Passing a local garage they had this Mini Cooper parked outside advertising their business, I've always loved Mini's ever since I was a lad, hence took a few snaps to archive on my Flickr .
Mini Cooper and Cooper S: 1961–1971; 1990-2000
John Cooper, owner of the Cooper Car Company and designer and builder of Formula One and rally cars, saw the potential of the Mini for competition. Issigonis his friend was initially reluctant to see the Mini in the role of a performance car, but after John Cooper appealed to BMC management, the two men collaborated to create the Mini Cooper. The Austin Mini Cooper and Morris Mini Cooper debuted in September 1961.
The 848 cc (51.7 cu in) engine from the Morris Mini-Minor was given a longer stroke to increase capacity to 997 cubic centimetres (60.8 cu in) increasing power from 34 to 55 bhp (25 to 41 kW).
The car featured a racing-tuned engine, twin SU carburettors, a closer-ratio gearbox and front disc brakes, uncommon at the time in a small car. One thousand units of this version were commissioned by management, intended for and designed to meet the homologation rules of Group 2 rally racing. The 997 cc engine was replaced by a shorter stroke 998 cc unit in 1964. In 1962, Rhodesian John Love became the first non-British racing driver to win the British Saloon Car Championship driving a Mini Cooper.
Timo Mäkinen and Mini Cooper S on their way to the first of a hat-trick of wins in the 1000 Lakes Rally in Finland
A more powerful Mini Cooper, dubbed the "S", was developed in tandem and released in 1963. Featuring a 1071 cc engine with a 70.61 mm bore and nitrided steel crankshaft and strengthened bottom end to allow further tuning; and larger servo-assisted disc brakes, 4,030 Cooper S cars were produced and sold until the model was updated in August 1964. Cooper also produced two S models specifically for circuit racing in the under 1,000 cc and under 1,300 cc classes respectively, rated at 970 cc (59 cu in) and a 1,275 cc (77.8 cu in), both had a 70.61 mm (2.780 in) bore and both were also offered to the public. The smaller-engine model was not well received, and only 963 had been built when the model was discontinued in 1965. The 1,275 cc Cooper S models continued in production until 1971.
Sales of the Mini Cooper were as follows: 64,000 Mark I Coopers with 997 cc or 998 cc engines; 19,000 Mark I Cooper S with 970 cc, 1,071 cc or 1,275 cc engines; 16,000 Mark II Coopers with 998 cc engines; 6,300 Mark II Cooper S with 1,275 cc engines. There were no Mark III Coopers and just 1,570 Mark III Cooper S.
In 1971, the Mini Cooper design was licensed in Italy by Innocenti and in 1973 to Spain by Authi (Automoviles de Turismo Hispano-Ingleses), which began to produce the Innocenti Mini Cooper 1300 and the Authi Mini Cooper 1300, respectively. The Cooper name was discontinued from the UK Mini range at this time.
A new Mini Cooper named the RSP (Rover Special Products) was briefly relaunched in 1990–1991, with slightly lower performance than the 1960s Cooper. It proved popular and a new Cooper-marked Mini went into full production in late 1991.
So as to meet emission standards, Coopers from 1992 on were fitted with a fuel-injected version of the 1,275 cc engine, and in 1997 a multi-point fuel injected engine was introduced, along with a front-mounted radiator and various safety improvements. "I love my Mini Cooper," remarked Madonna in 2003. "I was too scared to drive a big car in London: the roads are so narrow and I'm always afraid I'm going to hit people on both sides."

February 14, 2009 - Valentine's Day in Toronto - I had to go downtown to get my Spotmatic repaired, so I spent the afternoon walking around. I thought I didn't get too many shots that I liked, but after looking at them and processing them, they turned out ok. I uploaded a lot today.
LOL, there was Dolce & Gabbana incense!
