Fête des lumières. Lyon.

Depuis le quai des célestins, point de vue de la passerelle du Palais de justice.
« Quand l’orage gronde au-dessus de Fourvière, ça fait du bruit et ça peut faire des étincelles.. la foudre commence par frapper les flèches de la basilique, électrifiant progressivement tout l’édifice qui se couvre d’une lumière pure, céleste. Un rayon lumineux s’en échappe pour aller frapper en contrebas la passerelle du palais de justice, qui, à son tour, crépite d’une multitude d’éclats de lumière, qui se fondent au final en une chorégraphie singulière. »

Much historical information has been posted along the walls of Topography of Terror, both down in the excavation sites and along the upper walk, informing visitors about the dramatic history of World War II in general and the SS and Gestapo torture methods in particular.
Rue des Remparts is one of the major walkways in the Mont Tremblant Pedestrian Village and had most of the stores and shops in the village. Most of the shops were, however, quite expensive so I just browsed around and didn't really buy anything.
I love how the buildings in the village are so colorful, too bad I caught them on a gloomy day. They're apparently even more beautiful on a sunny day.

No 3 of a set of 7 views of the Somme area by E. Rössner, ca. 1915. The color prints have the format of postcards, but they lack the usual division on reverse. They were apparently not produced commercially, but perhaps by a regimental print shop. A soldier added explanatory notes on reverse by hand.
The Kasbah of the Udayas was built in the 12th century during the reign of the Almohad Caliphate. After its defeat, the kasbah was deserted around 1200.
It was restored at some point, and is now an upscale living quarters for locals and expats.
It is beautiful with its winding lanes, and blue and white buildings.
Rabat is a UNESCO world Heritage site, for its blend of historical sites including the Kasbah and city walls housed within the modern city.

I met Des walking along Mon Repos Beach near Bundaberg. He's a retired dairy farmer from Warwick, camping at Mon Repos for a reunion. He and his wife have a little A-van camper that they travel about in. It sounds like a lovely retirement. We got to chatting about the current price cutting of milk and he told me about how the drought forced him away from dairy farming about 10 years ago. As always seems to be the way when I meet a stranger, we found we know someone in common!
