My children are my inspiration, they keep me going to obtain my associates in Network System Administration. I've been working on my associates since Fall 2009, and tho it has been a struggle at times and felt like dropping out, I see their faces and I remind myself that is why I keep going.

DeVries 77% Truffle
"A chocolate purist's dream, 77% Costa Rican Trinitario cocoa beans."
Notes: The folks at Doughmonkey could not have described this chocolate more aptly: it is a chocolate purist's ideal. There's a bit of earthiness and even savoriness to this dark chocolate. It also had a rich red wine flavor. Overall, this was an extremely balanced chocolate and familiar/predictable, in a good way.
The ganache had excellent texture. The couverture didn't *snap* as much as I had expected, but it was not bad by any means.
Read about this chocolates at the ulterior epicure.
This year we set out to hike all of the Chequamegon chapter on one trip after doing all the segments prior in the year. But flooding created reroutes and we didn't want to do roads if we didn't have to so we waited and focused our hiking towards the Porcupine Mountains in Michigan. So we were able to get some miles ion the NCT in the Porkies and did many miles in both the Brule and Heritage Chapters as well. We hope to try again in 2019 to do the entire Chequamegon Chapter all in one shot.

This wheel-thrown porcelain cup is by Brainerd, Minnesota potter Nick DeVries. It has his "ND" chop on the foot and was acquired directly from the artist during the Fall Studio Sale at the Sunrise Pottery (Janel Jacobson & Will Swanson) in October 2024.
Finally got some time off from this deployment off the coast of Africa and was able to enjoy another one of God's beautiful lookouts! :0 Hooya!

The Edwin DeVries Vanderhoop Homestead (a.k.a. Vanderhoop Homestead) at 35 South Road is a large, two-story, wood-frame, vernacular residence that was constructed and/or assembled sometime between 1890 and 1897. The timber-frame, shingle-clad building exhibits few stylistic architectural details, but derives visual interest from its complex massing and well preserved appearance from the late 19th century. The house sits in the sparsely-populated, wind-blown moors above the Gay Head Cliffs and Rhode Island Sound at the westernmost shoreline of the Town of Aquinnah near the Gay Head Lighthouse (NR listed 1987). In 1998, the town officially changed its name from Gay Head to Aquinnah.
The Edwin DeVries Vanderhoop Homestead (a.k.a. Vanderhoop Homestead) is eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places under Criteria A and C, and is significant at the local level in the areas of architecture, Native American ethnic history, and social history. The Vanderhoop Homestead is historically significant for its enduring connection to the prominent Vanderhoop family of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) and for its association with civic and social life in the Gay Head (Aquinnah) section of Martha's Vineyard, MA.
Architecturally, the building's complex plan, and nineteenth century vernacular style exemplify the characteristics of late nineteenth century residential design on Martha's Vineyard. The house was built and/or assembled between 1890 and 1897 by Edwin DeVries Vanderhoop, a second generation member of the Vanderhoop family, one of the oldest and respected families in Gay Head (Aquinnah). The Edwin DeVries Vanderhoop Homestead retains integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling, and association. The period of significance extends from ca. 1890, the earliest estimated date of construction, to 1956, the 50-year National Register eligibility cutoff date.
Education is my bridge to the brighter future. DeVry Keller Graduate School is my bridge leading me towards self-realization and enhancing my skills to make the world a better place. This picture was taken during my trip to NYC where I was going to take an important exam for my career.