I really love this doll, and while I think she's beautiful mine has a few flaws. A common thing is how poorly done the bangs are, so I guess it isn't just a problem with mine. This doesn't seem to be an issue with the classic dolls so I wonder why it is with this limited designer doll. Second, mine has a couple of gashes on the left side of her head near her neck. They aren't that noticeable but still, I wish they weren't there. Other than that she's pretty sweet. Granted I'd have liked to of seen her in more of a silver-grey scheme like in the film, but I think the purple and gold is stunning so I really wouldn't change it. While I love the embroidery, it's really the print on the underskirt that makes the dress for me, and I do love that she has her shawl too! In fact the only thing I would change (other than the sloppily executed bangs), is the head mould. I wish she had the newer mould that is in the Deluxe Doll Set and the JCP Rose and Phillip Set, as I feel it's a superior and more beautiful mould. She still has the awkward hip joints, so I'm starting to wonder if maybe my Rose and Maleficent from the Doll Set were just an oddity. The Frozen Skating set has the awkward hips as well. Maybe the Doll Set was produced in the factories more recently and that's why it has both the better hip joints and the newer head mould, I hope, but I'm not counting on it either. Anyhoo, I really love that we have an interpretation of her in her peasant dress, so refreshing.

The tall chair, designed about 1897 for Catherine Cranston’s Argyll Street tearooms in Glasgow. According to museum notes, it’s an important work in the British Arts and Crafts Movement. The high back helped provide privacy for tearoom patrons. This is located in an exhibit of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s (1868-1928) work at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia.
I apologize for the graininess of some of the photos; the learning process is long and hard and enjoyable. If my information is incorrect, please let me know. I’ve moved into strange and wonderful territory with this series.

La Sainte-Chapelle (The Holy Chapel), the palatine chapel on Boulevard du Palais on Île de la Cité, was built as part of the royal palace (now the Palais de Justice) and consecrated on April 26, 1248. A personal undertaking of King Louis IX, it was built to house the relics of Christ's passion, notably the Crown of Thorns, Image of Edessa and a piece of the True Cross. Louis IX purchased the crown and other relics from Emperor Baldwin II in 1939 for the exorbitant sum of 135,000 livres. He added further relics from the Byzantium in 1941 and 1943. By contrast, the entire chapel cost 40,000 livres.
A masterpiece of the rayonnate period of Gothic architecture, Sainte-Chapelle is not directly credited to any designer-builder. However, Louis IX's architect, Pierre de Montereau (or Pierre de Montreuil), who had rebuilt the apse of the Royal Abbey of Saint-Denis and completed the façade of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, is usually attributed to its design. Perceived as a symbol of monarchy and religion, the Sainte-Chapelle suffered considerable damage as a result of the French Revolution. The steeple and baldachin were removed, the holy relics were scattered, and various reliquaries, including the grande châsse, were melted down. Most of the statues were saved by Alexandre Lenoir. Under the auspices of Eugène Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc, significant restoration work was undertaken by the architects Félix Duban from 1836-1848, Jean Baptiste Lassus from 1848 to 1857, and Emile Boeswillwald, from 1858 to 1868. While some of the relics were never to be found again, others are today kept in the treasure of Notre-Dame Cathedral and at the National Library.
The Royal Chapel, or Upper Chapel, for the king's use and the display of the relics, was dedicated by the papal legate and connected to the aula, or the main council room. It rests upon a Lower Chapel which was served as parish church for all the inhabitants of the palace and dedicated to the Virgin Mary by the Archbishop of Bourges.
The Lower Chapel is located underneath a porch. The coronation of Mary is represented on the tympanum. A Virgin with Child decorates the trumeau. Its choir is made of a seven section hemicycle, enabling it to support the floor of the upper chapel. The interesting ribs are underlined with red strips with golden L. The vaults are covered with fleur de lys gilded on a royal blue and golden Castilian castles on a red, symbolizing Saint Louis and his mother, Blanche de Castille. The walls are decorated with trefoil arcades between which twelve medallions are placed representing the apostles.
The Upper Chapel is similarly protected by a porch, whose tympanum represents the Last Judgment. It has four bays and a seven section choir. La Sainte-Chapelle owes much of its fame to the upper chapel's stained glass windows--6,458 sq. ft of glass, two thirds of which are original, surrounded by delicate painted stonework. Each of the fifteen windows, measuring 15.4 meters tall and 4.25 meters wide, is divided into lancets, which when read from left to right, working from the bottom up, tell the biblical story of mankind beginning on the northside with Genesis and various other books of the Old Testament, continuing with the Passion of Christ, in the central choir, and ending with the history relics on the south side. A flamboyantly gothic 16th century rose window shows the Apocalypse around an enthroned Christ in the central oculus. Statues of the apostles stand on each side of the nave. The recesses of Saint Louis and Blanche are decorated with medallions with paintings of martyrs and angels.
