This is the rather modern idol gracing the ancient temple of Kesar Devi, near Almora. The original temple is said to date back to the 2nd century CE.
Hidimba Devi Temple, also known as the Hadimba Temple, is located in Manāli, a hill station in the State of Himāchal Pradesh in north India. It is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hidimbi Devi, sister of Hidimba, who was a character in the Indian epic, Mahābhārata. The temple is surrounded by a cedar forest at the foot of the Himālayas. The sanctuary is built over a huge rock jutting out of the ground, which was worshiped as an image of the deity. There's no better way to describe this scene. Devi is showing the ladies how to cook a simple Nepali dish.
Side note: This was a difficult photo to update. Devi is naturally very dark and he was standing in dim lighted part of the kitchen. The women were close to the flash of my camera too.
I am having trouble lighting up Devi but at the same time to not make Jenn look overexposed. This is the best that I've came up with so far, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
