"""This Santa is preforming his task by educating the young reindeer how they should run on gras, when there is not snow at all! It happens more and more these days, that they have to travel through areas under different weather conditions.

As you can see, they are good listeners and also eager to start their actually training on the gras. Santa's sleigh with the big bag is already on standby."""

These origami models are all designed by Jo Nakashima, except for the bag, which is a traditional origami Waterbomb. And he has made a video-tutorial for all the models:

- "Origami Santa claus"

+ a simple change , that allows Santa to stand easily

- "Origami Santa Claus Bag"

- "Origami reindeer"

- "Origami Santa's sleigh"

I folded:

- Santa Claus from a paper 17,5x17,5cm kamipaper

- the reindeer from 17,5x17,5cm brown glassine -paper

- Santa's bag from 17,5x17,5cm red glassine-paper

(perhaps some days not posting but I'm reachable)

Finally got it cleaned up. Didn't last long.

Ok, not really. But this is what I thought first. Sadly I was not able to compose the cabin into the middle (it was impossible from this position) without losing the sight onto the "Watzmann". This are the rolling hills of Bavaria :)

This is a simple blend of some digital photos I took last year of some purple flowers.

I am often asked about my process. In all honesty, here is the process I used when creating this blended wallpaper:

Step 1. TAKE UGLY PHOTOS

I was taking a series of unflattering pictures of the Phoenix, Arizona cityscape and desert to send to some friends back east. The message being, "well at least you don't live here!"

Near the apartments where I used to live, there was a patch of purple floral ground covering which was quite unattractive, so I took numerous shots of it from many focal lengths and angles.

Step 2. BLEND THEM AS A JOKE

After I created my earlier red flower blends, I rediscovered this set, so I blended "the ugly purple flower photos" just for fun. I was surprised how pretty it turned out, but I still wasn't satisfied.

For months, I've tried to turn this blend into something stunning, with no luck. During this time, I randomly set this blend as my own computer desktop wallpaper, and promptly forgot about it.

Step 3. LET SOMEONE SEE THEM ACCIDENTALLY

My housemate walked into my home office the other day, during a rare moment when I had no windows open on my computer, and saw the desktop and said, "Wow! Pretty!"

I was a little surprised, since he's quite a collector of digital wallpapers, but I thought, hey, if he likes it as is, maybe some other folks will, too.

Step 4. RESIZE AND PUBLISH TO FLICKR

So I polished up the blend a little, resized it to standard desktop wallpaper sizes, and decided to upload it as is. If anything ever comes to me, I'll put the "finished" version up later!

It was on a beautiful day that I decided to make a long exposure on the Unesco World Heritage list, which resulted in this photo that I am very happy with......the waving reed collar also appealed to me...

A fun surrealism idea

Well it looks like I will be moving out of the Bay Area and it's looking more and more likely I will be returning to the foothills near Yosemite. We are excited about it but man I hate moving so I decided to bum this one back up on my photostream. This is one of my first and still most popular shots. Can't wait to be back in the woods.

If you have chosen to enter Yosemite from the south entrance along Highway 41 you will first get a few fleeting glimpses around the bends of the Valley that will cause you to wonder if what you just saw was real. It seems too big, too distant. Surely your eyes are just playing tricks on you. The trees will quickly obscure your view and you will drive along directly into the face of the mountains via Yosemite's longest tunnel. Because it's such a long tunnel and you may begin to relax but grip the wheel tight as you approach the exit for the view you are about to see will wrench your eyes from the road in disbelief!

There is good reason for the flashing yellow light warning you to slow. Suddenly before you lies an impossibly massive scene of snow topped granite towers, soaring waterfalls and pristine forests. Possibly the most photographed icon of nature lies before you an impossible view simply called Inspiration Point though some refer to it as the tunnel view. A "U" shaped glacier valley lies a thousand feet below you. To the left of the image, the impressive, largest single piece of exposed granite called El Capitan is the most dominate object in Yosemite Valley. Early explorers, unable to believe their eyes, estimated the rock at only 900ft above the valley floor. They simply could not fathom it's real height. Modern measurements eventually put it well over three times that height at nearly 3000 feet above Yosemite Valley. To the right, a towering waterfall whipped by the blowing winds in the narrow canyon appropriately named Bridal Veil Falls. While not the tallest, it is definitely one of the more beautiful waterfalls in Yosemite. In the far distance, another seemingly impossible large chunk of granite cut in half by the glaciers appropriately named Half Dome rises above the valley. But it's not over yet, you have only begun the start of a dream like drive that will take you all the way up the valley past numerous waterfalls, the meandering Merced River and lead you to Yosemite Falls which will makes Bridal Veil Falls look like a tiny trickle of water. If you are a photographer, you could easily spend your day at the entrance as the scene will change by the minute, especially in winter, but push on, as there is much to see.

Winter and early spring in Yosemite are a quiet time and possibly the best for photography if you don't mind driving on cliff walls in the snow. The summer crowds have yet to arrive. The campgrounds are empty and except for a few cars driving though the valley the roads are clear. And though you may stick to the outhouse seats there are few drawbacks to visiting during this time of year provided you bring the proper gear for you and your car. If you can, plan your visits to coincide with the breaking of a winter storm. Yosemite staff are good at keeping the roads open and you have a good chance of getting the proper conditions for some stunning photography as the clouds break. I spent 5 years of my life living just outside the park. My only regret is that digital photography was only in its infancy at the time.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.

These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, and having moved from professional Nikon equipment to consumer bodies and lenses, I travel light less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to GETTY IMAGES, and the 22.893+ Million visitors to my FLICKR site.

**** This frame was chosen on August 7th 2018 to appear on FLICKR EXPLORE (Highest Ranking: #80. This is my 103rd photograph to be selected, which for me is both amazing and exciting, as I never view my images as worthy compared to some of the awesome photography out there. EXPLORE is Flickr's way of showcasing the most interesting photos within a given point in time -- usually over a 24 hour period.

Flickr receives about 6,000 uploads every minute -- That's about 8.6 million photos a day! From this huge group of images, the Flickr Interestingness algorithm chooses only 500 images to showcase for each 24-hour period. That's only one image in every 17,000!..... so I am really thrilled to have a frame picked and most grateful to every one of the 17.950 Million people who have visited, favourite and commented on this and all of my other photographs here on my FLICKR site. *****

Another shot from my recent trip to Yosemite. This one is similar to the one I use on my Desktop background (Mac:El Capitan) except was taken at sunrise not sunset.

As a huge fan of TYPE-MOON and Kara no Kyoukai, I felt it was appropriate to choose a desktop that reflected this.

During each evening office (evening service) of the Norbertine Sisters of St Catharinadal, this church commemorates the sisters from their community who once died on that particular day

One day I saw the artist Vincent de Boer, who calligraphs the names and dates of death sisters in a special handwriting he developed for the occasion.

Upside down and from right to left.

The desktop on which to work is at the same time a monumental sculpture through which the long roll of paper runs. This workstation is an artwork by Jonas Wijtenburg and is part of a series of modular artworks by him.

Another transparent 'desktop', this time on my iPod touch.

To all visitors from Smashing Magazine - HELLO!

Just a quick note - this transparent screen was created by holding the iPod and working out a good holding position, then removing the iPod without moving my fingers and taking a photo of my empty hand, then editing that photo in Photoshop, cropping it down to the exact dimensions of the iPod touch screen. I then loaded the photo onto the iPod touch, set it as the wallpaper, held the iPod the way I did originally and took another photo with my fingers aligned exactly right so as to 'sell' the transparency.

You know you wanna laugh