There is not any mystery that Designer Handbags are a woman's very best family member when it comes to fashion or being fashionable. For each and every set of brogues, outfit, shawl, or nail colour, there is a handbag that is going with it. Designers are developing new designer handbags simply as rapid as they are being brought in retail outlets or online.
One of the most biggest names in the industry are Dooney & bourke, Prada, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Burberry, Versace, LaTour Eiffel, Teach, Carlos Falchi, Lui, and plenty of more. Whether you are on the lookout for the most expensive handbag with that matching wallet or simply something sublime, however now not as top upkeep, you'll be able to virtually in finding no matter what you wish to have in any handbag retail store or online handbag retail store.
As a man, I have a few revel in with shopping for the very best handbag as I have shopped around a couple of times for my wife. The type of bags that I in most cases acquire are the ones with the cute designs, medium bucket type, long straps as the quick straps are simply too brief to place underneath the arm and simply do not glance that sexy on a woman.
Medium Bucket handbags are roomy and feature long straps in order that while a woman puts the handbag on her shoulder to go into a shop as an example, she isn't having to worry approximately getting a skin burn from the handbag rubbing underneath her arm while she walks.
Some other sexy feature to medium bucket handbags are the numerous wallet which might be hooked up to them as a few also have belt buckle type straps, which screams sophistication. Then again, medium bucket bags don't seem to be for each and every instance and could now not glance just right while a woman is attending an evening adventure or social event. This is where the smaller more informal handbags come into play and while opting for the very best small designer handbag, you wish to have to mention I am classy and sophisticated, however at the same time you wish to have to reveal reservation as going to a public serve as with a lime green handbag says a large number of things, however now not sophistication.
The colour of the handbag screams immediate attention as the first thing other people realize if you end up walking is the colour among other things equivalent to the uniqueness of the designer handbag, designer of the handbag, shape of the handbag. The minute you introduce something other to the public, watch how many compliments you receive whether the handbag cost a fortune or simply $40 dollars. The herbal reaction from women when they see a purse that they have got never noticed ahead of is where did you get it.
The ones days of shopping for pricey designer handbags have faded in the wind and for this reason most sensible designers of the day prior to this are scaling back the fee tags in their handbags to stick competitive as the least pricey handbags are making splashes in the market with their inventive and cunning designs and as the marketplace is now saturated with more than a few forms of designer handbags with more than a few worth tags attached. There are a few names in the market equivalent to Nine West that experience designed a few very impressive handbags over the years with an overly affordable worth tag.
For women, a marketplace where Prada becomes affordable is a great thing and there are lots of retail outlets in the market that experience teamed up with one of the most most sensible handbag designers in the market to deliver most sensible handbags at cut price prices for the purpose of staying competitive so this is a win win for women all over the place the arena as they are now in a position to get the ones bags they have got always sought after for a fragment of the cost.
Not to mention, those handbags are one hundred% original with the serial number and mud bag for protecting the colour and upholstery of the designer handbag. Whether you are a large handbag lover, a short handbag lover, a medium handbag lover, a long strap handbag lover, a short strap handbag lover, there is a handbag only for you out there. You simply want to understand where to visit in finding your very best designer handbag. is.gd/designerhandbagonsale80

The first 5 Designer Princess Dolls, photographed without flash through their cases. They were all in a row, so the dolls further away are less distinct (or more ghostly), being seen through progressively more layers of plastic. The dolls seen are Snow White, Mulan, Belle, Ariel and Cinderella (from left to right, in reverse order of their release). The last 5 dolls released are stacked above, but not seen in this photo.
Disney Princess Designer Collection Dolls. Set of 10 Designer Princesses released by the Disney Store in the US and UK from August 22, 2011 through October 18, 2011. They were limited edition, with edition sizes varying from 4000 to 8000. Missing from my collection is the D23 Silver Anniversary Designer Cinderella that was limited to only 250 copies. It was only sold at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, and sold out in one day on August 19, 2011. The 10 princesses are the official members of the Disney Princess franchise: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Ariel (The Little Mermaid), Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana and Rapunzel.
