Dr. Bruce Stewart, president emeritus of the RP Seminary, delivers the

Tuesday devotional message on the theme of "Motivations for My

Ministry" from 2 Timothy 2:1-15. Most of this week's devotional

speakers have direct connections to the RP Seminary, which is

celebrating its 200th year.

Philippians 3:12 NKJV " Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected ; but I press on, that i may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me."-------------------------- The word progress means : Movement toward a goal, Development or growth, steady Improvement.... Living the Christian life will be a constant growing experience. Beginning from the moment we accept Jesus as our personal savior, until the moment we leave this world. A believer will grow in their relationship with Christ day by day, week by week, month by month, and year by year. Certainly there will be mistakes made in that growing process, But we should be able to learn and grow even more because of those mistakes. The goal may be perfection, but we will never achieve it as long as we are living on earth. We will only see perfection when Christ calls us home. [ I Corinthians 15:52] " In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."---------- If you are a believer, you can ask yourself three questions to see your progress.. (1) What was my life like before Christ? (2) How did I come to believe in Christ? (3) How is my life different because of Christ?--- If you know someone who is not a believer ; I hope you will share these questions and your answers with them. [ Romans 10:17} " So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of god."--- Share your testimony with others and maybe they will become curious about Jesus, and decide to give their heart to Him as a result. [Colossians 4: 5-6] " Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one."--

The world judges according to wealth. We are led to believe that the more we have ; The more powerful or popular we will become. That kind of thinking causes greed and corrupts the mind. We have to guard ourselves against such thoughts and realize that material possessions are only temporary.

The good news is this : there is one thing that money can't buy, And death can't take away.

God's love, mercy, and grace.

It's not a material thing, But it has great value. As a believer it is a promise of better things to come. It is a sense of security in a crazy broken world.

If you have never trusted Jesus Christ as your personal savior ; Take the time now while you still can. Humble yourself before Him. Admit that you are a sinner ( we all are) and admit that you need His saving grace.

You can become an instant millionaire in God's love, mercy, and grace. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All Saints, Margaret Street, London

It was here at All Saints Margaret Street that the revolution in architecture began. It led the way in church building. - John Betjeman

It is the first piece of architecture I have seen, built in modern days, which is free from all signs of timidity or incapacity. It challenges fearless comparison with the noblest work of any time. Having done this, we may do anything: there need be no limits to our hope or our confidence. - John Ruskin

I was aware that I was standing not only in one of the great monuments of Victorian church art, arguably William Butterfield's masterpiece, but also in one of the penultimate expressions of its revived faith within a tradition which stretched back to the Caroline divines in the seventeenth century, down through the Oxford Movement in the nineteenth to our own day. - Roy Strong

To describe a church as an orgasm is bound to offend someone, yet this building can only be understood in terms of compelling, overwhelming passion. Here is the force of Wuthering Heights translated into dusky red and black bricks and put down in a mundane Marylebone street to rivet you. - Ian Nairn

A few minutes walk from the hell of Oxford Street sits one of England's most remarkable churches. Built by William Butterfield from 1850 to 1858 as a pattern-book church, it led a revolution in English architecture. The seeds that Pugin had sown were nurtured and grew to fruition here. This is where the Gothic Revival began in earnest - over the next seventy years we would build not only churches but hotels, railway stations and other public buildings with a steady look back to All Saints.

Internally, the tiling decoration is Butterfield's own, inspired by the writing of John Ruskin. The lady chapel with its reredos of gilded alabaster is the work of Ninian Comper. The glass is by Alexander Gibbs, a vast scheme which, under the circumstances, takes a reserved back seat to the fireworks of the walls and roofs. The devotional statues and furnishings are reserved in comparison with those of some stratospheric London churches, but along with Walsingham this church is one of the touchstones of the English Anglo-catholic movement. It is open from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week.

This Christmas, we can give the gift of God’s likeness through us. When our lives reflect the God who lives in us, we can be different from the world, and that difference can bless others with the transforming presence of His love and grace...Read more at ibibleverses.christianpost.com/?p=86941

This Book of Hours was completed for the Use of Tournai and was illuminated ca. 1500 under the influence of the Master of the Prayer Books. Synthesis of text and decoration is well balanced in this manuscript. Evidence of an early owner is found on fol. 18v, where he is depicted in prayer with St. William the Great. However, because St. William the Great is not mentioned in the calendar, the manuscript may have been intended for an owner other than the gentleman portrayed in the full-page miniature on fol. 18v. Featuring fifteen full-page miniatures (inserted), twenty-nine panel miniatures, as well as some illusionistic borders, this manuscript has an ambitious pictorial program. However, there is also a sophisticated interrelationship between the textual and pictorial programs, a relationship especially apparent in the Suffrages.

In order that we may attain the spiritual condition in which conversation with God becomes possible, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá says:—

"We must strive to attain to that condition by being separated from all things and from the people of the world and by turning to God alone. It will take some effort on the part of man to attain to that condition, but he must work for it, strive for it. We can attain to it by thinking and caring less for material things and more for the spiritual. The further we go from the one, the nearer we are to the other. The choice is ours."

Our spiritual perception, our inward sight must be opened, so that we can see the signs and traces of God’s spirit in everything. Everything can reflect to us the light of the Spirit. (from a talk reported by Miss Ethel J. Rosenberg). 90

Bahá’u’lláh has written:—“That seeker … at the dawn of every day … should commune with God, and, with all his soul, persevere in the quest of his Beloved. He should consume every wayward thought from the flame of His loving mention. …”—Gleaning from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 265.

In the same way, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá declares:—

When man allows the spirit, through his soul, to enlighten his understanding, then does he contain all creation. … But on the other hand, when man does not open his mind and heart to the blessing of the spirit, but turns his soul towards the material side, towards the bodily part of his nature, then his he fallen from his high place and he becomes inferior to the inhabitants of the lower animal kingdom.

Again, Bahá’u’lláh writes:—

Deliver your souls, O people, from the bondage of self, and purify them from all attachment to anything besides Me. Remembrance of Me cleanseth all things from defilement, could ye but perceive it. …

Intone, O My servant, the verses of God that have been received by thee, … that the sweetness of thy melody may kindle thine own soul, and attract the hearts of all men. Whoso reciteth, in the privacy of his chamber, the verses revealed by God, the scattering angels of the Almighty shall scatter abroad the fragrance of the words uttered by his mouth. …—Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, pp. 294–295.

These remind me of hands in a prayer position.

This Book of Hours illuminated ca. 1470 contains stunning examples of full-page miniatures in the style of Willem Vrelant, most likely originating in Bruges. Given that several prayer cycles contain indications of a female suppliant, as well as a majority female saints in the litany, the book was either owned or co-owned by a woman. The artist or artists have chosen to alternate between color and near-grisaille miniatures throughout the text and the calendar, making for a strikingly varied program of images.
