 5 kms from Shimla on the Kalka-Shimla National Highway.
The history of temple dates back to late 1950s, when Baba Neeb Karori Ji Maharaj visited this tranquil and serene site surrounded by lush green forests and emerald meadows. The majestic lofty mountains in the background which offers a very soothing and meditative atmosphere stirring the soul to enjoy the bliss of nature which is a gift from god to all of us.
Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj-ji stayed here in a hut for about ten days and being deeply fascinated and charmed with the place expressed his keen desire for a Hanuman temple to be constructed at this very location.
Baba’s devotees fulfill their Guru’s desire and began the construction of temple in the year 1962 and finally it was consecrated on 21st June, 1966.
What began as a small temple, by Hanumanji’s grace and blessings, now has acquired great dimensions and today the entire temple complex is sprawled over 20 acres of land owned by Shri Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir.
At present the temple complex facilitates people to worship and pay their obeisance to different deities as the temple complex comprises of Shri Ram Janki mandir, Lord Shiva temple, Baba Neeb Karori Ji Maharaj temple and a beautiful Shodasa Ganapathy & Navagraha mandir portraying architecture of south style.
The temple complex also includes a multi storey building which is partly used as a prayer hall where on every Sunday all the visitors are gathered for bhajan and kirtans. Below the prayer hall is a marriage hall which is rented out on nominal charges to the parties who intend to ceremonies marriages and like other functions here and it is a regular feature of the temple throughout the year.
The other half of this building houses the residential area given to the priests and the domestic staff working in the temple. For the convenience and facilities of the visitors, the temple has prasad, dhoop batti and holy book stalls. There is also an ayurvedic dispensary for any emergency treatment for visitors. The complex has also provision of thirty neat and clean well maintained toilets in the campus for bath and refreshment of outside visitors.
This temple is very easily approachable and is one of the most sought-after sites to be visited not only by the devotees and pilgrims but also by the tourists of all age groups visiting Shimla.
Ye Daulat Bhi Le Lo, Ye Shohrat Bhi Le Lo
Bhale Cheen Lo Mujhse Meri Jawaani
Magar Mujhko Lauta Do Bachchpan Ka Saawan
Wo Kaagaz Ki Kasthi Wo Baarish Ka Paani
Mohalle Ki Sabse Nishaani Purani
Wo Budhiya Jise Bachche Kehte The Naani
Wo Naani Kee Baaton Mein Pariyon Ka Dera
Wo Chehre Ke Jhuriyon Mein Sadiyon Ka Phera
Bhulaaye Nahin Bhool Saqta Hai Koi

Wo Jhoolon Se Girna, Wo Gir Ke Sambhalna
Wo Pithal Ke Challon Ke Pyaare Se Tho'fe

Wo Khwabon Khilono Ki Taabir Jaageer Apni
Na Duniya Ka Gham Tha Na Rishton Ke Bandhan
Badi Khoobsoorat Thi Wo Zindgaani
Not for the weak hearted, see the dhoop also to give the aroma in the backround, the the bottle reads Coca Cola, or read at some point in time, right now it serves a heady mix of Rose Water fragrance, and Kewra to top up the Rabri Falooda
My sister went on a tour to the beautiful north eastern states of India and brought back some wonderful memories of those places. This is one of the most beautiful things that I possess which she got for me from Sikkim. This cute Lama is made of 2 pieces - 1) the base on which we burn an incense and 2) the top portion, the Lama himself. The smoke comes out through a small hole in the bowl. That gives a beautiful effect to the path of smoke. Today I couldn't resist taking a snap of my cute little friend, so after a long time took out my camera and played with it.
This was shot with natural light coming through the window. Cloned out distractions

Complete collection of #fragrant #pastes, #oil and #holy #water for doing loving worship of your #deity #idols and performing their #Abhishek.
#Abhishek is a #religious #ceremony of holy bath given to a #deity. The word #abhishek means a sprinkling. It is derived from the root sic, to wet, and with the prefix abhi, "around," #Abhisheka is literally, "wetting around." An #Abhishek is the bathing part of a #puja that usually is done with #sacred #water. In #puja, a #deity is called, seated, greeted, bathed, dressed, fed and praised. The bathing of the #deity is the #ABHISHEKA part of the #puja. During an elaborate bathing ceremony a #deity is bathed not only in water, but also with milk, yogurt, butter milk, honey, clarified butter, sugar, and all kinds of fruit juices. After this bathing, the sacred image is dressed, ornamented, fed and praised with hymns accompanied with #bells, #drums and other instruments.
Offering Sugar cane juice, for example, help please the #Goddess of wealth – #Laxmi. The various other offerings have different meaning and gives different results to the #devotee. Offering honey may bring riches and financial gains, milk would help a person attain a baby boy, ghee is offered to expand your family lineage and have a fulfilling life, offering #Ganga water would help #devotees to attain Moksha, and pure water #Abhishek would help remove troubles from one’s life and fulfill special wishes.

