"The sea level has been rising even more rapidly in Venice than in other parts of the world. At the same time, the city is sinking, the result of tectonic plates shifting below the Italian coast. Those factors together, along with the more frequent extreme weather events associated with climate change, contribute to floods."
I spent much of my childhood in this and the adjacent woodlands. Last winter contractors who were supposed to be removing ash trees suffering from die-back destroyed great swathes of the woodland before they were sacked. Many of the trees they cut down were beech. This isn't a particularly pictorial image but is my take on the destruction caused.
The Japanese beetle: a gleaming menace that devours our gardens and invades the landscape. An invading intruder that no one wants to see and that is unwelcome.
Japanese beetles are a serious pest for agriculture, landscaping, and turf management, causing significant damage to ornamental plants, fruit crops, and lawns. Their invasive nature and broad diet make them a persistent challenge for gardeners and farmers.

Love Like Destruction ( Rocky Wallace)
The ruins of St Andrews Cathedral Nave and East Tower.
Construction of the cathedral began in 1160 by Bishop Arnold and continued for 150 years until it was dedicated in 1318 in the presence of King Robert the Bruce. It was the largest church in Scotland at this time and a seat of religious power.
After the Reformation in 1560 the cathedral suffered much destruction and was abandoned in 1561.
a little piece of rotting wood. Zoom into that photo to see that incredible structure.

World powers fall

I've seen many forests destroyed by human and his brainless greediness, but this one, located in National Park of High Tatras was affected by several natural disasters, like severe storms and fires. Spruce forests in Smokovec are recovering slowly and hopefully, one day, they will restore their previous glory.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 “You must not let anyone deceive you at all. For that is not until the rebellion takes place and the embodiment of disobedience makes his appearance—he (the antichrist) who is doomed to destruction.”

With so many being homeless and in utter torment for their lives this year throughout the world I thought it appropriate to give a shout out to them and tell them that we on Flickr really care! And I want to especially thank Robbi Robbins (brillianthues) for allowing me to use one of her beautiful works.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
When you accept violence
When you accept things against your own conscience
When you let yourself be hurt
When you do what you know you don't like:
Then you lose yourself
You shatter into a thousand pieces
And you are not alive.
The purpose of this photo is to leave this message. Think about it.

This photo is dedicated to my special friend, Fiona Larkins
Thinking especially of all of those who have lost homes and belongings and those without electricity and especially thinking of my very good friend, Fiona Larkins who I hope is safe and sound with her family. Storm Desmond has disrupted schools, hospitals and transport and has caused wide destruction and havoc.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜
Four and a half miles out from Ruby beach towers an island in the shape of a skeletal human hand. It's 80' above sea level and 33 acres around. On this sunless day the name didn't help its gloomy appearance accentuated by an abandoned 92' lighthouse standing darkly in the distance like something straight out of the Lord of the Rings. The reefs around the island are known to have claimed three ships over the years, but that's not where the name came from. In the late 1700's two different ships twelve years apart sent a long boat to shore to collect wood and water, neither returned.
Today, visiting the island is prohibited to all but research scientists who go there to check up on what is almost the Tufted Puffin's last stand in Washington State. They make their homes by burrowing into the loose soil atop the sandstone beneath and have no natural predators as there are no eagles or hawks out there.
For you Fresnel Lens fans, the original light, in service from 1892-1995, was rescued and is preserved and displayed at the Westport Maritime Museum. It's beautiful.
Basildon Park sits elegantly in 162 hectares (400m acres) of historic parkland and gardens. This 18th century mansion was saved from destruction by Lord and Lady Iliffe in the 1950s when it was no longer required after service during the Second World War. In a true labour of love, the Iliffe’s spent nearly 50 years renovating and returning the house to its former glory.
The grounds and house, which features carefully selected Old Masters, are open to the public thanks to the National Trust.

Paphiopedilum, often called the Venus slipper, is a genus of the lady slipper orchid subfamily Cypripedioideae of the flowering plant family Orchidaceae. The genus is native to Southeast Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, southern China, New Guinea and the Solomon and Bismarck Islands.
Due to their popularity, Paphiopedilums have been ruthlessly gathered and poached from the wild, making them very rare or extinct there. As soon as a new species or population is discovered, poachers will take the plants for orchid collectors who pay large sums of money. Habitat destruction is an additional factor contributing to their rarity.

She was beautiful, but she was beautiful in the way a forest fire was beautiful, something to be admired from a distance.... not up close.