Day 2: Voyage to Morman Key
After I left Sunday Bay, I crossed Oyster Bay, and Huston Bay where there was a fascinating cabin that was built on stilts. The cabin was well maintained with a white roof, dark red siding, and a boat dock in front. The cabin was designed to collect rain water that drained from the roof into house-long tanks just under the roof eves. From the tanks, other pipes led into the house providing fresh water for the guests. I wondered who owned the cabin, and how often they used it. It was certainly the only cabin around for many miles.
***************************
Editorial from DHoop: (previous Everglades NPS Park Ranger)
The cabin is one of the few, maybe even only remaining private(now Park) camps out there. I think it's a lease back for so many years. A few years ago the park sent a few boats out to help them clean up the years of accumulated trash out there. I got to help as a volunteer. I'm not sure of it's status now but it used to be used regularly as a fishing camp by the owners and their lucky friends.

Watercolour on $teinbach paper
"It was in Pittsburgh, late one night
I lost my hat, got into a fight
I rolled and tumbled, till I saw the light
Went to the big apple, took a bite
Still the sun went down your way
Down from the blue into the gray
Where I stood I saw you walk away
You danced away
I asked her what we're gonna do tonight
She said "Cahuenga Langa-Langa-Shoe Box Soup"
We better keep tryin' till we get it right
Tala mala sheela jaipur dhoop
She wrote a long letter on a short piece of paper
Mar--ga--rita...."

Margarita
Music & lyrics by The Traveling Wilburys 1988

Margarita, ah
Margarita, ah
Ooh
It was in Pittsburgh late one night
I lost my hat, got into a fight
I rolled and tumbled till I saw the light
Went to the big apple, took a bite
Still the sun went down your way
Down from the blue into the gray
Where I stood I saw you walk away
You danced away
I asked her what we're gonna do tonight
She said "Cahuenga Langa-Langa-Shoe Box Soup"
We better keep tryin' till we get it right
Tala mala sheela jaipur dhoop
She wrote a long letter on short piece of paper
Oh margarita don't stay away too long
Come on home
Oh margarita don't say you will when you won't
Margarita
dukh purana hai
waqt bada zalim
siyana hai yahan
bhik mang kar ghar
jakar khana pakana
hai..bagair chatt ka
ghar mera thikana hai
bahar sadak par nahana hai
kuch paise bachana hai phir
subha yahan bhik mangne
ana hai..jalti dhoop main kam
par lag jana hai..allah ko hasil
nazil rak kar khwajah ji ki chaukat
par badi umeed se sar jhukana hai
karam unka hai ..wohi hame hamesha
ki tarah dilwane wala hai ..

From the land of Paithan, Paithani saris comprise of pure gold threads and yarns of silk spun in a 2000-year old traditional method. Historically called Pratishthana, Paithan was the capital of the Satavahanas of ancient India and during that era, Paithani weave was so famous that Greek traders visited India for it and the Romans imported this gold woven fabric in exchange for gold of equal weight! Glory of Maharastra, these Paithani sarees are considered holy in Indian tradition because of the use of silk, which has a special importance especially in Indian marriages and thus they are traditionally a part of the trousseau of every Maharashtrian bride. Woven entirely on handlooms, Bootis and floral designs that are influenced by the Ajanta caves and Buddhist paintings make a Paithani saree exquisite. The special dhoop-chaav (light and shade) effect is achieved by bringing two different coloured silk threads together. The weaving of the royal fabric is known as tabby weaving. Some of the age old motifs are still popular like the Bangle-Peacock motif, the Tota-Maina motif or the Kamal Pushpa motif. Paithani sarees carry the cultural legacy of Maharashtra. These sarees when teamed up with the appropriate accessories not only give an elegant look but also add royalty.
